Chapter 222 - Chapter 221 - The Girl Who Was Rescued.

[Chapter Size: 2400 Words.]

Third Person POV

London.

...

...

Lily stood there not knowing how long she had been awake since Severus left her—perhaps the stress or the flood of revelations—while he simply vanished.

Just like their last encounter, although that time, she was the one who ran.

When she realized everything, the first thing she did was seek help in the magical world to find out what had happened to her family.

Even without a wand, she managed to identify Aurors on her street, who were still investigating her house and Severus's. She drew attention when she began to set her backyard on fire using wandless magic.

Which she couldn't control very well.

Regardless, they approached her, surprised, as she reported what happened and tried to find out where her family was.

She still had the strange vial Severus gave her and hid it from the Aurors while they departed for the magical hospital of St. Mungo's, due to being under the effects of magical attacks, even though they were Muggles.

Lily found Penelope, the former nurse who had replaced Madam Poppy Pomfrey for a few years, and asked her for information upon arriving at the ward where her family was.

"I'll leave you alone now, Lily. I'm sorry." she said, needing to attend to other duties.

Lily knew it wouldn't be long before the Aurors began to show up seeking answers, but now her gaze fell on her family.

They had all suffered Unforgivable Curses, all because of her... Tears streamed continuously down her face as Penelope recounted everything that had happened.

She couldn't imagine facing them when they woke up...

Severus had said it was his fault, and Lily's gaze went straight to the finely crafted vial with a red liquid. He had said it was enough to care for her family.

Lily thought about Severus... If he was out there, fighting against all those wizards, with the powers he showed—even able to stop time and teleport her across the country.

Lily was worried and couldn't stop wondering if he was okay, but with a tightness in her chest, she believed that after all he had shown, he would be fine, and she had to take care of her family.

This was the same vial he had placed in her mouth, which healed all her wounds and even the Cruciatus Curse.

Cruciatus... Severus had taken several attacks head-on and even stepped in front of her to keep her from being harmed—Lily remembered that without knowing what to think.

At the same time he took the attacks, and didn't even care, as if they were nothing.

Severus... No, the one behind him... had proven trustworthy. As much as Lily mourned the death of her former friend, she couldn't think about that now, as she proceeded with the vial, pouring the liquid into her father's mouth, then her mother's, and finally her sister's.

The latter hated Snape, and now she was being saved by him—ironic.

Lily emptied the vial while their faces, pale and contorted from the Death Eaters' attack, began to change.

First, the color returned to all their faces.

Their breathing began to improve and the spasms they were experiencing stopped. They didn't wake up, despite the hope in Lily's eyes, but all of them were improving quickly.

"Thank you..." she only murmured internally.

Her gaze turned to the window as something caught her attention in the sky—a blue glow clashing against a distant green light. But the lights in the middle of the night stood out like tiny sparks miles away.

She looked at it with a touch of awe, until the lights disappeared, seeming to fall in the middle of London.

Everything seemed calm again, until explosions began happening in the distance, growing louder. Lily grew worried, and some staff members on that floor also stared out the window toward London.

Then a blue bolt of light appeared and a shadow raced through the city, causing destruction as it went, engaged in battle, and vanished from Lily's view the next moment.

"Severus?" She couldn't help but believe it was Severus somehow.

"What was that?! Look, it's the Aurors!" another staff member shouted in the room. Several brooms flew by shortly after.

It didn't take long before she saw more explosions in the distance.

"By Merlin! What's happening out there?!" people cried out, terrified.

Lightning began to fall from the distant sky, and things calmed down slightly as people started arriving at the hospital with the injured, seeking help.

Lily was forced to leave the room where her parents were and went to the reception in search of answers.

"They were fighting in Diagon Alley! Several shops and fireplaces destroyed! You-Know-Who used Fiendfyre!" a man exclaimed, covered in injuries.

"The two Dark Lords are fighting!!"

