Chapter 40 - PWA 40 Final Duel [Rewrite]

The Spinda immediately let out a screech when it see my Wooxie.

No, it is not the move Screech that can lower enemy's defense, it is just a normal screech purely from being freaked out.

I guess the memory of my Shion tortu.... ahem, I mean, beating that Spinda down so badly just less than an hour earlier is still freshly haunting it, huh?

Well, let's just hope it won't become a long-term trauma for the poor mons.

Without our commands, my Shion and Kotonoha's Kasumi immediately shot a Bullet Seed and Bubble Beam to the Spinda.

We won't let it stay for long to do its Teeter Dance that can confuse our Pokémons.

"Spinda! Teeter Dance!"

"Misdreavus, Destiny Bond!"

As expected, Lorman immediately commanded his Pokémon to do its Teeter Dance.

As for the Misdreavus, an eerie string of wispy black ghost energy is entangled on it, looking like it had made a knot that covered her body,

The Spinda do its Teeter Dance with a set of eerie movement patterns that looks so confusing while withstanding a shot of Bubble Beam from Kasumi and a barrage of Bullet Seed from Shion.

Let's do something that I have thought earlier after the battle with Lorman.

"Shion, Kasumi, plan B!"

Oh, you asked what Plan B is?

Its a short for Blind Shot.

Basically, Shion and Kasumi will shot their attacks on an enemy that is doing a Teeter Dance by remembering the pattern of movements they have seen before to predict the enemy's location while they close their eyes so that they can't see the weird dance.

If they didn't see the confusing patterns of the dance movements, then surely my Pokémons will not be confused by it, right?

We don't have time to practice it but oh it have gone so well will Kasumi has landed a second shot of her Bubble Beam on the Spinda just when it is about to end its dance.

As for the Barrage of Bullet Seeds though, 2 have missed before another two landed on the Spinda, making it stand on its last line of life.

"Curse and Protect!"

Hm? Protect? Since when Misdreavus can do Protect?

As I questioned the megane girl's command over her Misdreavus, it happened just when the last Bullet Seed which should nail the Spinda to the ground is about to hit, that the Misdreavus make her move and she murmured a cursed chant while also tanked the last bullet for the Spinda!

Oh No!

Our Pokémons are still closing their eyes as they have already shot another volley of Bubble Beam and Bullet Seed.

"Kasumi, Shion, open your eyes and stop your attacks!"

Our Pokémons which are successfully saved from falling into confusion due to not seeing the performance of Teeter Dance from Spinda opened their eyes and stopped their attacks as they looked at the enemies.

Kasumi's half baked Bubble Beam still managed to hit the Misdreavus for a considerable amount of damage, the mage-type ghost Pokémon which should have been a feeble existence adamantly stood her ground in front of the Spinda to protect it from attacks.

And then comes 2 bullet of seeds shot by Shion that is about to hit miss ghost pokemon.

"Spinda, Rapid Spin!"

The Spinda suddenly make a move quickly, its body spinned crazily like a certain Tasmanian Devil from an American Cartoon.

The Spinda spun like a living tornado then jumped in front of the Misdreavus, then it repelled the 2 bullet seeds that comes on them and thus effectively nullified the attacks.

Meanwhile the Misdreavus have also finished her chanting of the Curse ans she paid half of her life force to land a curse on Shion!

A black, unsettling strands of aura with a phantom image of skulls is strangling my wood fairy pokemon.

Shion and Kasumi just look at each other and have nod of understanding before they both make a move together.

Shion, feeling that she have been cursed by the Misdreavus and that she would be racing against time to finish the duel before the Curse effects kicked in to make her fainted attacked the enemies crazily with her Bullet Seeds.

(Author's Note: Shion didn't know the effect of Curse when used by Ghost Pokémon, but she do can feel that her life force is dwindled bit by bit since she has been hit by the Curse.)

Meanwhile the Misdreavus which is about to move in front of Spinda to defend it again is distracted by Kasumi who playfully throwing the sand to her eyes, making the Ghost Pokémon winched as the sand blinded her eyes.

[ ] Author's Note [ ]

Unlike in Pokémon games where the Curse effect when used by a Ghost type Pokémon is to make the user pay half of their HP to make the Cursed Target lose a quarter of their HP each turn, here in PokeWack World the Curse effect is making the Pokemon lose their HP (Life Force) bit by bit (around 1 to 3%) per second.

Of course, the Curse effect would be lifted if the Pokémon in question leave the battle either by returning to pokeball or simply running away if it is in the wild.

In sanctioned battle though, if you returned a Pokémon that is being cursed back to pokeball, then it is still count as you forfeiting, unless the pokemon used a move like U-Turn, Baton Pass, Switcheroo, etc that forced it to return to the pokeball to be switched with another Pokémon.

Those moves are still forbidden to use on 1 vs 1, single round battle though. But if it is a multi rounds battle involving more than 1 Pokémon on each team, then it is allowed with the Pokémon that is being switched in counted in the number of Pokémon that is being used in that battle.
