After nearly an hour of walking past gift shops, balloon stalls, and a parade rehearsal that had Hori spinning in circles to film everything on her phone, she suddenly stopped in front of a café with a striped awning and outdoor seating.
"Here!" she announced, spinning back toward them with the energy of someone who hadn't been up since dawn.
"We're eating before we ride anything. I'm not risking my blood sugar dropping mid-loop."
Komi, slipping her mini fan out of her bag, sighed at her daughter's words.
"You're not six anymore, Hori."
"Exactly," Hori said, already pulling open the door. "That's why I know better."
