While Robert was still at SHIELD headquarters trying to extract more information from the Skrulls, a different situation was unfolding at the Danvers Farm. Five men in black suits knocked on the Danvers' door.
"Who is it?" Mr. Danvers frowned at the noise, puzzled.
"FBI! We need your cooperation for an investigation!" One of the men outside flashed his badge and called out to Mr. Danvers.
They weren't lying; they really were FBI agents, not SHIELD or Hydra agents in disguise. Unlike Super Investigations, which had been compromised, any large commotion here could alert Robert, which would cause significant problems. When Alexander Pierce gave the order, it was to have the official agency lure the Danvers family away under the pretense of an investigation, then bring them to him.
However, since the task had been outsourced and wasn't handled by direct subordinates, combined with the distance, by the time Robert was already attacking SHIELD headquarters, the FBI agents had just begun their operation.
"FBI?" Mr. Danvers was taken aback. He couldn't understand why the FBI would be interested in him. He was a good, law-abiding man who spent most of his time on remote islands. He couldn't think of anything that might have led to this situation.
"Could it be… the islands? No, that wouldn't make sense. If it were about the islands, they wouldn't send the FBI; it would be an agency with supernatural powers. Could they be disguised as the FBI?"
Mr. Danvers had seen enough strange things to be suspicious, wondering if these agents were from an organization like SHIELD.
Despite his doubts, he wasn't afraid. Robert had assured him before leaving that he had bestowed them with a special power that would protect them. Mr. Danvers trusted in that protection.
Besides, if he didn't check who was at the door, he couldn't possibly let Mrs. Danvers face any potential danger. That wouldn't be his style.
The door creaked open. Mr. Danvers looked at the five FBI agents and said calmly, "Since when does the FBI come to places like this? Do you have a signed warrant for this investigation?"
"We just need to confirm a few things. It's not a formal investigation." The lead agent frowned, noticing Mr. Danvers remained inside the house, and explained.
"So, no warrant? You should know you can't just go around without a warrant. According to the Castle Doctrine…" Mr. Danvers was about to continue, but stopped when he saw the agents pull out laser guns—state-of-the-art weapons.
As an old white man from a rural area, Mr. Danvers was very familiar with guns. In fact, he had always relied on firearms to protect his farm and family.
But times had changed, and old-fashioned firearms were being replaced. Even the Rifle Association had been forced to rebrand, showing how outdated traditional firearms were in the face of modern firepower.
Though Mr. Danvers paused, he didn't look afraid. Five laser guns were nothing to him.
"Castle Doctrine? You really don't think much of us FBI agents, do you? When have we ever cared about that?" The agent sneered. "Now, cooperate with us, bring your wife out, and we can handle this by the book. But if you don't, don't blame me for what happens next."
Normally, the FBI might act more cautiously, but this was a special mission handed down by top officials. As long as they didn't kill the Danvers family or create too much of a public scene, they were allowed to use any means necessary.
Alexander Pierce: That's not what I told the FBI deputy director! You were supposed to keep it quiet from the Saiyan… Oh well, it doesn't matter now; the hideout's already compromised.
"Take my wife too? Go ahead, shoot me! Let's see if you dare to kill an innocent man and ignore the law!" Mr. Danvers, now angry, stared at the agents defiantly.
"You! Arrest him!" One of the agents, enraged, almost shot Mr. Danvers in the back, but held back. He couldn't have imagined what would happen next.
Boom!
Boom!
In quick succession, Mr. Danvers used the narrow doorway to his advantage, knocking down two agents with swift punches and kicks.
Like the Kent family, the Danvers had been physically enhanced by Robert's energy. Though they weren't on the level of super soldiers, both couples were remarkably fit for their age. Using the confined space, Mr. Danvers easily overpowered two FBI agents.
"Zzzap!" A laser shot out, missing Mr. Danvers and disappearing into the sky.
"One more move, and the next shot will hit you!" The lead agent warned, visibly frustrated.
If it weren't for the orders and the overwhelming power of the laser gun, which could severely maim or kill, the agent would've already pulled the trigger.
Mr. Danvers, however, remained unfazed. "You want to arrest me but don't expect me to resist? You have no warrant, no law, no reason. Go ahead, shoot! If you don't, come in here and try to take me yourself. Let's see if you young ones can handle an old man like me."
"You bastard!" One agent couldn't hold back any longer and fired a laser shot at Mr. Danvers' arm.
