"Ugh."
The groan escaped before consciousness fully returned. Helen shifted against something unyielding, her body screaming with discomfort as she tried to find a position that didn't make everything ache. But movement was impossible—her wrists were bound tight, refusing to give even an inch.
"Ugh," she groaned again, this time with growing awareness. Her eyes fluttered open, and immediately she frowned at the unfamiliar restriction around her limbs.
"What... what's happening?" The words came out hoarse, confusion clouding her thoughts as the reality of her situation crashed down on her. She was tied to a chair.
"What's happening?! Ednar! Ednar!" Her voice cracked as she screamed his name, desperation bleeding through each repetition. But only silence answered her. Her wrists strained against the ropes, her legs equally trapped. Something had gone terribly wrong after her conversation with Riley last night.
