Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 | Connection

I slept like a baby—turns out my recent insomnia was just due to my particular needs. Now that I know what I need for a good night's sleep, it's nothing to worry about. I woke up full of energy and in a great mood. I'd gained my Killer Queen—after all, to receive this Stand, I had to embrace Kira's killer nature.

During my early days here, I briefly hoped that this darker side of Yoshikage might bypass me. But day by day, I kept feeling worse. That doesn't matter anymore, though.

Outside, the sun was slowly rising as I made breakfast, feeling more calm and content than ever—no anxiety, no nerves.

After eating, I headed to work. As usual, the streets were full of people—this is New York, after all. I arrived at school, entered the classroom, and opened the door.

"Good morning," I greeted the students as I stepped in.

"Today, we're covering a rather interesting topic," I added with some intrigue, settling in at my desk.

The workday passed smoothly, and by evening I stopped by a nearby store on my way home. As I gathered supplies, I kept thinking about my next steps.

The Arrow is probably inside the Avengers Tower, which is very bad news. Sneaking in won't be easy. If only I had Black Cat's help—but that's not an option. I'll have to do this alone. Still, with my current abilities, I should be able to steal the Arrow without being seen. Hopefully, the place won't be crowded.

I paid for my groceries, exited the store with a full bag in hand, and walked home looking forward to a pleasant evening.

Relaxing music, a delicious and enchanting aroma, and a warm atmosphere filled Kira's home, making sure nothing could ruin the evening. The man himself, humming cheerfully, was preparing a culinary masterpiece for dinner.

Luckily, nature had gifted him a talent for cooking—though in his past world, the best he could make was scrambled eggs.

"Hm hm..." he smiled as he sat down at the table, setting out his freshly prepared meal.

Tasting the food, Kira closed his eyes in delight, savoring every note of flavor.

"Magnificent."

"Tomorrow I have to sneak into the Avengers' HQ. I should be anxious, but..." the man smirked, "I feel calm. Probably thanks to that girl. Come to think of it, I saw her on a wanted poster. Heh."

He was getting close—just a few more Arrows. But he knew this wasn't the end. He had no idea what would happen once he collected them all, but he was certain he wouldn't stop.

His thoughts turned to the feeling the Arrows gave him—with each one, he felt more connected, and it made him question their true origin. He suspected it might be similar to JoJo's lore—but he wasn't ruling out other possibilities.

Letting go of tomorrow's worries, Kira cleaned up with pleasure, took a shower, and headed to his bedroom. That dark night, once again, he slept like a baby—free of any burdens.

× Meanwhile | Unknown Location ×

A long corridor lit by overhead lamps was silent, the quiet broken only by the footsteps of two people.

Erik strode forward confidently, helmet on, cloak trailing, followed by a woman with a strange appearance. Her skin was entirely blue, her eyes yellow without pupils. A red bob cut framed sharp features, and a white suit barely covered her form, accentuating every curve.

"But… are you sure?" she asked anxiously behind Magneto. "It's too risky to go alone."

"I'll manage," Erik replied shortly, stopping in front of a massive automatic door. As it opened, it revealed a vast hall filled with mutants—some training, some playing cards, some sleeping. The air buzzed with activity, the sound of life in full swing.

"B-but…" the woman stammered, still following.

"That's an order, Mystique," he said firmly, nodding briefly to passing mutants. She had no rebuttal. She thought charging into Avengers HQ was madness. She doubted Magneto could just walk out of there—but the last clash with Xavier's people had gone well, offering a shred of hope.

"I can feel it calling me..." Erik thought, oblivious to the world around him. "These strange impulses—unlike any metal I've ever sensed."

Magneto could sense the vibrations of metal—it was his gift, his mutation, his power. And now he was feeling something unfamiliar, pulsing faintly, like signals sent into deep space in hopes of being noticed.

He was certain—whatever he was sensing was important. And more than that, he hoped it was tied to his son's death. On the last day he saw him, he'd felt similar waves—faint, almost unnoticeable. At the time, he'd dismissed them, and now he regretted it deeply. Maybe this was a chance to find his son's killer.

"I'll find you..." The hatred inside Erik burned like fire, his eyes bloodshot with fury. When he found the one responsible, he would kill their family… and then them. Slowly. Painfully.
