Ash pov:-
my heart soaring with the thrill of our latest adventure. With the Ancient Dragonite now part of my team—its Ultra Ball a comforting weight in my pocket—I had three Pokémon from the Dragonite evolutionary line: my Female Dragonite, male Dragonair, and the legendary guardian from Dragonite Island. Pikachu, buzzing with energy from his recent level boost, scampered at my side, his cheeks sparking with excitement. Cynthia, Misty, and Sabrina walked with me, their laughter mingling with the breeze, while Brock trailed behind, muttering about a new recipe inspired by the island's Berries. The Indigo League's gonna feel this, I thought, a grin tugging at my lips.
As we approached my house in Pallet Town, a familiar figure caught my eye—Gary Oak, pacing in front of the gate like a Meowth in a thunderstorm, his face twisted with impatience.
"Oh, if it isn't Ashy-boy," he called, his voice dripping with mock sweetness.
"The guy who challenged me to a Pokémon battle and completely forgot about it. I came to remind you I'll be waiting at Gramps' lab. But first…" His eyes flicked to Cynthia, narrowing with curiosity. "Who's the tall beauty beside you?"
I flashed a smile that made Gary's smirk falter. "Oh, her? She's my third girlfriend—and the regional Champion of Sinnoh. Meet Cynthia."
Gary's eyes widened to the size of a Psyduck's, his jaw dropping. "Third… girlfriend? And the Sinnoh Champion?" His voice cracked, jealousy flickering across his face. "Tch, so what? Just because you wooed a Champion doesn't make you better than me. I'll be waiting at Gramps' place—don't flake out!" With a huff, he sprinted toward Professor Oak's laboratory, his pride clearly stung.
Cynthia tilted her head, a playful smile curving her lips. "Who was that boy?"
"Just my childhood friend," I said with a shrug. "Always trying to one-up me. Let's head inside."
The door swung open to the warm aroma of fresh-baked cookies. Mom—Delia—and my little sister Ember rushed out, Ember's tiny arms flailing with excitement. "Big brother!" she squealed, leaping into my arms. Delia enveloped us in a hug, her eyes shining. "Welcome home, everyone! I've got snacks ready—tell me everything!"
We settled in the cozy living room, munching on Oran Berry tarts while I shared tales of Dragonite Island, keeping the system's role vague for Mom and Ember's sake. My wives exchanged knowing glances, their bond with me unspoken but strong. Ember giggled as I hoisted her onto my shoulders, her small hands tugging at my cap. "To Professor Oak's lab!" I declared, leading the group out, Ember's laughter echoing like a melody.
The lab buzzed with the hum of machines and Pokémon calls. Professor Oak waited at the entrance, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Ash! That Steelix —its crystalline structure is remarkable! I've learned—" But before he could dive into his findings, Gary barged in, his impatience boiling over. "Gramps, hold it! Ash and I have a score to settle. A 1v1 battle—Krabby vs. Krabby. Time to prove I'm the better trainer!"
Brock stepped forward, barely hiding a grin. "I'll referee. This'll be good."
As we moved to the outdoor battlefield, a familiar chime rang in my head, and the system panel flared to life:
Mission: Use Krabby to Defeat Gary's Krabby
Rewards: Potential Enhancer (Iron), Dragonic Essence Pill x1
Dragonic Essence Pill: Doubles trainer's physical fitness, triggers Dragonic Aura (50% more intimacy with Dragon-type Pokémon)
System Update: Detected that your Pokémon is Kingler, Krabby's evolved form. Battle level increased.
Reward Critical Hit: Potential Enhancer (Iron) → Potential Enhancer (Gold)
Dragonic Essence Pill x1 → Dragonic Aura Max Pill: Triples trainer's physical fitness, triggers Dragonic Aura (100% more intimacy with Dragon-type Pokémon)
My pulse quickened. A tripled fitness boost and a stronger bond with my Dragon-types? Gary's in for a surprise. I glanced at my Kingler's Poké Ball, its weight reassuring. The system's rewards were stacking up, and I was ready to show Gary what I could do.
The battlefield was lush under the afternoon sun, Ember cheering from Mom's side. Brock raised his hand, his voice steady but tinged with amusement. "Rules: 1v1 battle. Both trainers must use Krabby—no substitutions. The winner is decided when one loses the ability to fight. Begin!"
Gary struck a dramatic pose, kissing his Poké Ball with a flourish. "Come out, my heart!" A Kingler emerged, larger than most, its claws snapping with confidence.
Pokémon: Kingler
Level: 28
I smirked. So that's why he's so cocky. His Krabby evolved. "Ash, what's the holdup?" Gary taunted. "Too scared to release your Krabby? Or do you just not like it?"
