Chapter 145 - Chapter 145: Ghost King

Ghost King drifted effortlessly towards the outskirts of the city. He thought he could fly in this transformation. His glowing, hollow eyes looked around until he reached a large hill, where a circle of cloaked figures stood in eerie silence.

He smiled. He gripped his cane and rushed forward. He got to the men in the circle and swung his cane, its polished edge colliding violently with one of the cloaked men. The impact sent the man soaring through the air, his body twisting mid-flight before slamming into the ground, blood splattering across the rocky surface.

The remaining figures staggered back, their hoods shifting as they turned toward their fallen companion.

"Who are you?" one demanded. "You look like a demon but you are not one," he added.

Ghost King's smile widened. "I am Ghost King," he replied.

Another cloaked figure stepped forward. Why are you attacking us?" he asked.

Ghost King tilted his head. "Why not? You seem… annoying," he replied.

"Gravewalker's Grasp," he added as the ground shuddered and phantom hands, twisted and decayed, erupted from beneath. They snaked around the ankles of the cloaked men, tightening their grip with unnatural strength, dragging them downward.

"W-What is this?" another cloaked figure shrieked, struggling against the spectral grip.

The lead figure, the one who had questioned him, watched in horror as his allies were pulled beneath the surface, the ghostly hands radiating an aura of pure malice. His breath caught in his throat. "Who—what—are you exactly?" he asked.

Ghost King dashed forward. He swung his cane.

The cloaked man barely had time to react. He drew a dagger, instinctively raising it to block. Their weapons clashed. "We should be on the same side," the man attempted, desperation seeping into his words.

Ghost King let out a low chuckle, unbothered by the plea. "You and I are not the same," he said.

The man jumped back. "If you refuse to listen… this will be your death," he said. He created a circle with ancient markings on the ground. and uttered his next command. "Rise, my undead army," he added. The ground split apart, exposing glowing symbols, their energy surging in chaotic pulses.

Then several beastly figures megared. There were 5 of them. There was a large titan, a fusion of dinosaur and dragon. It had the head of a triceratops. It had a bulk crowned with serrated horns and a gaping maw lined with razor-sharp teeth. It was drooling. It had a slender long body and a long tail.

Next to it was a hulking, fur-covered bear. It had dark, hollow eyes and gnashing teeth. It was big and fat. It had sharp claws.

Then there were three wolves. They were lean. All three wolves had piercing eyes and bristling fur. One of the wolves had its flesh missing and its ribs can be seen. Another wolf had half its jaw missing.

Together, they emerge from a swirling vortex, standing atop a summoning circle.

"They are far stronger than the ones I sent to the city," the man said. "These will be your grave," he added.

"Are you really using the undead against me," Ghost King said. He laughed."I am a Hel, the God of Death," he added.

"Gravekeeper's Dirgebound Chains," Ghost King said as spectral chains burst forth from the ground. It coiled like serpents around the five monsters before him. They tightened abruptly, rattling and pulling the creatures downward, forcing them into the abyss below.

"W-What is this?" the cloaked men shouted.

The monsters thrashed, but the chains refused to loosen their grip, dragging them further into the shadows until they disappeared.

"I can't feel them," the cloaked figure gasped.

Ghost King's smile curled into something sinister. "They are mine now," he remarked.

The Ultimatrix symbol on his chokers pulsed. "Twilight Summon," Ghost King said as a massive summoning circle etched itself into the ground. It radiated black energy laced with green streaks.

From within the shadows, figures began to merge. Three cloaked men emerged first, their robes gleaming with unnatural green light.

Then there was the colossal titan, a fusion of dinosaur and dragon. Its triceratops-like head bore massive, serrated horns, framing a gap-toothed maw lined with razor-sharp teeth, drool pooling beneath its jaws. Its eyes glowed an unnatural green, piercing through the dark mist swirling around it.

Beside it, the hulking bear emerged, covered in matted, shaggy fur, its form unnaturally massive. Its hollow, empty eyes glowed green. Its jaws unhinged slightly, revealing rows of gnashing, serrated teeth which had the same eerie green glow as the Ultimatrix's energy.

Then, three wolves, lean and feral appeared. All of them bristled. The first wolf had patches of missing flesh, exposing its rib cage, the glow of green energy pulsing within.

The second wolf had half its jaw torn away, revealing the skeletal remains of shattered teeth yet within its hollow socket, a green ember burned, keeping it eerily alive.

The third wolf looked whole but its piercing green eyes carried something terrifying.

"Kill him," Ghost King ordered. The three wolves lunged toward the cloaked man with feral speed, their glowing green eyes burning with unnatural hunger.

The man drew his dagger, slashing at the first wolf, its flesh tearing under the blade. He twisted, kicking the second wolf aside before grabbing the third and hurling it away.

Before he could regain his footing, the hulking bear lumbered forward, its massive claws rising high. It slashed downward, hitting the man. The man staggered back, blood pooling at his feet.

The cloaked man thrusted his blade forward, sinking it into the bear's thick hide. The beast snarled, but did not falter.

Then, the titan charged. Its bulk surged forward, its serrated horns glinted beneath the eerie green glow of its eyes. With a thunderous collision, it headbutted the man, sending him soaring through the air, his body twisting violently before crashing into the ground. He spat blood, coughing as he tried to rise but the wolves returned.

They descended upon him. Their teeth sunk into his flesh. "Stop," he gasped. His strength was fading. The world around him darkened. He was losing consciousness. He closed his eyes and collapsed.

Ghost King observed in silence. "Leave him," he ordered. At his command, the summoned beasts stopped and let go. They came towards the Ghost King and bowed. He looked at the cloaked men who were bowing as well. "You have done well," Ghost King said. Their forms vanished into the darkness, returning to the depths from which they came.

Ghost King floated forward. He picked up the cloaked man with ease before turning toward the city.

He floated towards the city. As he neared, he looked around. He then Nell, Cera, Rachnera, Saya, Lois, Jasmine and Saeko standing before the church. There were a lot of undead on the floor dead.

He descended towards them and landed on the ground. He threw the man forward, letting his limp body hit the ground. The Ultimatrix pulsed, a red flash igniting the space with blinding light.

When it faded, Ghost King was gone and James stood in his place.

"Everyone okay?" James asked.

"Master," Cera as her ears flopped.

"Took you long enough," Saya responded.

"Who is he?" Jasmine asked as she saw the man dying. His cloak was covered in blood.

"The ring leader behind this attack but I suspect he has a boss," James responded.

"Please hand us over to us," Leillo requested as he approached them with his men.

"Sure, all yours," James responded. "We are heading back now," he added.

"Should we not take some reward?" Racherna asked. Her double axe weapon was covered in blood. James thought the ultimatrix symbol on it was interesting. There was something about it.

"We should let them rebuild, We will be back later," James responded.

"That sounds good to me," Lois said.

"Nell are you coming with us?" James asked.

"I will help out here and then maybe come," Nell responded. She was looking a little flushed.

"Make sure you come," Lois remarked.

The group all headed out of town.
