The next few days were hell. Edolas Gajeel still remembered what happened during those days. He had run through the city immediately, telling all the people within it to run away. And within a few hours, the entire town was shaking as if high-level earthquakes were plaguing it. He was only able to see the castle being almost destroyed that day.
The next day was even worse, as Edolas Gajeel came back to see the situation of the city, seeing that he had succeeded in evacuating everyone yesterday. Even though he had only met Earthland Gajeel a few days ago, he had asked him about the basics of magic and had found out that the power released by the emotions of mages could even kill a weak-willed person. Right now, Edolas Gajeel was not even surprised to see that there was not a single animal or bird near the palace and most of the city. He wanted to get closer and see what had happened, but he had a bad feeling about what was going to occur.
Gajeel's bad feeling came true, as the next day there was a scream from the castle, along with the appearance of a pillar of pure white light from the castle. In the next second, the pillar exploded, and the entire capital was covered with a really strong layer of ice.
Within hours, Edolas Gajeel saw a construct of ice resembling a dragon fly out from the castle toward the outside world.
Seeing this, he began to contact every connection he had throughout Edolas to find out what was happening. It did not take him long to discover the truth.
Fairy Tail had taken the capital and the Anima with their battle strategies. But by then, the king had escaped with more than three-fourths of the army, along with most of the dangerous machines as well.
But as days passed, Edolas Gajeel was able to hear how each and every platoon with the king was being hunted down by Fairy Tail members. Most of all, he heard reports about the ruthless ice wizard who was acting as a calamity in hunting down the remnants of the king's supporters. As more news began to flow through the city, the more horrified they became at the ruthlessness of these wizards.
Edolas Gajeel decided to use this time to inform the citizens of the truth about where they were siphoning magic from and why these wizards were attacking them. If he had done this before Edolas was attacked by the wizards, the citizens would have turned a blind eye to the suffering of others and would have argued that it was done for the wellness of their own world.
But right now, seeing the destruction brought about by bringing a single guild through the Anima was more than enough for them to feel fear about Earthland. Edolas Gajeel had no idea where Fairy Tail stood in the power scale of Earthland, so he was sure the citizens had no idea either. But they were more than strong enough to deter the citizens from using the Anima ever again. Just before things went south, their prince, who had returned, gave the idea of reversing the Anima and expelling the magic left in the world, thereby shutting down the Anima entirely since it required magic to operate. Edolas Gajeel's plan was to support this idea, as it would ensure that the Fairy Tail wizards would leave this world as well.
As these plans were underway, Edolas Gajeel saw machinery being built on top of the castle. He didn't know what it was, but he had a bad feeling. And just yesterday, the king was finally captured by the Fairy Tail members and brought to the castle.
Having no information about what was happening made him feel uncomfortable. So he decided to infiltrate the castle today. Even though he might not have any bad blood with the Fairy Tail wizards, he had no idea how people would react in grief. So he decided to take the safe route and infiltrate while trying to contact his counterpart.
He had no idea that he would meet the man who could save his world while doing so.
After hearing the whole story, Karna looked at the new machinery being built on top of the castle. It didn't take him long to figure out what his friends were creating.
"Do you know what they are trying to build?" Edolas Gajeel asked.
"Yeah, they might have thought that after being used, the ethernano might have dispersed into the air. If I'm right, the machine they have will suck every last bit of ethernano around the capital and turn it solid. They might have thought there's a chance I might come back that way," Karna said as he began walking toward the castle. "So let's stop it before they do anything stupid and rip the capital apart."
It did not take long for the problems to finish, as Karna did not wait and immediately went into the castle using Incursio. He got in through one of the open windows, nearly giving a heart attack to Makarov, who was standing there.
"Holy hell, god damn it kid, you're alive!" Makarov shouted out as he recognized Karna.
"What, did you think I croaked that easily?" Karna asked as he saw a few of the other members run toward him from a distance as they heard the master's shout.
"Ah, well," Makarov awkwardly looked away. "Things were a bit more intense here, kid."
"Karna, you're alive. Manly!" Elfman shouted as he reached Karna.
"Where the hell have you been the last few days?" Laki asked the moment she reached him.
"I was back in Earthland, still sleeping while all of this happened. Did no one think about checking whether I was back there or not before traumatizing an entirely other dimension?" Karna asked with exasperation, to which the guild members tried to act as if they were not the ones who did it.