Classic Gary, always poking for a reaction. His journey had been rocky—Giovanni's thrashing at Viridian Gym had left him rattled, and my cozy life with three incredible wives clearly stung his pride. I shook my head, chuckling. "Gary, I don't have a Krabby anymore. But I've got this." I tossed my Poké Ball, and my Kingler burst forth—its massive frame dwarfing Gary's, claws like steel anvils, aura pulsing with raw power from its recent evolution.
Gary's pupils shrank to pinpricks, his face paling. "No way… how?!"
Cynthia crossed her arms, smirking. "This is going to be fun," she whispered to Misty. Sabrina's eyes gleamed with quiet confidence, while Brock struggled to keep a straight face.
"Battle start!" Brock called.
Gary snapped out of his shock. "Kingler, Bubble Beam! Show him real power!" Bubbles frothed from his Kingler, shooting in a shimmering barrage.
"Dodge with Dig!" I commanded. My Kingler burrowed underground in a flash, the bubbles popping harmlessly on the dirt. Gary's eyes darted nervously. "Watch out—it's coming from below!"
My Kingler erupted beneath Gary's, its claws glowing. "Metal Claw!" The strike landed with a resounding clang, sending Gary's Kingler skidding back, cracks spiderwebbing across its shell. Gary gritted his teeth. "Vice Grip! Grab that oversized pincer!"
His Kingler lunged, claws clamping down, but mine was ready. "Hammer Arm!" I shouted. My Kingler's arm swung like a sledgehammer, shattering the grip and slamming into Gary's Pokémon with bone-rattling force. It staggered, barely standing.
Gary's face twisted with desperation. "Crabhammer—full power!" His Kingler charged, claw raised high, but I saw the opening. "Finish it with Guillotine!" My Kingler's massive pincer snapped shut, clamping around Gary's Pokémon with unyielding precision. The sheer force overwhelmed it, and Gary's Kingler slumped, eyes swirling in defeat.
Brock raised his flag. "Gary's Kingler is unable to battle! Ash wins!"
The crowd erupted—Ember's cheers the loudest, Delia beaming with pride, Professor Oak nodding approvingly. Gary recalled his Kingler, his face a mix of shock and begrudging respect. "Your Kingler… it's a monster," he muttered, shaking his head.
I walked over, offering a hand. "Good battle, Gary. You're getting stronger too."
He hesitated, then shook it, his jealousy softening. "Whatever, Ashy-boy. Next time, I'm taking you down."
The system chimed, its panel glowing in my vision:
Mission Complete! Rewards: Potential Enhancer (Gold), Dragonic Aura Max Pill
Potential Enhancer (Gold): Permanently boosts one Pokémon's potential to Champion tier
Dragonic Aura Max Pill: Triples trainer's physical fitness, grants Dragonic Aura (100% intimacy boost with Dragon-type Pokémon)
I felt a surge of energy as the system deposited the rewards in my inventory. My muscles tingled, as if the pill's effects were already teasing at my potential. Tripled fitness and a stronger bond with my Dragonite line? The League's in trouble. I glanced at my Dragonair's Poké Ball, imagining how the Dragonic Aura would deepen our connection.
Suddenly, a soft glow caught my eye. The Pokémon egg I'd been carrying—tucked safely in my bag—began to shimmer, pulses of light spilling from its shell. "Whoa!" I set Ember down, kneeling as the egg vibrated. Cynthia, Misty, and Sabrina gathered close, their eyes wide. Brock leaned in, whispering, "It's hatching!"
Cracks spread across the egg, and with a final burst of light, a tiny Pokémon emerged—a shiny Growlithe, its fur a dazzling silver instead of the usual orange, its eyes bright with newborn curiosity. It yipped, stumbling toward me, and I caught it gently, my heart swelling. The system scanned it automatically, the panel updating:
Pokémon: Growlithe ♂ (Shiny)
Level: 1
Potential: Champion
Ability: Turboblaze
Hidden Ability: Flash Fire
Skills: Bite, Roar
Intimacy: 255 (Max)
Turboblaze? I marveled. This little guy could negate abilities that blocked its moves—a powerhouse in the making. Its silver fur glinted under the sun, and Ember squealed, reaching out to pet it. "He's so cute, big brother!"
Delia clapped her hands. "Oh, Ash, he's beautiful! What will you name him?"
I lifted the Growlithe, its tiny paws kicking playfully. "Blaze," I said, feeling the name fit perfectly. "Welcome to the team, buddy." Blaze yipped again, nuzzling my hand, already brimming with trust.
Professor Oak adjusted his glasses, his voice tinged with awe. "A shiny Growlithe with such potential… Ash, you never cease to amaze me."
Gary, still lingering nearby, crossed his arms, trying to mask his envy. "Tch, beginner's luck. Don't get cocky, Ashy-boy."
Cynthia laughed, ruffling Blaze's fur. "Luck? Gary, you just saw what Ash can do. Better step up your game."
