Chapter 11 - Episode: 3 [The Life]

The intiverse had transformed into a vicious-looking beast with two arms and two legs; that part never changed, always resembling that of those foul humans.

His size had grown, and the body had hardened, with several parts of his body having a rocky texture. His level had increased from a building level to now a whole block level.

My energy had been transferred to the boy, but I didn't feel anything, no drainage of energy or fatigue. Was it my imagination, or did I get it all wrong?

The intiverse hand, thick and covered in stony texture, swung at me; he was quick, not as quick as I was, but still it hit me on the side.

I was thrown away and crashed against the wall of the warehouse. The sound reverberated and bounced back at me.

I sprawled on the ground, and a dent was made in the wall. The throw was powerful; I have to admit that. I got to my feet and swung my sword.

He rushed at me, his hands clasped and raised. He wanted to end this as quickly as possible. As his big fist descended to break my body, I rolled to my side.

"You're a quick one." He said, smiling. "That's what you have, not strength to defeat me but to run away from me."

He was trying to provoke me into fighting him, charging at him without thinking; this was what he wanted, only his imagination of believing how easily the other party would act.

They never consider what the other person thinks but rather form their own imagination.

I smiled, my palm stretched towards him. For him there was nothing happening, just an arm stretched, but what he couldn't see was that I was absorbing his emotion. If he had strength, I would fight him with strength.

My strength began to elevate; strangely enough, it wasn't only me; I could feel it. Goun stretch was also increasing.

"Hey, Kid!" I said, looking at him at the same time I evaded The intiverses attack.

I rolled on the ground and pulled myself to my feet next to Bentend and Goun.

"You will start fighting," I said.

"Me?" Betend asked, confused and terrified.

"No, him."

Instead of explaining, I grabbed Goun by the collar and heaved him towards the approaching Intiverse while transferring the energy I had absorbed from the beast's emotions into him.

Not only strength but also his agility, speed, and perception increased. When the fist of the intiverse was about to hit his nape, his body moved flexibly, and his arms wrapped around the wrist and then around the end of his arm.

Cracks appeared in his arm, a clear sound. Goun hadn't realised it, but he was fiercely holding him as if all he was doing was a subconscious process.

The pain reached the intiverse's head as he groaned before smashing Goun onto the ground. Saliva came out of the boy's mouth as his back hit the hard floor.

That was an impressive move; it was more than impressive.

I stepped in; my blade was in my arms. Light glistened on the blade as it absorbed it, cutting the air like nothing and gliding in the air towards the targeted position, which was the neck side.

It went in, but only half. I was unable to cut the whole of his neck; it was a tough part of him. I clicked my tongue and lurched back.

He staggered backwards, his hand on his neck. He was groaning. By now, Goun had gotten up. His expression was filled with bewilderment. Not that we had time for it.

Before I could attack the intiverse something came from behind and pierced through the intiverse's chest. It was a wooden staff.

The intiverse head turned; he looked behind him. It was the last sentry that I hadn't killed; I left him for interrogation, but it turns out he was against these people, albeit that option was still in question.

The intiverse chest began to turn gray and green. His rocky flesh was turning rotten and falling off his body.

"I knew you were the traitor." He said, "Only if they had agreed with me." He tried attacking him, but it wasn't possible. He suddenly had grown too weak, not having the strength to even move his finger.

The magic sentry didn't say anything and only smiled.

My face hardened; this wasn't the magic sentry I had detected. Simply put, he was much more powerful than before. I couldn't say he was intiverse either.

The Intiverse fell to his knee, and his upper body fell to the ground, decaying as if worms were eating up his body.

The magic sentry raised his hands high. "You're the new intiverse who joined yesterday, right?"

So he was from that group. I lowered my sword and curtly nodded.

"My name's Calten Wassp. Call me Calten, if you don't mind." He strolled up close; his arms were still raised.

"The old geezer requested me to help you get that guy." He pointed at Goun. "And also I wanted to show you something."

Just then the abductees peered from the corner of the gate as they saw us standing and the sentries down dead on the ground. They dashed towards us; I was on guard, my sword in hand.

Two of the kids, no more than eleven or twelve years of age, came at me. I flinched, a little startled. Both of them hugged me; tears fell off their cheeks.

Was I about to kill them? I thought that. The kids were thanking me. This strong emotion of gratitude and fear—what was this?

"From that look, you never had anyone hug you before?" Said Betend, that damned crooked grin on his face.

He was a crooked fool.

"You will get those quite a lot." Calten said he lowered his arms and pulled out his staff out of the lifeless intiverse chest. "These kids were about to be sent off to the confidential experiment department. You might have obtained enough information from Nithim; I don't have to explain it myself."

"What about them?" I asked. "What experiment would they perform?"

"There are many sorts of them; some I don't want to even explain." His voice lowered, "You better be happy that you saved them, or else you would have regretted the whole of your life."

Why would I regret something that's not my matter? I'm no hero to come to them as their saviour.
