"Okay, I'll come pick you up tonight!" Mark Reed said, then left carrying the lunchbox.
Just as Mark left, Anastasia Archard began joking with Valentine Teller: "Heh, heh, showing off your love like that? Do you know it can backfire? Are you trying to make me jealous?"
"What if I am? When you make me jealous, do you ever consider my feelings?" Valentine retorted without backing down.
"Alright, alright, we're just hurting each other!" Anastasia said, holding her face in her hands and looking at Valentine enviously, "You and Mark are really something. Even after so many years apart, you are still each other's true love. It's a storybook ending, like a prince and princess living happily ever after."
...
When she returned home that night, Valentine buried herself in the study and refused to come out.
Mark, annoyed, drove off.
He took a seat in a private room, surrounded by a flock of women. Soon, his rowdy friends arrived, making the room lively.
