"I..I don't understand." Raven says with a saddened heart. "Isn't that why you possessed this man's body? To help me escape?"
Her master moves over to her and picks her up. He stares at her, his eyes filled with sadness. "Have you forgotten what I've told you? You need to overcome adversity to become stronger. I've pampered you far to much over these decades. And now your power has stagnated."
"What good is power if I'm dead?" She yells.
"If you can't overcome this, then it was never meant to be. I can't keep interfering with fate everytime someone I care about might die. I carry about all werewolves, but I can't save everyone. I'd never have to save everyone."
Raven starts sniffling. She doesn't understand why he would give her a lame excuse like that. Not after everything he's done for her. She starts to cry.
"I get it. I haven't lived up to your expectations."
"That's not true at all." He hugs her tightly. "I will always love you no matter what. Remember when we first met? You were but a starving child on the street. Do you know how many starving children I walked past without a second thought before I saw you?"
Raven wipes away the tears in her eyes. "Why me? Why am I different? Why didn't you let me die like the rest of them?" She starts to get angry. Her voiced slightly raised. "You always talk about fate, but it seems like you only act against it when it suits you."
Raven tries to punch him to let out her frustration. "Don't you understand what they'll do to me if I don't give them what they want? They'll torture me, and probably kill me after I'm done being useful."
"Raven." He says in a calm voice. "I didn't have anyone there for me when I faced adversity. When I stared death in the face. Fate didn't allow me to die. If you can't kick the shit out of Burns, what happens when you run into a similar situation and I'm not here to help? Are you going to be strong enough?"
Too many emotions were running through her for her to respond. Her master was the one who raised her. And yet here he is risking her life because of some twisted idea. She wriggles her way out of his grasp and plops onto the ground.
"Stop acting like your my father. We aren't blood related, why don't you actually spend time with your son? Oh, wait. You don't because your a terrible parent. What good is defying fate if I have a zero chance of getting the fuck outta here? Do you want me to die? Because that's what's going to happen. And it'll be all your fault. I hope you kill yourself out of regret after I'm dead. No, better yet. You live the rest of your life with the guilt knowing that's it's your fault. I hate you. I wish you'd let me die that day so I wouldn't have had such a..."
Raven cuts herself short after rambling for so long. She had to calm herself somewhat to think what she wanted to say next. Her words had flowed out of her like a river, but now she knew how to truly hurt him.
"You'll die alone. No one will care about you if this is how you treat your followers, let alone your own stepdaughter. And what about your dead sister? Did you let her die as well?'
"ENOUGH!" He shouts. Raven was taking back by this. She knew she pushed him hard, but he never yelled at her before. "This is how it has to be. I'm sorry that I can't tell you why. This needs to be done in order to stop them. If there was another way, a way to not put your life at risk, I'd do it in a heartbeat, even if it costs me my life."
He clenches his fists to the point where they draw blood. He clenches his teeth before relaxing his body. "I came here to see you just in case this is goodbye forever. I don't care if you hate me. Just don't bring her up. I know you're angry. I would be too. I just want you to know that this is the only way. I'm sorry I have to put you through this. You can hate me for the rest of your life, but I will never stop loving you."
Raven was lost for words. This was too much for her to handle. Of course she wanted to trust him, she just couldn't belive that he would wilfully sacrifice his own daughter for the greater good. That is of course if he even knows this would help them in the future.
How could he know these things? And why couldn't he tell her why he knows? It all sounded like bullshit to her. How could he know this would help if he didn't know if she'd die here or not? That confirms it for her. He couldn't know the future.
This was just some kind of sick game he's playing. Gain her trust, and throw her away when she's no longer needed. It's just like Skoll said, everyone is replaceable. She now knows who put that idea in his head.
Her master was contemplating on what to do next. Unbeknownst to Raven, he was telling her the truth. He couldn't tell her why he couldn't rescue her. Because right in front of his eyes were hundreds of of floating roapes each with a different color showing him which choice to take that would allow him to achieve the goal he set.
Thanks to one of his powers, he couldn't see the future, but it would lead him onto the right path. As he thought about more choices he could make, more ropes would appear. All of them were red accept for one that was green.
'It won't allow me to recue her, but this option will at least give her a chance.' He thinks as he grabs onto the rope. 'When this is all over, I'll never use this power again. Not if it means the death of the wolves I care about. Even if it leads to a better future for everyone.'
The ropes in front of his dissappear and he turns his attention back to Raven. "You're right. I apologize. I'll help you escape."
The soldiers body falls limp onto the floor as her master's aura leaves the human. Another soldier who is close to Raven's cell grabs his head as he starts to get a massive headache.
Dark aura flickers around his eyes for a second as Raven's master takes control of his body.
"Are you okay?" A who was standing near him says.
The Master lifts his head and smiles at the soldier while walking towards him. "I've never felt better in my life."
As he gets within arms reach, he jabs his fingers into the soldiers eyes with one quick motion. Putting enough force into it until he felt the resistance of his skull.
The soldier immediately starts screaming after his eyes had been gouged out. The master stands over him as the soldier falls onto his knees.
"Sorry about this. I just need to let off some steam."
