[Prequel to Checkmate, scheduled to come out late 2025] 

City Z has a reputation of being the center of ability users in all of Asia, as well as being the homebase of many organisations. Amongst those is Roses; a rising organisation founded by a small group of friends and led by a girl with a seemingly easy going personality. 

Kang Seojun who had recently turned 20 came face to face with a problem he had been avoiding until the same issue was raised by his younger brother, and that is what is their future going to be? Seeing his friends having their lives planned out, he realised apart from doing whatever his parents wanted, he had never made a decision of his own. 

In the midst of his dilemma, the leader of Roses approached him with an opportunity to work for them for 3 months, a trial period. 

The question is, what will this 3 months do for him? Will he find a reason to stay permanently? Will he return to university? And will he, be able to see a future carved out by himself?

Hello Uri here, not with a long awaited new chapter unfortunately but here to tell you that Checkmate side story will be going on an indefinite hiatus. The reason for this decision is that I genuinely do not know what direction the story is going in and have begun to lose motivation for its writing. So rather than 'ruining' it because I can't understand what I'm trying to portray, I have decided to put the story on pause until I figure out how I want it to be written.


I apologise as this is sudden but thank you to everyone who has read this story, I appreciate all of you and your support but this will be goodbye for now.
