The hall was quiet. When Wen Jiang was about to leave, she saw Xie Lingyan's wife standing in the corner.
She was holding a tray with two cups of tea on it, apparently intending to offer them to Wen Jiang and Xie Lingyan.
She must have heard everything from beginning to end.
Yet she stood there with downcast eyes, showing no expression even after hearing Wen Jiang threaten her maternal uncle.
It was as if all of this had nothing to do with her.
Wen Jiang had only seen her once before, but she was struck by the woman's lifeless demeanor. She simply asked, "Were you aware of this?"
Only then did the woman lift her head. She looked at Wen Jiang and slowly, like a puppet, shook her head.
Xie Lingyan never discussed his work with them.
She might have known her husband's dealings weren't entirely clean, but she never imagined he would dare to do something like this.
But at the same time, she wasn't surprised.
