Valentine Teller mustered up the courage to say softly, "Hello, it's me..."
It's her?
Hearing Valentine Teller's voice, Mark Reed's heart tightened, struggling to suppress his surging emotions, he asked in a low voice, "What's the matter?"
"Nothing, I... think I saw you today."
Since she impulsively dialed his number, she might as well say a few words, at least let her hear his voice again, which is a small comfort.
"Really? I was driving and didn't notice." Mark replied coldly, remembering she was just standing at the hospital entrance, it felt like a bone stuck in his throat.
He glanced at his wristwatch, it was still early, and he said casually, "Anything else?"
"No, nothing."
Realizing he didn't want to talk to her, Valentine felt waves of disappointment in her heart: "I won't bother you anymore, goodbye."
Without waiting for a response from the other side, she hurriedly hung up, letting out a long sigh, she shouldn't have made the call, really shouldn't have!
