Mark Reed slowly lifted his head, putting down the pen in his hand: "No ulterior motives. You don't have a car, and it's hard to get one at this time after work. I was just being kind to offer you a ride to the Seabay Hotel. Please don't misunderstand me."
Valentine Teller rolled her eyes. Who knows if he's really kind-hearted? He's such a sly guy; how could he possibly be kind?
Seeing that innocent look of his just made her angry.
Valentine patted her chest, telling herself not to get angry or stoop to his level.
Saying nothing, Valentine ran out. Since he was determined not to let her go, she needed to find something for self-protection to teach him a lesson at the right time.
Mark watched as Valentine turned and left, taking out his phone to call her.
After dialing the number, he thought for a moment and put it back on the desk, a thought crossing his mind that she would be back very soon.
