Chapter 1714 - Chapter 1714 Crying

The Emperor looked towards his seated mother, the Empress, who had stayed by his father's side constantly since his father fell into a coma. He was extremely worried about his mother's health and tried many times to persuade her otherwise, but she wouldn't listen.

The Retired Emperor coughed once, "You should leave now."

The Emperor felt sorrowful yet could only heed his father's words. He feared losing his mother just after losing his father. His gaze was fixed on his mother, "Mother."

The Empress Dowager waved her hand, "Go now."

The Emperor's steps were incredibly heavy as he walked out of the bedchamber step by step. The door closed behind him, blocking all views and leaving time for the couple to be alone.

Inside, the Retired Emperor's voice was full of regret and guilt: "In the end, I still haven't left you much time; you're right to blame me."

"When you fought for the empire, I understood. Let it be, there's no resentment to speak of now. Would you call me by my name?"
