"An Ancient God, yet you provide protection to a mere mortal," Xing'e asked, "may I inquire as to why?"
His calm gaze fixed on Elder Shui. Facing such an ancient deity who had lived through countless ages, Xing'e could feel an abyss-like, almost Ruins of Return-esque, vast power emanating from him.
This power was sacred and majestic, mixed with an unquestionable, immense coercive force.
A divine decree bestowed by the heavens.
It was the true Power of Heaven and Earth!
"Why?"
With a faint smile, Elder Shui looked down, glancing at the longsword Xing'e tightly clutched. "Because… it pleases me."
"Pleases you… Heh. A fine reason," Xing'e remarked, his tone flat yet carrying a hint of sharp edge. "Today, with an Ancient God as his guarantor, this child's life is indeed secure. But though one may escape for a time, they cannot hide forever. An Ancient God may protect him for a moment, but I fear not for his entire life."
