At the farthest end of the corridor, Ling Hanxiao pressed against the bathroom door, but found it wouldn't budge.
The door was locked.
"Xiaoxiao..." Ling Hanxiao steadied his nerves, calling softly from outside the bathroom door, "Xiaoxiao, are you in there? It's me, will you open the door?"
The bathroom remained silent.
"Knock knock."
Ling Hanxiao tapped on the door twice, "Xiaoxiao, if you don't open the door, I'll find a way to come in."
"..."
He waited a few more minutes, but still no sound from inside. He couldn't wait any longer.
Ling Hanxiao's face showed some anxiety as he quickly ran to the study, opening drawers one by one to search.
After finding the keys, he ran back, click, and unlocked the bathroom door.
The bathroom was lit by an incandescent lamp.
Entering, Ling Hanxiao saw Gu Xiao sitting crouched on the toilet, hugging her knees, motionless.
"Xiaoxiao!"
Ling Hanxiao dashed over and embraced Gu Xiao's small body, his broad palm gently caressing her back.
