Chapter 30 - 30.Training,tactics and coordination.

The morning sun cast long shadows over the forest path as the caravan rested briefly beside a sparkling creek. Baker stood across from Captain Selene Ironhart, spear in hand, the hum of his Enduring Body Magic flowing quietly beneath his skin. His aunt, Clarisse, and her personal maid — a tall, lithe elf with centuries of combat experience — stood nearby, observing critically.

The elf maid, had sharp emerald eyes and a poised, calculating stance. She had traveled with Clarisse for decades, accompanying her through pilgrimages, healing missions, and occasional skirmishes. Her long life had made her patient, precise, and deadly in combat.

"Alright, Baker," Selene said, twirling her spear lightly. "Let's see how your Enduring Body performs in a real sparring match. No holding back."

Baker nodded, muscles lightly reinforced, healing flows active but low-cost, maintaining him at a steady state. "Understood."

Clarisse gave a small nod. "Remember, Baker, observe and adapt. Meryl will assist if needed, but the focus is on coordination and timing."

Meryl inclined her head slightly, stepping forward. "I'll act as support, countering predictable attacks and testing your ability to respond to simultaneous threats. Keep your mind sharp, young master."

Sparring Begins

Selene lunged first, spear aimed at Baker's side, testing his reflexes. Baker sidestepped, muscles absorbing the impact of his sudden twist, and aimed a calculated strike at Selene's shoulder. He struck with precision, targeting a weak point in her armor, but controlled enough to avoid real injury.

Selene smirked. "Not bad. You've got timing… but I'm not going easy."

Meryl moved silently to the flank, creating pressure from the side. Baker felt the shift in mana around him as she subtly reinforced her stance with low-level combat magic. He pivoted, attacking her lightly with the flat of his spear to test her defenses, and she parried effortlessly, guiding him to adjust his aim.

Clarisse watched, smiling faintly. "Excellent. Notice her patterns, Baker. Anticipate, don't just react."

Baker adjusted his stance, letting his Enduring Body Magic flow continuously, healing minor strains and reinforcing his muscles with each movement. He began aiming at precise weak points: joints, arms, legs, and even openings in armor. Each strike was deliberate, efficient, designed to test without causing lasting harm.

Selene and Meryl pressed him from different angles, forcing him to adapt, pivot, and anticipate simultaneously. Baker felt the thrill of challenge: his body reacting automatically, healing and reinforcing, his mind calculating trajectories and angles with speed and clarity.

They spared until the felt the training was sufficient then changed partners and focused on coordination training.

Coordination with Support

"Baker, her left side is exposed!" Meryl called, feinting an attack toward Selene while leaving a gap. Baker pivoted, striking the precise weak point she indicated, while maintaining defense against Selene's follow-up strike.

Selene laughed, impressed. "Now that was clever. You're learning coordination fast."

Clarisse's eyes twinkled. "Good. Your endurance and precision improve when you observe and adapt. Remember, combat is as much about awareness as it is strength."

Baker allowed a brief smile, feeling the flow of mana in his muscles, steady and controlled. He no longer needed external aid for energy or recovery — his body had internalized the combination of reinforcement and healing.

Aftermath and Reflection

The sparring session ended with all four participants breathing lightly but smiling. Baker flexed subtly, letting Enduring Body Magic return to a passive hum.

Selene approached, eyes bright. "I have to admit… this is the most controlled, efficient sparring I've ever done. You combine healing, reinforcement, and precision beautifully. And Meryl's support showed you how to handle multiple threats at once."

Baker nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. "It's… a combination of magic, observation, and practice. The Enduring Body flows naturally now. I don't need external aids anymore — I can sustain it indefinitely at its lowest setting, adjusting when necessary."

Meryl inclined her head slightly. "You've improved remarkably. Your timing, anticipation, and ruthless precision show your potential. Just remember: efficiency is key. Don't overcommit unnecessarily."

Clarisse placed a hand on his shoulder. "Well done, Baker. You're learning not just to fight… but to coordinate, adapt, and survive. That's far more important than brute strength."

Baker allowed himself a small smile, feeling a quiet pride. With magic, cooking, healing, and combat… I can help anyone, anywhere.

The caravan resumed its journey, the forest stretching endlessly ahead. Baker's thoughts drifted to the road, the creatures they might encounter, and the meals he would prepare from whatever the forest provided — all while refining his magic and skills, stronger, faster, and wiser with every step.
