"How long have you known about this?" Grandine asked Igneel.
"For some time," Igneel said as he let out a sigh. "I was only able to find out about it because of the measures I had taken against mind and memory manipulation before our minds were altered. And even now, I was only able to find out that my mind was altered. But the subject and the information that I lost are still an enigma to me," he then looked at Grandine.
"So I decided not to inform others unless there was a way for them to realize it on their own. And I decided to nudge you in that direction since you were working together with Zeref to create the gate.
Since the answer to the memory manipulation and the separation of the kids had been recorded as the effect of the Eclipse in the implanted memories for all of us, just reminding you—a person well-versed in all the enchantments and the mechanisations of the gate—was more than enough for you to realize that your memories had been tampered with.
But in the case of the others, I decided that, for now, there was no need to increase the workload they already have. They are already dealing with their respective dragon slayers and making sure that they grow strong enough for the future fight with their greatest nemesis. It's better for both of us to deal with it for now."
"Should we at least tell Karna about it? Since the memory erasure has been done on us and the kids, any investigation done by the kids might be detected by the ones who did it. But since Karna is not directly related, he might be able to investigate something," Grandine suggested.
"The answer is still the same, Grandine. Plus, the child Karna has done a lot for us just by providing us with the information from the future. He is even working towards the goal of fighting the detested dragon as well. Asking more from him does not seem to be the right thing. It's better for us to do this ourselves," Igneel said, which earned a tired sigh from Grandine.
"I just hope that at least nothing happens to Wendy."
"Haha, don't worry about it. Natsu has grown up really well. I'm sure he will be mature enough to make sure that she is protected," Igneel said with a smile.
But right at that moment, from outside the soul realm, in the real world—
"JUST WAIT, I'M GONNA GO BY MYSELF AND BEAT DOWN ALL SIX OF THE ORACION SEIS MYSELF!" Natsu shouted and then began running out of the building towards the location where traces of the Oracion Seis were found.
Igneel was silent the moment he heard it. He slowly turned his head away from the pointed look he was getting from Grandine.
'Natsu, you brat, why the hell have you not learnt anything even after getting beat up by those women in that guild all these years?! You're making me look bad, you nincompoop,' Igneel shouted in his mind.
At the same time, in a nearby area—
'I didn't even need to reach Cait Shelter to find its location. The traces were able to unconsciously awaken the Death Demon Slayer form inside me,' Karna thought as he bent down to pick up a piece of grass blackened due to its vitality being completely absorbed by Nirvana, which had passed through this place.
'Since Jellal is currently under the complete scrutiny of the council, Brain will not be able to kidnap him to use his knowledge as a member of the council to unlock Nirvana. So I won't be able to find out who will be used for it using my knowledge of the canon. But right now, something else should take priority,' Karna thought as he looked at his new discovery—something he had not realized until now.
But he had no time to look into it at the moment, as he saw Christina, the flying ship of the Blue Pegasus guild, crash to the ground.
He immediately activated Incursio again and started flying toward the direction where he sensed a dense presence of a combination of magical abilities.
He landed in the center of the scuffle, bringing the attention of every single person in the field toward him.
"KARNA!!" the Fairy Tail members shouted in relief, as they were having difficulty dealing with the members while knowing next to nothing about their abilities. Plus, their teamwork when they all worked together was almost unbelievable—it seemed stupid that they later purposefully split and got defeated.
He turned to Cobra first to see his expression, as he knew his mind-reading skills were something he needed to watch out for—his mind was filled with information that should not be revealed at any cost. But he had already made precautions for it.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Cobra's scream rang out in the valley, shocking everyone, as he promptly fainted.
Karna smiled. All he did was use his heightened comprehension ability to read through a lot of useless info as well as noises that caused extreme headaches in his mind palace. You could say that he just used a very low-level version of an attack whose effects were similar to Gojo's Domain Expansion—where almost an infinite amount of useless knowledge is injected into the enemy's mind, rendering them nearly catatonic. Karna's version was a low-level power, but with more pain infliction compared to Gojo's overload, which doesn't give enough time to feel pain before complete shutdown of the brain.
"Guess the mind reader's out for the count," Karna muttered in a low voice, but it was heard by them all.
The Guild Alliance members were surprised at the ease with which Karna had taken him down, while they had been struggling just moments earlier.
Karna looked straight at Brain—more precisely, at the seals on his face—and saw that one of them looked slightly dim. But other than that, there was no difference from the other markings. And when Karna activated the Sharingan and looked closely, he was able to see that the mark was darkening at a really slow pace, not noticeable by normal human eyes.
'Huh, looks like knocking them out is not enough. I guess it will require completely draining them of magic as well as stamina for it to completely disappear,' he then looked at Brain.
"Last I heard, you were running away like a coward after finding out that Ur was hunting you down," he called out to Brain, who was responsible for the kidnapping and experimentation on Ultear as a child. He was being hunted by Ur as well as a few of the Fairy Tail members responsible for dealing with the darker parts of society.
And instead of being angered upon hearing it, Brain was starting to feel the rise of perspiration on his brow.
"Karna Vermillion," he said aloud while secretly preparing a spell behind him.
