Chapter 20 - Chapter 18: What’s his identity?

In the realm of another universe, he was known as Doctor Li Xuanyin —a healer not just of flesh but of shattered spirits. His hands had mended bones and hearts, his voice had quieted madness, and his presence had been a balm to the broken. But in this world, he bore a different crown.

Here, he reigned as President Li Xuanyin, the unfathomable sovereign of Jinghua Dynamics—a name that sent tremors through boardrooms and governments alike. Among the titans of industry, YJ Corporation stood proud in second place. But it was Jinghua Dynamics that ruled with divine authority, contributing a staggering 70% to the nation's economy, its grip so absolute that even the highest echelons of power dared not defy it.

Founded in 1924, Jinghua Dynamics had passed through the hands of three 'generations': Li Hedi, Li Min Gi, and now Li Xuanyin. But beneath this seamless lineage lay an impossible truth—a secret never whispered aloud. They were not three men, but one immortal soul. Li Xuanyin, the ageless god in a mortal's skin, had walked through centuries unnoticed, his 900-year life a maze of reincarnation, power, and silence. His face had never been captured, not even once. He was a ghost king in a world of steel and light.

Beside him walked Mei Linghua, a 700-year-old immortal who had known the weight of centuries. To the world, she was his closest confidante. But within her heart, she harbored an aching devotion, an unspoken yearning to become more than just a shadow in his legend. She had stepped into his eternal night 675 years ago, transforming his solitude into companionship. She alone knew the torment behind his stoic eyes.

And then, there was Yue Lusi.

A woman of fire and thorns, she lived unaware of the myths circling her. She knew nothing of Li Xuanyin's past, nor of Mei Linghua's quiet jealousy. All she knew was the world of YJ Corporation, her own battles, and the enigma that was Li Xuanyin —an enigma that would soon tear her world apart.

_____________

In the golden tower of YJ,Yue Lusi sat in her lavish office. Floor-to-ceiling windows bled sunlight across her mahogany desk. The skyline beyond glittered, indifferent to her turmoil.

"In this situation, only Jinghua Dynamics can help," Mira said, her voice calm but edged with urgency.

Yue Lusi scoffed, her fingers tightening around her pen. "Do you think they'd even look at us? We're second. They're not just first—they're untouchable. Even the government bends for them. And also the their president is mysterious."

Mira leaned forward, her eyes flickering with determination. "Still, let's try. Sometimes, legends are moved by something... unexpected."

And that unexpected spark was already catching fire.

Photos of Li Xuanyin and Yue Lusi's recent dinner exploded across the internet. Their chemistry—icy, electric, untamed—lit a thousand comment threads ablaze.

> "He's insanely hot. Who is he?!" "Looks like a villain straight out of a drama." "Those eyes... dangerous and divine." "Is he from the social elite? Royalty?"

YJ's PR team said nothing. Silence was its own weapon. And the public's obsession only grew.

Yue Lusi couldn't forget that night. The sharp glint in his eyes. The way he poured her wine like a ritual. But he never invited her home. That, she knew, was a wall not even time could scale.

Until today.

A sleek Rolls-Royce Phantom 2024 purred to a stop before her residence. A suited driver stepped out.

"Miss Yu, President Li has sent me to escort you."

"President Li?" Chu Chu blinked, wide-eyed.

"Yes, ma'am," the driver replied, bowing.

Thirty minutes later, they reached a fortress—a compound hidden from maps and satellites. Steel gates towered above them, lined with armed guards whose eyes were mirrors of discipline.

They passed the first, second, and third gates, each more intimidating than the last. The fourth gate demanded biometric scans. After a thorough body search, two elite bodyguards in black uniforms led them deeper into the sanctuary.

What awaited them was not a mansion—but a palace of the future. Dozens of swimming pools shimmered like sapphire veins. Hanging gardens spiraled skyward. There were 45 rooms, 30 living spaces, and a silent army of 200 bodyguards in constant training across the estate.

Fifty housemaids moved like clockwork under the command of Miss Guan, who descended the grand staircase with practiced grace.

"Mrs. Li," she said with a bow, her smile unreadable. "The President is waiting in the private wing."

"Mrs. Li?" Chu Chu whispered with a wicked grin.

"Shut up," Yue Lusi hissed, her face ablaze with color.

They stepped inside a private living room that looked more like a suite in Versailles—polished obsidian floors, soft classical music playing in the background, and sunlight spilling over velvet upholstery.

A young man in his twenties sat across from Li Xuanyin, playing a game on his phone, entirely at ease.

And then she saw him.

Li Xuanyin.

He rose.

And the universe shifted.

For the first time, his carefully constructed walls fractured. His ever-cold expression flickered—eyes widening, catching her in their depth like she was the first star he'd ever seen. A smile—subtle, rare, unguarded—emerged like dawn breaking over centuries of night.

In that instant, the air turned thick. Time curled around them, tightening.

She faltered. Her legs weakened, and she instinctively stepped back. When he extended his hand, she didn't take it.

He didn't wait.

Without a word, he stepped forward and lifted her into his arms. Not like a man helping a woman—but like a sovereign claiming his queen. As if the moment had already been written in ancient ink across the scrolls of fate.

She gasped, stunned.

"What are you—"

He silenced her with a whisper. "You refused my hand, so I chose another way."

The young man on the couch dropped his phone, mouth agape.

ChuChu squealed.

Li Xuanyin carried her to the velvet chaise like she was made of glass and moonlight. When he set her down, their eyes locked again.

And in his gaze, she saw something impossible—a storm of longing centuries deep.

She didn't know who he truly was and everything she tried, she goes back to square one.

But something inside her—a whisper from another life—told her this was not their first life.

Nor would it be their last.
