Chapter 20 - I'm fine

After the treatment, I hugged Tae (태). He was essential to my life; I depended on him. People say love can make you do abnormal things, and in that moment, I understood. After what seemed like seconds of silence, I pecked his temple. "Don't do that to me again," I whispered.

"Kimmi, you don't have to worry. I'm fine. Don't be sad," he said, feigning a smile to cheer me up.

"Can you just stop acting like you're fine? Let me care for you, love. Let me pamper you, even though you are older." I chuckled. "My love does not care about our age difference. I love you unconditionally," I said.

"That sounds like a confession," he giggled. I pinned him on the bed and hovered over him. Even though he was more masculine than me, my presence made him blush.

"Are you trying to tease me, huh?" he asked with a sly smirk.

"What are you planning?" I asked, looking at him playfully.

"I was planning on being intimate with my baby," he said.

"Are you not exhausted from the trauma?" I asked, my voice slightly pained, but I tried to hide it under a joking smile.

"Hey, you don't have to blame yourself. Just come here," he said, gesturing for me to lean closer. I did so, and he bit my nose.

"Hey!" I complained.

"That's your punishment. If you blame yourself again, I'm afraid I'll have to keep my distance," he stated.

My eyes widened. "Hey, but it's unfair! How can you blackmail me?" I asked, pouting.

"Then deal with it," he smirked. He was just being himself. I could never argue with him. "Fine... I give up," I conceded.

"That's my good girl," he complimented, stroking my hair.

"Who's up for some fun?" he asked.

"I'm not interested in fun," I said, trying to maintain a facade.

"Aww," he seemed sad.

"I want to be intimate with my boyfriend," I said with a mischievous smirk, then pounced on him. "Let's work on our clothes now," I said, and with that, I ripped off his clothes. I did the same with mine. We were left in only our shorts. We began to kiss passionately. I closed my eyes as the fire slowly engulfed me. I remembered thinking I wouldn't see him again, wouldn't hold him. No... Yanyan (얀얀) had to pay, and it didn't matter what I did to get back at her.

I kissed him, then tasted something wet and salty. Tae (태) pulled back and hugged me. "Ul-jima (울지마) (don't cry in Korean)," Tae (태) said. I had not realized my emotions had overwhelmed me, and I was crying.

"Please promise me you will never walk alone until we catch Sulin (수린)," I pleaded, my voice desperate. My eyes, for the first time, showed immense fear.

"Kim, are you okay?" Tae (태) asked.

"Gwenchana (괜찮아) (I'm okay)," I whispered, and just like that, I fell asleep.

A Disturbed Dream

The room was dark, holding an eerie atmosphere. 'Hahaha,' I could hear a familiar giggle, fading away. I was on the verge of losing my mind. If this continued, I would definitely lose my sanity. But it seemed to want to torment me.

"You claimed that you loved me," a calm voice said.

"Yes, babe, I love you," I replied, searching for the voice, but it was only an echo in my head.

"But why did you let your dad kill me?" Now the voice was harsh and seemed to mock me.

"He also killed me, Jin-a. My father killed me, and now we are together," I desperately tried to explain.

"No, I wish I never loved you. I wish I stayed away from you. You are the cause of my death, Kim," he said. No! I was screaming internally.

"You said you would protect me, Kim! Why did you let Sulin (수린) and Yoona (윤아) abduct me illegally?" Now it was Taeyang's (태양) voice, filled with malice. Together, their voices rang in my head.

"Kim... Kim... Kim!" My name was being called, and "Ahhhhh!" I screamed as my eyes shot open.

"I've been calling you for who knows how long. Are you alright?" Tae (태) asked, studying me. I was soaked in sweat. My heart was beating rapidly, and my breathing was very quick.

"Tae (태)!" I finally managed to say, and hugged him.

"Shh... Daddy's here for you, okay?" he said, kissing my forehead. He held me tight.

"Do you think I'm the reason behind your abduction?" I blurted out suddenly.

"How could you say that, Kim? I thought we... Wait, don't tell me that...? Kim?" He was speechless.

"Tae (태), I'm sorry," I said. He let me go and abruptly stood up.

"I think I'll just sleep in the parlor," he said, taking a pillow and leaving. I ran after him and caught up with him near the stairs.

"Babe, I'm sorry," I pleaded. Deep down, I was...

"You aren't," he said coldly.

"I swear, cross my heart, babe, I'm sorry," I insisted.

"Kim... how could you? Look... Just take a look at yourself. I was the one who was kidnapped, but who is suffering from the trauma? Kim, can you act more mature than this?" he angrily said, trapping me between his arms. His tall figure hovered over me, and I could smell his scent. For a moment, I forgot what was happening and became engrossed in his scent. Shortly after, I fell asleep.

Tae's POV: A Troubling Revelation

After Kim fell asleep, it felt strange. This was the second time he had fallen asleep so unexpectedly—first when we were being intimate, and now again. Then, I heard someone sigh.

"Please take care of my son..." I heard Old Woo (우) say. I greeted him.

"Kim is sick, but he doesn't know. He is suffering from inner depression, but doesn't know. He also has a brain tumor. But I am trying my best to get the best treatment for him," Old Woo (우) explained. I could feel the hurt in his voice.

"Kim is just so stubborn. What do you think is causing his sickness?" I asked as I adjusted Kim in my arms.

"He seems to be stuck with his past, and any shocking experience will add to it," Old Woo (우) said.

"I never knew Kim was like this. I wish I had known earlier, but it's okay," I replied. We exchanged goodnights, and I carried Kim back to his room and cuddled him closely.