"This is terrible!"

"They're destroying all of London!"

"May Merlin protect us..."

Lily stood there, absorbing everything she heard with concern, deeply disoriented by the realization that Severus was fighting Voldemort right there. At the same time, she felt relieved that he was still alive after what had happened in that place.

Others arrived via Apparition and Floo Powder at that moment.

"They're fighting in the Ministry! It's chaos!" people shouted.

Lily stayed there for quite a while, listening to conversations and asking Penelope a few questions when she found her, then returned to the room.

But as if the night wasn't over yet, a loud crash came from outside and a bolt of lightning fell from the sky, bigger than any before. The rumble shook St. Mungo's itself, followed by a distant explosion.

When it ended, strangely, everything became calm. Then she started hearing nurses and staff exclaiming about what had happened.

She spent an hour staring out the window, but nothing else happened.

Until she began to feel tired and was about to rest.

Something caught her attention, making her alert again as she looked toward the beds. A blue light appeared on an empty bed near where her family was, and her eyes widened when she saw a small wand floating. It was her wand.

She approached slowly, picking it up, hardly believing it had returned. As she looked around, she saw no one—just people shouting outside, asking if Severus was there, but from there came only silence.

She woke early in the morning, clinging to the side of her mother's bed, the wand in her hands. After feeling so exhausted in recent days, she had finally fallen asleep, now slowly waking with countless thoughts.

"Lily." Lily heard a feminine voice and immediately looked up, seeing her mother staring at her.

"Mom?" Lily looked up in a daze. The woman seemed perfectly fine and didn't hesitate before hugging her.

"Mom, are you okay?"

"What happened, Lily? My memories are fuzzy." she asked urgently, trying to move. She had no idea why she was in a hospital with two other family members.

"It's all right now, Mom. Everything's going to be fine." she murmured, tears of gratitude in her eyes.

The woman simply accepted her daughter's embrace and accepted everything.

"I'll be right back. I'm going to check if everything's okay and call someone. Wait here." she said to her mother, as she stepped away and walked down the corridor.

She returned with Penelope herself, who had found her wandering the hallway.

The woman looked incredulous after hearing the news.

"How did this happen? Was it you who healed them?" she asked, seeing the woman in perfect condition, along with the girl Lily's age and the man — a strange contrast compared to how they had been just hours earlier.

"They're okay, aren't they?"

No matter how drastic the change had been, Lily only wanted to know if her family was truly well, without any lasting effects. The nurse checked, placing her wand on both the awakened woman, the man, and the girl.

"They're perfectly fine, Lily! I don't know how... There's no explanation. Did you do something?" she looked at Lily.

This family had suffered Cruciatus Curses at the hands of Death Eaters, and the man had been left on the brink of death — yet somehow, they all seemed fine.

"Severus gave me a potion to give them."

She didn't lie, already explaining what had happened, with the nurse clearly concerned after hearing about the events in the newspaper.

"Well... That's unexpected... but still, good." the nurse murmured, a bit lost in thought, thinking about Severus after saving Lily. Somehow, he had even helped Lily's family — but that didn't matter now.

"Lily, can you tell me what happened here?!"

The woman didn't stop pressing the girl, who kept dodging the questions.

"Mom..." Lily walked up to her. "Listen... bad men attacked our house with magic, but everything is fine now, I'm here with you." Lily reassured.

"I don't think you'll be able to stay with them now..." Penelope interrupted, turning her serious gaze back to the girl.

"We need to talk... Here's the thing, Lily: I didn't let any Auror enter this floor during the night. And you were without your wand, so I gave them that excuse. They've been waiting to speak with you since last night. Can you meet with them, or do you want them to barge in here by force?" she informed her, while Lily felt her chest tighten.

"What happened last night? Is Severus okay?" she asked. Obviously, it had everything to do with the chaos outside.

"Come with me." was all Penelope said as Lily followed her. Once they were out, the nurse continued.

