Mrs. Yao took Grandma Shen and Shen Mao'an's second brother to the place where they would be staying. It was Shen Mao'an's second brother's first time visiting Beijing, and he couldn't get enough of the views.
"This place is nice," Shen Mao'an's second brother said.
Skyscrapers, wide roads, foreigners encountered along the way—it all felt much stronger than the small county town near them.
"The wind is strong now. It snowed a bit last night, otherwise, when the fog rolls in, even foreigners wouldn't dare come," Mrs. Yao laughed, "Your countryside is much better, with clean air and long-lived people. If it weren't for my son's and husband's work units being in Beijing, and their inability to get away, we would've planned to move the whole family to the countryside. Less troubles that way."
