As I relaxed in the Butterfly Mansion, enjoying a brief moment of peace, the sound of confident, heavy footsteps echoed through the hallway. I glanced toward the entrance just in time to see Tengen Uzui stride in, his usual flamboyant presence impossible to ignore.
"Yo, Alex," Uzui greeted, his tone light, but I could sense a hint of urgency beneath it.
"Uzui," I acknowledged, leaning against a wooden pillar. "Didn't expect to see you here. What's up?"
Uzui crossed his arms, his expression serious. "I need your help with something. My wives—Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru—have been undercover in the Entertainment District, investigating reports of a demon. It was supposed to be a routine mission, but I haven't received any reports from them for a few days now. That's not normal."
I narrowed my eyes slightly. So, it was finally happening—the Entertainment District Arc. If Uzui was here, asking for help, that meant his wives had likely encountered Daki, one of the Upper Moons.
"That's troubling," I said. "You think they ran into trouble?"
Uzui's jaw tightened. "I don't know. My wives are highly skilled, but something's off. I don't like being left in the dark like this. I was planning on heading there myself, but given the circumstances, I figured having someone like you along wouldn't hurt."
I smirked. "Flattering, but I take it this means you're expecting a serious fight."
Uzui nodded. "It's possible. If there really is an Upper Moon in the district, things could get messy. And since you're ridiculously overpowered, I figured I might as well drag you along."
I chuckled. "Fair enough. I was planning to head there anyway. There's someone I want to meet."
Uzui raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Someone specific?"
I didn't answer directly, but in my mind, I was already thinking about Daki. A spoiled, arrogant, but undeniably powerful demon who thrived in the shadows of the Entertainment District. Though I did edit her backstory, I don't know how that would reflect her personality.
She wasn't exactly a threat to me, but she was still an Upper Moon, and meeting her in person would be interesting.
Just then, Shalltear, who had been standing nearby, finally spoke up. "If you're going, then I'm going too."
I turned to look at her. "Shalltear—"
"I won't take no for an answer, my Lord," she interrupted, crossing her arms and pouting slightly. "You left me behind when you fought Akaza, and I'm not letting that happen again. I want to see these so-called Upper Moons for myself."
Uzui whistled, amused. "You've got a feisty one here, Alex."
I sighed. "I don't doubt Shalltear's abilities, but are you sure you want to come? This is the kind of mission where we need to blend in."
Shalltear smirked. "Oh, don't worry about that. I can be discreet when I need to be."
I highly doubted that, but arguing with Shalltear when she was this determined was pointless.
Uzui clapped his hands together. "Well, if she's coming along, that just means we'll have even more firepower. I'll take whatever help I can get. We leave at sundown. Make sure you're ready."
I nodded. "Got it. This should be fun."

As the sun began to set, the Butterfly Mansion was bathed in a warm orange glow. Uzui had already left to make some preparations, leaving me with Shalltear, who was adjusting her outfit, making sure she looked "blended in," or at least her version of it.
I glanced at her choice of clothing—a modified version of a kimono with intricate patterns and just the right amount of elegance to pass off as someone from the Entertainment District. However, no matter what she wore, her aura of overwhelming confidence made it clear she wasn't just some ordinary person.
"You do realize we're supposed to be undercover, right?" I asked, amused.
Shalltear smirked. "Of course, my Lord. But standing out is just another way of blending in."
I sighed, shaking my head. "Just don't cause trouble before we even find the demon."
At that moment, Lupusregina walked over, arms crossed. "Are you sure you don't want me to come along, my lord?"
I shook my head. "This mission requires subtlety. You're better off staying here and keeping an eye on things."
Lupus pouted but nodded. "Fine, but you owe me one."
"Have a great trip, my lord." Yuki said.
With everything settled, I stepped outside, where Uzui was waiting. He had already changed into a more casual outfit, blending in with the style of the district. "Ready?" he asked.
I nodded. "Let's move."
With that, the three of us set off into the night, making our way toward the heart of the Entertainment District. As we walked, the lively sounds of the city grew louder—the chatter of people, the rhythmic sounds of shamisen music, and the enticing scent of street food filling the air.
I took a deep breath. The hunt was about to begin.
