RAVE'S POINT OF VIEW.
I am growing impatient by the minute.
I turn up to look at my captor.
-I still can't see her face or any of her features clearly-
"If I'm dead then how am I speaking to you?"
She glances down at me briefly, before throwing up her head, and bursting into a peal of laughter;
"You could just stay here with me Rave" she mutters gently.
-What is she on about?-
"If I've got a choice then I'd rather not"
I ball my fists.
She sighs heavily and proceeds to drop from her uplifted throne all the way to the ground with a thud.
"I know what you want Rave"
She closes up the gap between us;
"And if you give me your body... I'll help you achieve exactly just that" she stops right in front of me and glances down at me.
I furrow my eyebrows;
"Just who are you anyway?"
She cocks her head to the side.
"That's not important right now"
I take a deep breath;
"Why do you want me to stay with you?"
This question seems to throw her off balance, she fidgets around wordlessly.
"You're dead anyway, I'm doing nothing but doing you a favour... the injury you sustained was too fatal so..."
"What if I fight you for my freedom?" I gently interrupt.
She stares at me hard. It takes about a minute before she bursts into laughter again;
-What's so funny?-
"What I'm getting is that you can't take over my body except with agreement from me to stay here with you..." I glance at her circumspectly;
-I can't tell what her expression is-
"And if I'm truly dead then there's no way this stupid dialogue would still be going on, you could have just taken my body already"
She muses to herself.
"I'm not much of a conversation kind of person, usually I prefer action as a way of setting things...that is if you're not scared" I smirk, she scoffs in guile;
"Fine... let's have ourselves a little duel, but if I win then you'll agree to stay here with me..."
"And if I win, you'll let me return back alive and unscathed" I interrupt impatiently.
She nods at me.
My heartbeat quickens as the prospects of battle dawn on me.
-Her aura is much heavier than any creature I've ever come across-
I take a position of onslaught;
She giggles in amusement;
"Very well then..."
RAVE'S POINT OF VIEW END.
NETYISHA'S POINT OF VIEW.
-WHAT-THE-HELL-IS-MAYTER-DOING-HERE?-
Her expression is as though she's seen a ghost.
My palms become clammy with sweat and I turn to Mr Hood questioningly.
He continues reading all so nonchalantly as if neither of us is present.
"Mr Hooded One, s..since you're occupied, I c.. could come later"
Mayter stammers as she makes to dash out the door-the door slams shut right in her face;
Mr Hood finally looks up from his book;
"Why don't you take a seat Mayter? Since you and Netyisha have taken out from your precious time to visit me, I can't definitely turn any of you out"
He stands up and moves to one of his shelves;
"After all, the more, the merrier, don't you agree?" he adds with a light chuckle.
I turn to Mayter suspiciously as she takes a seat beside me.
-How personally does she know Mr Hood to visit him?-
"Rev Mayter..." I call gently.
She flinches in response.
-I don't really know what's going on yet, but I'd like to relish in her present stiffness contrary to her usual affability-
"I never thought you'd be the sort to visit Mr Hood"
Her face turns taut;
"What's that meant to imply Rev Netyisha?; Mr Hood isn't some private commodity to be enjoyed by only a few I suppose" she prevaricates quietly.
-She has apparently eased up and I perceive that irritable audacity in her quick words-
"No Rev Mayter, I suppose not"
-There is silence-
The tension is smothering.
Mr Hood hums joyously to himself as he busies himself at his shelf.
-I have so many questions to ask him right now-
I turn to Mayter, she feigns absolute attention to filing her nails;
- I know for a fact that she's stolen a few side glances at me-
Speaking about questions;
"Hey Rev Mayter..."
She turns her eyes upon me.
"You deal a lot with tweaking Weather elements to your advantage don't you?" my voice is low and incisive.
She shrugs;
"I am Weather core after all"
I nod acknowledgingly;
"You know, I've always been confused how Weather cores work" I pause to let my words sink in.
"... could you perhaps utilise someone's body to spy on someone else, and maybe make them disappear into vapour afterwards?".
Her expression turns distraught for a second, but she does an excellent job of almost instantly concealing her countenance.
"Wouldn't Rev Water be more disposed to educate you on this?" she asserts in all intrepid.
My jaws clench.
"Oh...but I'm asking you Rev Mayter"
She laughs derisively;
"What an absurd question to ask Rev Netyisha!"
-There's no way this fatuos creature is trying to evade this further-;
"Well I'll just have you know that..."
-CLAP: CLAP: CLAP-
We both turn to Mr Hood who obliviously claps to an unheard rhythm.
I watch as Mr Hood hums and claps sporadically.
-Just what is he doing?-
I take a deep breath.
-It's best I calm down for now-
I regard Mr Hood who continues in his strange rendezvous;
-Perhaps those sudden claps were his way of telling me to pipe down-
I arise;
"I'll leave for now Mr Hood, thank you for having me"
Mr Hood nods;
"And thank you for coming Rev Netyisha"
I walk out the door in quick strides;
Thoughts ram my brain in every possible ramification;
-What if The Hooded One is conniving with Mayter to assault me; what if the Hooded One has been lying to me all this while-
WAIT...
-Why do I put so much trust into some Mage I barely even know-
I shudder;
-How could I have forgotten the teachings of our Great Divinity; Lady Senaya on how distrustful all Mages are?-
An untraceable ache hits my body.
I stop to rest under a tree.
-Does that mean that everything we conversed concerning Dark cores was a sham too?-
I feel hot, like I'm gradually catching fire.
-Everything I confided in him was in vain too?-
The fire slowly grows until it spills out into reality.
-He's assisting a threat to my well-being despite everything?-
I try to calm myself down.
Every slight incitement I face leads to something like this: but this time;
-I'm actually frightened my flames are going to go out of control-
Where is that damn Asphyxiator when I need it.
-This time, I feel the heat...the heat of my own flames-
I can't figure something out and that makes me even more ticked.
-Why the hell am I so angry in the first place?-
"Rev Netyisha?"
A voice snaps me out of it.
As a small figure approaches me, my numbed senses come alive.
-Reverred Hostess Misty?-
She comes toward me quickly, an agog expression dressing her face.
"Are you alright Rev Netyisha?" She asks in concern.
I look down;
"Never better..." I mutter with a tight lipped smile.
She tilts her head and regards me curiosly;
"Rev Netyisha, if I hadn't transmutated your fire quick enough, you might have burnt the whole tree down" she gestures at the tree.
-True enough, the surface of the bark is now ashy-
"Thank you Misty" I say earnestly.
Misty nods; then she grabs my hand gently and pulls me along;
"Now come, let's go search for who angered you"
NETYISHA'S POINT OF VIEW END.
