Valentine Teller was startled and quickly refused, "We're leaving right away."
"Oh, I see! Never mind, goodbye!"
Oliver Sladder was extremely disappointed.
Her refusal was very clear; she just didn't want him to join in.
Oliver Sladder put down the phone, feeling empty inside.
Valentine Teller put the phone back in her purse, walked out of the restroom, and saw Mark Reed sitting on a bench not far away, with a pink bear placed on one side of the bench.
She thought it was someone else's bear left on the bench, but seeing Mark Reed walking toward her with the bear tucked under his arm, she realized she was mistaken.
"This is for you." Mark Reed handed the bear to Valentine Teller.
"Did you buy it?"
Valentine Teller was surprised and delighted, beaming as she hugged the bear to her chest. This pink bear was so cute, even wearing a floral print dress.
This was the first time someone had given her a gift as she grew up, and she felt inexplicably happy.
