Chapter 37 - --36--

The broadcast returned from the commercial break featuring the camera zoomed closely on a sweating Gunnar, as Cal and Marcus took turns pounding away at him in their corner. The ring ropes shook with every strike. The Apex Predators took over the match during the break.

Noah's voice came back through the broadcast table.

Noah: "And we're back, folks! The Predators have completely isolated Gunnar during the break! They have been tagging in and out like a well-oiled machine."

Irvin: "That's smart wrestling Noah. Keep the big man on your half of the ring, don't let him breathe."

In the corner, Marcus leaned up and drove his knee into Gunnar's ribs several times, before tagging Cal back in. Cal stepped between the ropes, smirking, and slapped Gunnar across the face in a provocative way.

The crowd gasped collectively, an audible "OHHHH" flowing through the arena.

Luke leaped up from his seat, clutching the sides of his head. "He just slapped him! He just slapped him!"

Tony chuckled, "That's what the Predators are, man. They are cocky, but they can't back it up."

Inside the ring, Cal leaned over towards Gunnar mocking him. "Where's your partner now, huh? Where's your Titan now?"

He tossed Gunnar into the turnbuckle yet again, and drilled him with a forearm while he was on the run. Gunnar staggered but did not fall, while the crowd began clapping in unison, a slow rhythmic beat, cheering for him. "TITANS! TITANS!"

Unfortunately, he had tagged in Marcus again, and the two men turned and each had a hold of each one of Gunnar's arms and slung him back down with a double suplex. The ring shook. Marcus rolled over and hooked the leg for a pin.

Noah: "One! Two-- No! Gunnar kicks out again!"

Irvin: "Pure muscle memory, Noah. This man is running on fumes!"

Brocke was standing on the opposite side of the ring, his massive arm reach over the top rope desperately. His face was bright red, veins visibly protruding from his neck, as he growled, "TAG ME! TAG ME!"

Gunnar looked up, his fingertips waving in the free air. Still too far.

Cal leaned over the ropes and replied to Brocke. "You will never get that tag, monster."

Then in a fit of ego he slapped Gunnar across the face hard again. The crowd booed, but this time the chorus was louder.

Noah: "That is completely disrespectful! Cal is pushing his luck!"

Irvin: "Or maybe he is making sure that Gunnar remembers who the boss is."

Cal's smirk disappeared immediately when Gunnar caught Cal's wrist mid-slap. The volume of the crowd increased as Gunnar's body shook with rage.

Gunnar roared and scooped up Cal in a burst of power and powerslammed him into the mat hard enough to shake the ring. Both men lay on the mat for a short time.

Then the camera cut between them as Cal crawled to Marcus slowly and Gunnar dragged himself back to Brocke.

Noah: "This is it! Both men doing everything they can to get the tag!"

Irvin: "And whoever gets to the tag first is about to flip this match upside down!"

As Marcus stretched outside the ropes and yelped for Cal, Brocke was beating on the corner with his fist and yelling for Gunnar to get going.

Gunnar reached out—and just as Cal slapped Marcus's palm, Gunnar slapped Brocke's.

The crowd went wild.

Brocke charged into the ring like a runaway freight train. As Marcus climbed through the ropes, Brocke's arm struck him like a steel beam. The initial clothesline laid him out. The second drove him back into the corner.

As Marcus stood around and tried to grab himself, Brocke snatched him and hurled him halfway across the ring. Marcus flew into the ropes, came sprinting back, and Brocke lifted him clean off his feet and plowed him into the mat with a spine-jarring powerslam.

Noah: "The Titans are awake! Brocke is unleashed!"

Irvin: "This is what happens when you leave the big man drowning too long."

Cal had managed to make it back to his feet and climbed onto the top rope, waiting his moment. As Brocke turned his back to him, Cal jumped into the air for another flying dropkick -

- but Brocke intercepted him midair.

The crowd erupted. The giant bellowed, adrenaline pumping through his veins, and in one motion he threw Cal out of the ring like a bag of potatoes. Cal hit the concrete outside, holding his back while the fans gasped.

Luke's mouth dropped. "He just threw him out like nothing!"

Tony laughed, "That's one way to fly first class!"

Marcus took a couple of seconds to stand on his feet behind Brocke, burning with anger in his eyes. He rushed in and swung a wild punch, not even getting the shot off before Gunnar, breathing heavy and sore, rushed through the ropes and hit Marcus across the shoulder, nearly folding him in half.

The Steel Titans stood side by side and egged the crowd on with arms raised. The chants of "TITANS! TITANS!" rolled through the seats like thunder.

Noah: "And the crowd is loving it! The Titans have countered the whole mess!"

Irvin: "They look like possessed men! Marcus better find the door!"

Marcus got to his feet, dazed. Brocke and Gunnar shared a glance, nodded once, and grabbed Marcus on both sides.

Noah: "They are getting ready—here it goes!"

They lifted Marcus high into the air, held him for a heartbeat, and slammed him down with an expertly synchronized execution of their devastating finisher, Titan's Wrath, a two-man slam that left Marcus sprawled out cold.

Brocke covered him for the pin. The referee slid into place.

Referee: "One! Two! Three!"

The bell rang.

Noah: "It's over! The Steel Titans have done it! What a comeback!"

Irvin: "They took a beating, they ate every insult, but they stood tall. That's tag wrestling!"

Brocke and Gunnar stood, breathlessly, arms raised in victory as the referee handed them the win. The crowd was on its feet chanting their name.

Brocke and Gunnar rose, panting, arms raised high as the referee handed them the victory. The crowd was on its feet, chanting their name.

Luke high-fived Tony, unable to wipe the grin off his face. "That was unreal. Titans deserved that one."Tony nodded, almost begrudgingly. "Yeah… okay, I'll give them that. They earned it."
