Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Sword And The Brain

Thrain gasped, Jeremey had knocked his brother off his feet saving him from the knights slash. Quickly regaining his footing Thorin got up and moved back to his brother.

The boys were confused on how the knight could physically moved that fast.

Thrain focused again ready for battle as he felt an almost unnoticeable pull on his sword as the knight appeared in front of them not giving them the time to think.

Its sword raised above its head coming down heavier than before. The boys raised their blades to meet it's.

The sound of the swords grinding against each other reverberated around the room. They barely held on, the knight's blade felt impossibly heavy. Thrain noticed more pulling sensations around him as the blade's weight kept increasing. Thorin kicked at the knights leg causing it to lose balance. It's blade crashing into the ground.

How curious Thrain thought going through what the knight could do, a smile grew on his face as he formulated a plan. They backed up waiting as they had just done. Thrain felt the pull again this time throwing the blade at the knight.

"NOW! STRIKE THE BLADE!" Thrain screamed out. Thorin leaped as hard as he could into the air above the blade, letting gravity carry him to it. The knight appeared at the blade as Thorin sliced down, blade crashing into the knight's helmet.

Thorin felt his sword slightly pulse.

The knight swung its blade at Thorin, moments before the two blades the pulse Thorin had felt grew stronger. Suddenly Thorin and his blade were repulsed backwards through the air towards Thrain.

Thorin landed next to his brother. "He seems to have some weird magnetic ability, pulling him self to our blades or repulsing our blades away and in turn sending us flying" Thrain mumbled out loud.

His brother stood to the front while Thrain blended into the background getting closer to his blade. His brother and the knight began exchanged blows again as Thrain reached his sword. As soon as he grasped it he felt a pull. The sword raced towards the knight. No wait that's Thorin. Thrain being dragged along.

Bang

Thrain crashed into Thorin causing them both to tumble. Imminently focusing on the knight Thrain noticed as it's hand would clench ever so slightly tighter around his blade. Thorin got dragged over.

Thrain followed after his brother. If I'm right the knights blade is what allows him to use his magnetic abilities, considering it only started using its abilities after picking up its sword. Thrain watched the current clash waiting for just the right moment.

The knight readied its sword above its head, while Thorin was ready to block.

Thrain's legs compressed as he prepared then a snapping sound was let out, the ground cracking beneath him as he dashed at the knight. This was his chance. He aimed his blade towards the knights wrists. Just as he was about to reach it, he was flung backwards crashing into the wall.

Thorin watched this all happen. If Thrain is aiming for his wrists that must be his weak point. He retreated giving Thrain some time to recover.

After seeing Thrain was fine and recovering. He could already feel the exhaustion creeping up and its showing on Thrain as well. Thorin decided it was time, to give it his all or die trying.

He rushed in and engaged in combat with the knight, leading the battle into the most favourable position. Jeremy could sense what Thorin was trying to do, it would get him killed. Racing over as fast as he could to try to prevent it. The knights most recent attack was aimed at Thorin's leg.

It reached tearing open his skin, going through muscle reaching bone. Thorin tensed as hard as he could stopping the blade in its tracks. He clenched his hands around his blade as he sliced down at the wrist of the knight tearing through it.

In less than a second Thrain appeared. The look in his eyes was pure focus HE would not let Thorin's sacrifice be in vain. Every ounce of power he could muster gathered into his legs, the ground around him cracked like never before as he sent him self at the knight. The torrent of power ripping through his body as he transferred it all into his arms.

The blade made contact with the neck of the knight slicing straight through to his spinal cord, almost stopping. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Thrain pushed, every ounce of his being going into this single attack. An echoing crack was let out as the blade passed through it's bone.

He glanced back, the headless knight knelt. Not an inch of it moving. Thrain hobbled over to Thorin slowly he body barely keeping up. Reaching Thorin he looked down at his brother he bone in his leg shattered.

He looked into his brother eyes. Thorin only nodded.

They both clenched Thrain cut the rest of the leg separating the last part keeping his brother's leg whole together. Thorin only looked into the sky with a blank expression pretending that he didn't feel a thing.

Thrain blinked the world becoming blurry. NO. Thrain would not let his brother bleed out! He ripped his clothes and bandaged the amputated leg as tight as he could to stop the bleeding.

It sho..uld be... fi..n... n...w.....

The world around him slowly becoming darker.

Thorin watched as his brother fell unconscious next too him. He watched his leg as the bleeding slowly stopped. He raised himself, Jeremy rushing over to comfort him. This is going to be my new life but that won't stop me. Thorin made sure his brother was comfortable while he attempted to started a fire.

Thorin watched his brother as he slept he really couldn't have done it without him. Thorin thought back on the journey, entering the dungeon ending up in a castle from centuries ago, the cavern full of life and finally the boss of the dungeon it was an adventure of a lifetime. It was time to head back. He shook his brother, his eyes slowly opening. Thorin could see it in his eyes. There was a fear mixed with a deep relief seeing his brother not bled out. Thorin helped Thrain up, Thorin then throwing Thrains arm around him to keep himself up. Jeremy following beside them, they headed for the door.

The doors opened with ease, before them stood the village. Where it all started, water welled up from deep within. Tears rolled down their cheek as two silhouette came into view, their eyes locked and the water gushed even more it was their mother and father.
