The world had not changed.
Greed hated that.
He stood at the edge of the black platform and stared at it: the same small world floating in the darkness between realms, blue and white beneath a protection neither of them could cross. Complete. Silent. Untouched. The tear in its side was the same hairline it had always been.
It should not have been. Not after the nine minutes.
"We should have been here," Greed said.
Pride did not answer.
Greed turned. "I said we should have been here."
"I heard you."
"And?"
"And we would have seen a shield." Pride looked down at the thing between them. "We would not have come back with that."
