Chapter 11 - Pale Ore

Eventually we reached an agreement after showing her my weapon ,but the moment we took it to one of her children.

A problem arose. A few smiths could repair it ,but not a single one had any clue as to how to go about upgrading it.

It may seem like just a short lance ,but the structure was extremely delicate and the material that the nail was made of didn't synergize with any of the regular metals tested.

We tested all kinds of metals and materials ,but nothing seemed good enough.

Until I felt a pull on my body ,my feet started to move on their own as Lady Hestia and Lady Hephaestus followed me.

"What's with your kid ,Hestia?"

"Hm~ ,I have no clue! Hey Holo ,where are we going?"

"Don't know. Just following my Instincts. I think my Nail is telling me where to go ,I'm just listening."

A look of complete shock flooded onto Lady Hephaestus' face as she processed what I just said.

She seemed absolutely dumbfounded and the light seemed to leave her exposed eye as she walked along with Lady Hestia.

Eventually ,we found ourselves at a stall. It was selling metals and monster drops usually used to make weapons or armor.

One of the items was a rocky crystal with a stony covering a pale white crystalline inside. The inside was only visible through a small crevice in the surface of the rock.

I picked up the rock and proceeded to ask the price and origin of this metal.

The stall owner said it was obtained around the 20th floor. A hidden cave in the forests of those levels contained a few boulders made of this material.

It had a light weight but also when forged into a blade ,the piercing attribute was raised higher than usual.

The only problem was most types of weapons and blades can only be infused with a certain amount before it unbalances the blade ,causing it to shatter.

The metal itself was extraordinarily beautiful when forged into a complete weapon by itself but most would shatter on impact, resulting in them being decorative ornaments rather than weapons.

The price was around one hundred valis per gram due to the ornamental value of the ore. This particular ore was worth around five thousand valis.

Thinking that upgrading my nail was more of a priority than savings ,I asked for permission from Lady Hestia to buy it before making the purchase.

After purchasing the material needed for my nail upgrade ,I decided to learn how to smith so I could perform the upgrades myself.

My instincts are telling me that I can learn ,I just need an opportunity to try it. So I knelt in front of Goddess Hephaestus and solemnly asked for a teacher in the art of smithing.

"Seeing the determination in your eyes ,no matter how hollow they may seem I just can't say no."

"I'll teach you the basics ,but you'll have to figure out how to go about your weapon's situation on your own."
