Chapter 54 - Taller

However, when he took in his surroundings again.

It wasn't without gain the confrontation bought him enough time.

Simply because of the presence of Asuma Sarutobi, his presence had a lot of meaning.

'I should still keep my guard and attention up,' Gaara thought as he still couldn't take his eyes off Shisui nor Asuma, in case he came for the opposite reason he thought.

Meanwhile in shisui mind, he could see Gaara chakra drop by a certain amount and how he easily escaped the genjutsu though it seemed coincidental, in fact he already knew what Gaara was going to do next by making a clone of himself but he didn't attack for two reasons firstly, he is no longer an intruder but a guest if the Hokage wanted to meet him and secondly.

The clone gaara swapped positions for was no different than himself, he had a unique chakra which was understandable as others did too but when one made a sand clone of themselves it was bound to be different fundamentally in chakra from the original but in his eyes it was Gaara split himself in two using his chakra and let the other one die.

'Come to think of it, the chakra of his earlier clone I killed is different from his.' Shisui thought he couldn't wrap his head around it, but he didn't press on and made a mental note to observe.

Only then did Asuma step up.

"You said you came here not for a reason you can't tell right? Then you don't mind us escorting you into the village, just take us as your personal bodyguards," Asuma said with a smirk.

Gaara slowly and calmly walked to his cloak on the ground.

'Indeed, Asuma is here because the Hokage sent for me,' Gaara thought, and then turned to them and said.

"Keep up." And then he leaped onto a tree and headed for the leaf village with his bodyguards while consciously still keeping a distance from Shisui and In Thoughts.

Moments later, Gaara, along with Shisui and Asuma, were standing in front of the Hokage, Gaara without disguise and Shisui without his Sharingan activated. He made sure to always face down lest he implicate himself.

Hiruzen, however, who was the Hokage, stared quietly at Gaara for a while before gesturing for the kid, who looked no older than 12, even though he hadn't reached the age to sit, and at the same time for the bodyguards to return to their posts.

"You look quite older than your age, Gaara," Hiruzen said calmly as he stared at a bunch of papers on his table while looking at Gaara again multiple times.

Gaara wasn't surprised to hear this because immediately after waking up, the first thing he remembered having was an elevated height view, so maybe he aged well or optimally.

He didn't know what the sage chakra after long exposure did to his body but Hiruzen wasn't one to talk regardless.

"I appreciate the gesture of accepting me here," Gaara said as their conversation trailed on...

...

Meanwhile, somewhere else, someone, a man with an eye path and bandaged arm, just got a report of a certain someone from Sunagakure capable of resisting genjutsu almost perfectly, and that of Shisui for the matter.

He showed a slight smirk as he stood up and walked away.
