Chapter 503 - My reaction was too slow...

Blake received a Howler — a screaming letter blaming him for recent trouble.

Miss Worley had been pulled over, and confusion lingered on her face… until she realized it was Blake who'd done it. Only then did she understand.

Blake simply pointed at the yeller, still shouting curses.

Kassandra, nearby, had also noticed the Howler. Then a crazed expression flickered across her face.

"I told Dad, but he just doesn't believe me!" she shouted. "How could he do this?! I just went out to play—do I have to check in with you every time?"

She turned. "No! I have to go back and find him!"

Blake gently caught her arm. "Wait. Don't go blaming him like this."

"He's your father — that's why he's worried."

Kassandra sighed. "I know, I know… but I was just having fun. I told him before I left, and still he didn't believe me. He always says I'm secretly going to find you..."

She gave Blake a sideways glance.

Blake self-consciously touched his pale golden hair, frustration bubbling inside. This isn't even yellow! Why is he so paranoid about me?

"You can't seriously say I'm not allowed to go out and play just because of '480'..." Kassandra muttered.

She'd just learned to use the Dimension Gate. Who could resist?

"How about this," Blake offered. "Next time, go with your mother. That way, your dad won't have a reason to object. He won't think you're sneaking off to meet me."

"Eh? That's right!" Kassandra brightened. "Mom's always free anyway!"

"Exactly. And it's safer with her around," Blake said. "Honestly, your dad just wants you to spend time with your family. You can travel so easily now — make it count."

A smile spread across Kassandra's face. "Thanks, Blake. I'll go then."

"Alright." Blake waved her off.

He turned back to the Howler, still roaring.

"…Can a Howler really record this much? Why is it still going?" he muttered.

Suddenly, he felt a soft body press against him — then a kiss landed on his cheek.

He turned, startled, just in time to see a green figure vanish through the Dimension Door.

I was careless and didn't dodge! Blake touched the fresh hickey on his cheek, sighing. "My reaction was too slow... In the past, I'd have just hugged back. Then...ahem."

"I'm here to turn in the mission!" Agatha declared, shoving a stack of commission papers through the submission window.

The house elf behind the counter squinted. "Ah, it's you again."

He scribbled with a quill. "Can you tell me your organization's name?"

Agatha stiffened. "Why do you need that?"

In Knockturn Alley, one had to stay on guard — or be eaten alive without even realizing it.

"Don't worry, 'Violet'..."

Violet was Agatha's codename in Knockturn Alley.

The elf continued, "The man known as 'Black Bat' came to turn in a job not long ago. Then he helped file commissions for the 'Fourth Natural Disaster.' I figured you were all from the same group."

Agatha hesitated, then said, "Yes, we're an organization."

"Well," the elf went on, "the three of you have accepted fifteen major commissions — and completed them all in just two weeks."

"Our investigators confirmed — no cheating."

Agatha raised an eyebrow. "So what? Is it bad to finish too fast?"

"No, no — Miss Violet, it's a good thing. I'm saying your group is clearly powerful. I just so happen to have a big commission available. It needs a strong team. Interested?"

Agatha hesitated. Specially marked large commissions came with enormous rewards. She wanted to say no, but felt reluctant. Say yes, and she'd be lying — the "organization" was just one person.

Blake.

The reason they completed everything so easily last time was Blake. Without him…

Between her and Snape, they might manage one task.

"I can't decide," she finally said. "I'll have to ask my boss. You're not in a hurry, right?"

"Technically, I was told to find someone quickly," the elf admitted. "But you can go ask. I'll just need to register a name first. What's your organization called?"

Without thinking, Agatha blurted, "The Fourth Natural Disaster."

"Oh?" The elf glanced up. "Then the one who registered last time with that codename — he's your boss?"

"Yes."

"Alright…" He made some notes, then slid several moneybags across the counter. "Here's your reward. Chaos Wish has already deducted handling fees."

Agatha pocketed the money happily and left.

She'd never really thought about forming an actual organization. But maybe… maybe she should.

Whether Blake agreed to the new commission or not, The Fourth Natural Disaster could be real.

With someone like Blake, how could they not have a proper group?

After leaving Chaos Wish, Agatha Apparated to the potion shop. Borrowing parchment from Ackerman, she quickly scribbled a letter and sent it to Blake by owl.

"The zoo is finally opening," Newt Scamander said happily.

Blake folded Agatha's letter and tucked it in his pocket.

"That's great news, Mr. Scamander," Blake replied.

Originally, the magical zoo was set to open at the start of summer. But Sirius Black's prison escape had caused delays. With Sirius still missing and Sun Point quiet again, the wizarding world had begun returning to normal — and so, the zoo could open at last.

"You and your friends have been a huge help," Newt beamed.

"You're too kind," Blake said. "Honestly, I'm surprised you've tolerated all our 'troublemaking.'"

"Troublemaking? Nonsense!" Newt pointed to a strange vehicle nearby. "Without that sightseeing car — the one sturdy enough to survive a Chimera — the Ministry wouldn't have approved anything."

Blake grinned. "Even if we didn't have the car, someone upstairs would've signed off eventually. Politics, you know."

He wasn't wrong. Truthfully, the zoo was incredibly safe — all the magical beasts had been tamed by Blake himself and followed his orders. But public perception mattered, so they added plenty of visible safety features, modeled after Jurassic Park.

"So long as it looks safe, it feels safe," Blake reasoned.

"And Big Bear!" Newt chuckled. "With his help, construction's been flying."

"Xiong Da? As long as you're not bothered by how much he eats..." Blake laughed.

"Not at all! He eats less than a dragon and works twice as hard."

A fire dragon would sleep after a meal. Xiong Da, though? He'd eat, then build two entire houses. On average, one house cost a barrel of mead and five barrels of grilled fish.

Still a bargain.

"His magical ability's been growing fast lately. Thanks to you," Blake said.

Newt smiled warmly. "He has real talent. I've been a magical zoologist for decades, and never imagined I'd teach magic to an animal."

Since meeting Blake, Newt had encountered more magical wonders than in the rest of his life combined — especially those creatures Blake brought from Otherworld.

"Mind leaving Xiong Da at the zoo for now?" Blake asked. "I'm not comfortable with him traveling just yet."

Newt nodded. "Understandable."

"If he ever acts up," Blake added with a smirk, "just remind him — if he wants to find a good Xiong Er one day, he'd better behave. Otherwise... no Xiong Er."

"Aaachoo!"

Far away, Xiong Da sneezed loudly in his wooden hut, still clutching his mead barrel.

He sat up, scratched his head, took another swig, then collapsed onto the hay and went back to sleep.
