-3rd POV-
Otto began panicking the moment his eyes fell on Grayfia.
Things are getting tricky.
Because he sealed his own magical energy with [Annihilation Maker], he appeared as a normal human. That gave him an advantage, as Grayfia might just let him go. But the problem was Rias; she DEFINITELY wasn't going to let him walk away now that she was curious about him.
Seeing that Grayfia was distracted, reprimanding Rias for running off on her own, Otto turned around as quietly as he could and began his escape.
Sadly, Rias noticed this. "Hey, wait! We're not done!"
Otto flinched as he felt Rias's stare along with Grayfia's.
Turning around, he nervously chuckled, "Hehe, sorry, but I have to go!" He immediately turned around to run, only for a hand to grab his shoulder.
"Apologies, but Lady Rias wishes to speak with you." She spoke as her hand tightened around his shoulder.
Usually, she wouldn't care about a human even IF Rias had taken a fancy to him. But Rias had mentioned something that had caught Grayfia's attention.
The human had apparently been muttering something about "Vampires" under his breath without thinking, according to Rias. Which was the main reason she had first approached him until she became distracted by the camera he had been using to take pictures. In simple words, the human child before her wasn't normal. And what was even more weird was that she couldn't feel anything coming from him, absolutely no magical energy or Sacred Gear within him, despite having direct contact with him, which raised her suspicion even more.
But you might be thinking, "Isn't it stupid that she's suspicious of him because she can't feel anything. Can't that mean he's normal, or was a fan of vampires, so he came to the place that looks like a vampire's lair?"
But that's precisely the problem, and Otto's fatal mistake. Even IF a human doesn't have magical energy OR a Sacred Gear, she should still be able to sense his Ki, otherwise known as "Life-Energy".
The only way that could be possible would be if he were either a walking corpse or someone hiding their strength.
But he felt warm and alive, so it could only be the second one.
Otto had temporarily concealed everything that could be considered supernatural about him, including his Ki. And now that has cost him.
"Sorry, but there isn't much to speak about. I already rejected her offer, but she keeps pestering me," Said Otto with a sigh. He's aware that she is aware that Rias is spoiled. Telling her this, he hopes that she will let him go in understanding.
"Once again, Apologies, but if Lady Rias wishes to speak with you, then it shall be done," she said without backing down. She wanted to interrogate the little human.
With a sigh Otto said "*Sigh*, no choice then"
Grayfia raised an eyebrow at the boy's confidence. Perhaps she would see what he had been hiding this whole time? But it was of no matter, as she was already at point-blank range from him. She was confident that if she saw him do anything that could potentially harm Rias, she would be able to obliterate him from the face of the earth with a single, swift spell of hers.
Lowering his legs, Otto overlapped his arms with a fist. "With this sacred treasure, I summon-"
"!!!"
Grayfia, who was still holding his arm, let go and backed off quickly.
She doesn't know why, but the boy's words sent her senses haywire.
Her body moved on its own, making the mistake of giving Otto some space to breathe.
"See, that was easy, wasn't it?" Otto said with a smile.
Grayfia narrowed her eyes at Otto. "Who are you?" she asked in a threatening tone. Frost began to appear around her hands as she got ready for a fight.
"Sorry, but that's none of your business, not like we will meet each other again," Otto scoffed in annoyance.
The snow that fell from the sky suddenly began to pick up heavily, turning into a snowstorm in just a few seconds.
Grayfia panicked as the snow blocked her view, and she also couldn't do much because she was in public. But of course, if the situation really called for it, she would make the humans standing around them into collateral damage.
Of course, she could also brainwash the people here to forget, but she's in the middle of a battle.
After a few seconds, the storm suddenly stopped, showing that Otto had managed to escape.
Grayfia looked around to check if the boy was there, but she couldn't sense anything.
With a tired sigh, he grabbed Rias and teleported away.
It also looked like she would need to report this to Sirzechs when she gets back from this trip with Rias.
-Otto POV-
Well, that was scary.
I only barely managed to run away.
But I'm surprised that my bet pulled off, using [Annihilation Maker]. I was about to create Mahoraga, but Grayfia backed off instinctively, feeling danger from my shadow. I knew that devils had good senses, but that was a bit excessive. Well, maybe it was just because she was a battle-hardened maid.
That small window allowed me to use Lavinia's Ice Herrscher powers to obstruct her vision with the natural snow and escape back to the small inn I was staying in.
Of course, if that didn't work, I was really about to summon Big Raga, the Opp Stopa, and wipe her out along with the people around us.
It would have been a burden on my conscience, but I'm not letting myself get captured by the Devil faction.
Tch!
And I still don't know why she was so pushy to begin with. I didn't think she'd sway to Rias's whim.
*Sigh*
I'm tired, I'll continue my search tomorrow.
