Chapter 7 - Chapter 7- Eventful Week

It was a particularly cold Autumn morning, a month had almost completely passed since our arrival at Hogwarts, and here we were, a group of five, walking side by side towards the greenhouses for our Herbology lesson. Ginny clutched at my arm and we walked together, huddling for warmth. The others made use of their winter robes and warm clothing.

Once we reached the greenhouse, however, the atmosphere was much different. The warm air spread out over our pale and cold faces, void of happiness. The weather had the lake frozen over and the sun seemed to have gone on permanent vacation. Ginny and I had taken a double table while, Harry, Ron, and Hermione had taken a three-person table and bench in front of us.

For the first time in the last few weeks, we were allowed to use our wands, it seems like a few charms were included in the herbology syllabus. This included the water charm and the growth charm, the two-hour-long double period would be split evenly between the two charms, and we would be required to further practice these charms for homework.

Soon there were shouts and voices of people chanting the incantation, "Aguamenti!" Ginny and I had a hard time for once with the charm, but towards the end of the lesson, we had watered every single plant in the greenhouse, only other people to do it were Hermione, Harry, Ron and a couple of Ravenclaws, I guess my brother and Ron weren't completely useless.

We spent the next hour working on the growing charm, this required much more focus than we thought, every fiber of your being almost had to be focused on what's in front of you, in our case this was the plant growing charm so we had a plant (duh!). The incantation was "Herbivicus!" but Ginny and I could focus when we wanted to and soon enough we had our plants almost up to the ceiling, 20 points to Gryffindor!

The following days were filled with anticipation for our first flying lesson, which had been delayed due to the horrible weather, but on this particular Thursday, the sun was out gently and the ground for once wasn't icy and frost-white. We met Gryffindor and Slytherin with Madam Hooch on the castle grounds. She looked around the class and nodded as if choosing the ones that looked talented in her mind.

She told us to step up to the brooms, towards the left, and say "Up!" Harry, Ginny, and I got the broom up, and grudgingly so did Malfoy. Once all of us had got brooms in our hands, in Neville's case, he had to just pick it up Madam Hooch cleared her throat and announced, "Now, children, mount your brooms, get a good grip, and kick off slightly from the ground."

Everyone managed to achieve this, but as we all expected, if you add Neville and a broom into the same Cauldron, then you get a burnt stove and an exploded cauldron. He rose above what he should have been doing, losing control of his broom, Neville swirled and whirled, twisted and turned, and did loop the loops before plummeting to the ground, falling on his wrist, the crack of bones could be heard throughout the castle grounds.

Madam Hooch pushed through the crowd and announced that she would take Neville to the medical wing where Madam Pomfrey would take care of his wrist, we were threatened to not fly on pain of expulsion. In the microsecond after the authority figure, Draco Malfoy began his standard Bitchiness, he grabbed the remembrall that Neville had gotten and was holding it in his hands, seeing me lunge for it, he shot into the sky.

"What's the matter Potter, too scared to fly?!"

I could hear Harry rage beside me, every one of our friends warned us to stay down and wait for Madam Hooch. I turned towards Ginny and she understood immediately, passing me her broom, I mounted my own and flew up to Malfoy, Harry in the suit.

The little Pissant had thrown it to the ground, all I saw was Harry diving and I remembered pulling something out of my pocket, something like a bowl, it was a green snargaluff pod, I had from Herbology I had grown with the Herbivivus charm, I remember throwing it up and taking aim, I swung Ginny's broom, making contact with the pod, which flew into Malfoys mouth, making him choke and fly to the ground, on all fours as he coughed up the Snargaluff pod.

I returned Ginny's broom, but the next sight was what terrified me, it was McGonnagal. I gulped as she walked over, "Mr Potter and Mr Potter please follow me now."

We followed Professor McGonagall through the castle but judging by the route we were not going to her office, instead, Harry and I found ourselves walking along the route to charms. once we had reached Flitwick's classroom, McGonnagal turned and said, "Mr. Potter's please wait a moment."

She walked into the classroom and said to Flitwick, "Can I borrow Wood please, professor."

Wood was a 5th year, old with a strong, stocky build, he nodded at us and was somewhat surprised by my height at my age and muscles.

"Wood I have found you a seeker and a new beater!"

(*Author's note, I know Fred and George were beaters but in this fic, they don't care for playing the game, only one of them would be a beater so who will it be Fred or George, read on to find out!*)

Wood had pure ecstasy on his face, he regarded us making comments on how strong I was and how tall, he said I was the much-needed replacement for George Weasley who had left the team last year, only Fred now remains as a Weasley on the team as the other Beater.

"Now, Mr.Potter's we shall bend some rules but we could make this possible, I mean you're natural, you take up after your dad, James!"

I spoke for me and Harry, "Thank you, professor, we will write home and ask for brooms, probably the Nimbus Two Thousand, our parents won't object."

"Well, in that case, it's decided, are you happy Wood?"

"It seems so, Professor, It seems so!"