"This interest of yours in Severus's current figure could get you in trouble with the Ministry." she murmured, as Lily pressed her lips together.

"Still... I want to know if he's okay. He saved me and my family!" she said stubbornly.

"He's fine. Escaped last night after fighting You-Know-Who in front of the Ministry, according to the newspaper." she told the girl.

"Did that really happen? And the other Dark Lord?" Lily insisted.

"You'll find out when you speak to the Aurors or read today's paper. The whole wizarding world is in shock."

That was all Penelope said, before exchanging a few more words with her mother, saying she'd return shortly, and heading downstairs toward reception.

The stares quickly gathered around her, with rumors and gossip spreading all night.

"Miss Evans! A word, please!"

A reporter approached her quickly, startling Lily.

"Stop that, Miss Evans is under Ministry orders at the moment, don't interfere."

Aurors stepped in to block the reporters.

People pointed at her, saying she had been saved by Severus Snape and that he had fought Voldemort right after, defeating him.

Lily had never received so much attention.

Quickly, one of the Aurors approached her.

"Lily Evans, are you all right? My name is Clovis Vuunih. I'd like to ask you a few questions now that you're more available."

She heard the man just before someone pushed him aside — none other than Alastor Moody, a member of the Order of the Phoenix and someone she knew. He approached her urgently, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Miss Evans, how are you? Did they hurt you?" he asked, and she shrank slightly.

"Yes, but I'm fine. I've been healed," Lily replied.

"That's great. We need to head to the Ministry while we still have time. Can you come? We're in the middle of a trial right now. I was just about to hex every nurse here to get to your room," he said, while Lily looked a bit surprised and dazed by it all.

"All right, but let me speak to my mother first," she said, and the man nodded.

In the end, Lily returned to speak with her family, finding her sister Petunia already awake, talking to their mother. When she saw her, Lily couldn't help but swallow hard at the look of pure resentment her sister gave her.

"This is all your fault! You and those magical freaks! You got our family hurt, all because of you!"

She screamed, and Lily felt her heart break at those words, while their mother only tried to calm her.

Her father still hadn't woken up. He was in the worst condition.

All Lily could do was turn around and walk out. There was no point in staying there. Her sister already harbored too much hatred. She didn't need to hear more.

In the end, she was taken by surprise to the Ministry, shocked by all the destruction in front of her.

Wizards were using their wands to repair the place, but it was completely wrecked — broken and cracked floors, shattered glass, and rooms left in ruins.

She had many questions, but Alastor told her to save her breath for the next room.

They entered a courtroom, and all eyes turned to them the moment the door opened.

"What is the meaning of this?" the judge shouted. His name was Bartemius Crouch, if Lily remembered correctly from the newspapers, pointing at Alastor Moody.

"I'm here with Lily Evans. I'm certain she can be very helpful to the trial," he announced, stirring a wave of murmurs from the audience, as everyone turned to Lily, making her shrink under the attention.

"Come with me," Alastor said after the judge granted permission.

That was when she saw someone facing away from her, in a black cloak, restrained in the center of the courtroom — the Hell. She looked on curiously, until she froze upon seeing who it was — chained up, or rather, what was left of his body.

Voldemort was there, bound to the chair, his face bruised and bandaged. He had no legs or arms. She stared into those red eyes for a moment, their gazes locking.

She could feel the pure hatred and immediately shrank back — more than she had ever felt from him, even the first time she saw him with Severus — as he stared her down, struggling to move, frightening many in the room, consumed by the desire for revenge against the girl the man who had defeated him had protected that night.

He might not be able to defeat him… but if he could just kill the girl he'd protected, he'd feel a little less humiliated.

But that wasn't Voldemort's reality. He was forced to remain there, listening to people list his crimes, learning that the vast majority of the Death Eaters were all dead.

All his plans, everything, had been destroyed.

And now, he was destined for Azkaban.
