Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan did not expect that Situ Yin would call someone to relay a message to them after entering the ward for only two or three minutes.

Wen Yan watched him go in, stared for a moment, then turned and left to await news.
Inside the ward, Bai Xiaosheng saw Lu Cheng'an's family keeping vigil outside. Upon seeing him, they nodded politely in greeting. Not wishing to disturb the silence, Bai Xiaosheng nodded back graciously, treating it as a greeting.
At this moment, two attendants came forward to give him gloves, shoe covers, and a sterile cap, helping him dress.
