Little Nuomi was holding a strawberry with her tiny claws, ready to pop it into her mouth, when Qiao An glanced at her. Her claws loosened.
The strawberry fell.
She pouted pitifully, "Mommy, you owe me!"
Qiao An casually grabbed another strawberry and stuffed it into her little claws. "Strange, why is your aunt back so soon?"
"Yeah, why did Aunt come back?"
Qiao An sensed something wasn't right. Song Yunchi, that old fox, had gone to great lengths to take Mengmeng out. Would he really let her come home so easily?
Something must've happened!
"I'm going upstairs to check on Mengmeng!" Qiao An stood up abruptly and headed upstairs.
Little Nuomi excitedly slid off the sofa. "Mommy, Nuomi wants to go too!"
"No, you're staying."
She pressed her index finger against Little Nuomi's forehead, keeping her rooted in place.
Little Nuomi took a bite of her strawberry in grievance. "Why?"
"Stay here and keep Grandma company. Mommy's going to find your aunt."