But before the laser could hit, a figure appeared in front of Mr. Danvers—his daughter, Kara.
The laser hit Kara, but it had no more effect than a bullet would. In fact, unlike bullets that might fall to the ground, the laser simply vanished without a trace.
"Supergirl?! What are you doing here?" The FBI agents gasped, recognizing her. As a government agency, they knew Kara's superhero identity and powers. And that was exactly why they were now panicking.
"You took your time getting here. I thought I'd have to deal with them myself." Mr. Danvers shook his head, sounding a bit disappointed.
"The Kents had the same situation. Alex was also attacked earlier. It seems our identities have been exposed, or at least someone in the government knows about us," Kara explained softly. "I wonder if the Saiyan knows... oh, well, it looks like he's already handling it."
Kara had been concerned Robert might not find the mastermind, but a glance showed him slaughtering one Skrull after another.
"Alright, I'll leave them to you. Just don't mess up the farm." Mr. Danvers nodded, not too worried about their exposure. He trusted Robert would figure it out.
"Okay," Kara replied, turning her attention to the agents.
"Supergirl, what are you going to do? We're FBI agents! If you touch us, you'll be a wanted criminal!" one of the agents stammered as they backed away, trying to threaten her.
"Oh, go ahead and make me a wanted criminal. You've already come to my home; I don't care who you are. Besides, the last group didn't survive." Kara waved dismissively before vanishing with the five agents in a blur.
"The last group? But we're the only ones on this mission!" the agents thought, confused, before Kara brought them to a remote wilderness. A beam of her heat vision disintegrated them, leaving behind no trace.
From the marks on the ground, it was clear the FBI agents sent to the Kents had met the same fate.
Kara didn't even pause to consider the consequences of killing the agents. Long before she met Robert, Kara had killed those who had kidnapped Alex. She had never shown mercy to anyone who threatened her family.
"Robert, two groups of FBI agents just showed up at our house. Looks like Hydra went after Alex because our identities were exposed," Kara telepathically informed Robert after finishing off the agents.
"Oh? So that's what it was. I nearly forgot to ask why they went after Alex." Robert raised an eyebrow, pausing his slaughter of the Skrulls, and shifted his attention to the remaining officials.
"What's happening? Why is the Saiyan looking at us? Could it be that there are more aliens among us?" The government officials flinched under Robert's gaze, instinctively backing away while casting suspicious glances at one another.
After seeing the Skrulls, these officials no longer trusted anyone, not even their colleagues.
"Which of you are from the FBI?" Robert asked the crowd, his voice calm.
"Uh-oh…" The FBI deputy director's eyes widened in realization. He thought back to the mission Alexander Pierce had given him and quickly spoke up. "I didn't know they were Skrulls! I had no idea their mission had anything to do with you!"
Shunk!
Robert didn't waste time with the man. A wave of energy pierced the deputy director, leaving him dead in a pool of blood.
"I originally wasn't looking for these Skrulls. I followed Hydra because they learned my identity and went after my family…" Robert glanced at the rest of the officials and spoke in a measured tone.
"I know once my identity's exposed, it's hard to hide again. But my solution is simple—anyone who comes for me, I'll deal with. I'm not Superman. Human laws and survival don't matter much to me. If things get too troublesome, I'll just destroy Earth and take my family to live in another civilization."
The officials gulped nervously. They had initially been tempted when Robert mentioned his identity being exposed. After all, part of what made him difficult to handle was his lack of obvious weaknesses.
His family, however, was a clear weakness. One they could exploit.
But as they looked at the sea of corpses around SHIELD, they realized the gravity of the situation. If Robert's family was truly threatened, no organization, no matter how powerful, would escape his wrath. The officials understood that provoking Robert would be a death sentence, regardless of their position or influence. He wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone who endangered his loved ones, and the piles of bodies were a brutal reminder of that.
To Robert, it didn't matter who held power on Earth—whether they were from SHIELD, Hydra, or any official institution. He had the ability to wipe them out without a second thought. And unlike Superman, he wasn't bound by the ideals of mercy or protecting humanity at all costs. Robert had the capability—and willingness—to destroy everything if pushed too far.
As the officials wrestled with this chilling realization, Robert suddenly looked up, his eyes narrowing as he sensed a powerful energy gathering in the sky. Something dangerous was being prepared in orbit above Earth, and it seemed like a weapon was now being aimed at the planet.
"What's this?" Robert murmured, his gaze locking onto the sky.
