Eren awoke to soft light filtering through the wooden slats of the ceiling. He had a smile on his face. He could smell his mother's cooking clinging to the air. He stretched his arms. "Mum," Eren shouted.
Carla Yeager stepped in, wiping her hands on a towel, her eyes kind and full of life. She was an attractive, fair-skinned woman of medium height with a slender build. She had large light eyes, long dark hair tied loosely, hanging on her right shoulder with bangs on each side. She wore a cream-colored sweater with frilled sleeves and a long red skirt with a white apron and small tan boots. "You slept through breakfast again," she said gently. "There's still some stew if you're hungry," she added.
"There is," Eren responded back with a smile on his face. "I am going to eat it all," he added.
"Remember what we said on your 10th birthday, you need to wash up first," Carla responded with a smile on her face.
"I know mum, you said it before Mikasa and Armin," Eren responded. "They are coming today to play," he added.
"They will be here soon so get ready," Carla responded with a smile on her face. "Don't forget about your old mum when playing with them," she added.
"Mum, I love you, you have always been there for me since dad left," Eren said as he hugged his mum. "I will be there for you," he added.
"My strong little man," Carla responded. "Now go get ready," she said.
Eren smiled. He ran off. Then he heard a distant rumble that made the walls tremble. He blinked and opened his mouth, but something outside caught his attention. There was a low, distant boom. He rushed to the window, pulling aside the curtain. Eren froze.
He saw a massive plume of smoke spiraled into the sky, far beyond the rooftops. It looked like the land itself was bleeding. There was a loud sound in the air. He looked up and saw a trail of smoke. The clouds were split.
Eren then saw something. It moved around fast. There was smoke behind it. He saw it slicing the air. "What is that?" he questioned. Then two objects fired from it. The flying thing looped back at the last second. The other two objects erupted and struck the wall. He stared, his heart thudding like a drumbeat, as the shockwave rattled the glass.
The outer barrier burst like paper, chunks of stone soaring through the sky, fire swallowing the gaps. From the cloud of dust and ruin, he saw a large towering figure.
"Titan," he shouted as he watched the titan get into the city. She screamed loudly. Eren covered his ears. Then the titan sprinted straight through the gap. She ran towards a block of houses and crushed them.
Eren stumbled back. His mother rushed to him, pulled him close. "We need to leave," Carla shouted as she grabbed Eren's hand. They both ran through the hallway. The air tasted like ash.
Just outside their house he saw a girl. It was his childhood friend. She was a fairly tall and well-toned woman with pale skin, gray eyes, and shaggy black hair that was long. She wore a simple knee-length white dress, a light cardigan, brown boots, and her black scarf.
"Mikasa, we need to go," Eren shouted as he grabbed her arm.
Mikasa saw on the other side of town, there was another large smoke cloud arising in the distance. She saw another large titan walking through the gap. She could hear something else in the distance. `
Eren thought the need to get out of here. He grabbed her hand and they ran together.
"Mama, hurry," Eren called out. At that moment, there was another loud bang and large chunks of stone and roofs were in the air. They were coming crashing down.
Carla came running towards them and pushed Eren and Mikasa out of the way. There was a loud crash noise. Dust was swept into the air.
Eren and Mikasa both fell to the ground out of the way. Eren thought he bruised his arm. He looked up. His breath stopped.
A Titan loomed over his mother. She lay trapped under fallen beams. "Eren, I love you," Carla said. "Go survive," she added.
"Mum no," Eren cried back. "I will save you," he added as he pushed forward.
"Mikasa, go take him, I trust him in you," Carla said. "You have my blessings," she added.
Mikasa had tears in her eyes. She held Eren back. "Mikasa let me go," Eren shouted.
"Eren, mum," Mikasa muttered. She watched the titan behind her.
"Go you both, take care of each other," Carla shouted.
Eren looked at the titan bending over down. He grabbed his mum by the neck and picked her up. The titan had a smile on his face. Carla screamed. She looked down and smiled. "I love you Eren," she said as the titan put Carla in her mouth and ate her.
Eren couldn't move. He couldn't breathe. The world had crumbled, and he was only watching.
"Mum," he shouted. They ran. His vision was blurred from the tears. The sounds, the roars, the collapse, the distant thunder.
Mikasa saw it all. She looked at Eren devastated. She would protect him. She promised her. They got closer to the second wall.
All of a sudden they heard a roar. Then two smaller objects flew over them and struck the second wall. The wall started to crack. Misaka saw there was shelter nearby behind some rubble. She sprinted towards it and both Eren and Misaka hid behind it.
Eren looked up. He saw another titan. It was nearly 15 meters tall. His muscles were enormous, and encased in glistening, plated armor. He had deep-set eyes with a solid brow. His jawline was reinforced with solid armor. His hands were massive. His fingers were encased in layered plating. His legs were thick and had similar armor.
Then another Titan joined him. She had a skinless face which looked feminine. Her eyes were wide and cold. It was 14 metres high. Her fingers were sharpened claws.
They both looked at each other and the wall. Both the Titans swung their fist at the cracked wall and broke it. The wall crumbled. "No," Eren said.
One of the titan screamed and both titan walked back. They both spirited away.
Eren and Misaka saw something in the sky. They saw a figure which emitted a soft pink light. Its glow pierced the smoke, hovering above.
