Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: This is War

(Somewhere at the sea)

"There aren't more fishes at the sea, here seems to be dry of it" one of Mr. Charles men said

" Or Mr. Hansel's men had fished them out before we did" another said

" We should burn down his shipyard, it will take a lifetime to build another one for his business, nothing has been going well for us since he became the mayor" another said angrily

Mr. Charles puffs his cigarette on the air with his eye wandering around the sea.

" We have a company" he said referring to the boat that was approaching them from the back

They all turned to see which boat was that, there were ten of them inside Mr. Charles boat; and then three men approaching them from an unfamiliar boat.

" The boat is a new one, might be some random fishermen" another said

" Ask them what they want, if there are fishes on the boat; we will take them and the boat too, we can't afford losses right now nor anyone sharing the space with us" Mr. Charles said getting up from the ship.

" Yes sir" They answered as they watch Mr. Charles made his way into the boat room.

It took few minutes before the other boat approached Mr. Charles boat

" Here they come" One of Mr. Charles men said throwing away his cigarette.

Before one could say JACK ROBINSON, the three men inside the strange boat fired gun shots at them and shot them to their death leaving one survivor who was still in shock of the incident.

" This is a warning to your boss from Mr. Hansel" one of the strange men said

The survivor nodded his head in total shock, he watches the men depart as he fell to his knee.

Mr. Charles who was inside the boat still in his own shock inhaled and exhaled " This is war" he said to himself.

(Back at Riverian)

Princess Adunni paced around without rest waiting patiently for her mother, it has been five days since her mother's journey to Marco. She wondered what could have kept her this long?

" Do you think I should send a message?" Princess Adunni asked Amanda

" It's unlike you worrying about your mother" Amanda responded briefly with a smile

" This isn't funny, my gut tells me something is wrong" Princess Adunni told her

" Your royal highness" One of the Merguard interrupted " A message from the king of Oceania" he said

" The king of Oceania?" Princess Adunni said taking the message stone from her

" Why would the king of Oceania send a message?" Amanda questioned

Princess Adunni read the symbols on the stone, she turned to Adunni

" The queen was ambushed; she is under the care of the Oceania's because she was poisoned" Princess Adunni answered

" Poisoned!" Amanda said in shock

" Marco, I bet they have hand in this" Princess Adunni said.

(Somewhere at the sea)

Erica swims out of the river, she had been staying there for two days now since it was hard for humans to come across that area. She rested on the rocks inside the shallow waters; she had been tempted by her own thoughts to go back to the sea but that would be falling into Olga trap; she knew Olga wanted her to feel alone so that she could be forced to go back to the Riveria kingdom.

Her stomach made a slight noise from hunger, she hasn't eaten for a day now and it would be tiring searching for fish to eat on the shallow waters, she puts on her necklace getting back her human feet; she leaves the surface of the water and headed to her mother's grave.

" It's funny that I actually started getting this feeling of wanting to know more about you" she said squatting down beside Vashi's grave

" When I found out you where my mother after overhearing the queen and king Ayata discussing, I felt very embarrassed and empty because I knew how differently the Sirens would look at me if the secrets were to be disclosed; I knew I owe the queen a lot for not choosing to disclose it to the Sirens and felt that I shouldn't be punished for your sin" Erica silently said touching the surface of the sand she had covered her mother with...

" I have never regretted anything more than being your daughter" Erica said letting the sand flow in between her fingers. She felt a distance between her and the body buried, the Mer-people has a tendency of being able to feel the presence of their own even at death but the sand felt empty.

" Someone was here" she said
