Chapter 12 - wordless magic

After I learned that I couldn't use magic, I asked Slphia to teach me magic, and she gave me a magic book with hundreds of spells in it.

According to Slphia, there are two conditions for using magic. The first is to memorize the magic words the spell requires, and the second is to imagine. The more powerful a person's imagination, the more powerful the magic they use.

In my previous life, I had watched a lot of fantasy movies and anime, and I had also read a lot of books. For me, imagining was very simple. Even if I didn't look like it, as someone who had been through middle school and high school, I knew how fire and water came to exist.

And that was exactly where the problem started. As I read the magic words, I closed my eyes and imagined hydrogen reaching its ignition temperature and then coming into contact with oxygen. When I opened my eyes again, there was a ball of fire floating in front of my hand, even though I hadn't even read halfway through the words of the low-level magic, fireball.

But of course, because I got scared at that moment, the fire instantly caused a small explosion and burned my hand slightly.

I could use magic. According to what Slphia had said, I shouldn't have been able to use magic without receiving the church's blessing, but I could. Maybe the system had organized my mana veins while increasing my magic affinity, or maybe I had been born with mana veins that were already in perfect shape.

This time I started reading the magic words without closing my eyes, and at the same time I imagined the same thing as before. As a small flame began to float in front of my hand, I could hardly keep myself from screaming with excitement.

The moment the small flame appeared, I kept reading the magic words. After a while, the magic words ended, but the flame floating in front of my hand did not disperse. I could feel the shape of the flame as clearly as if I were holding it in my hand, and I could shape it however I wanted.

As I kept reciting the incantation, I could feel an energy in my body slowly leaving it and merging with the fireball. When a small theory formed in my mind, I released the magic. It hit the trunk of a tree some distance away from me and created a small explosion.

I started casting the same spell again, but this time, as I used it, I imagined my mana moving, and I didn't recite any magic words.

I screamed with joy as I looked at the ball of flame floating in front of my hand. I couldn't even suppress my own excitement anymore. Even Slphia recited the magic words when she used magic, but I had already made a fireball without reciting any magic words in just a few attempts.

After celebrating my own ability for a few minutes, I started using the other spells in the magic book with a strange excitement in my heart.

I first used a water ball, which was the same level as the fireball, and after the fifth try, I managed to abandon the magic words. I learned a few more spells until I lost my excitement.

After learning around ten low-level elemental magics, there were no elemental magics left in the book. When I looked at the rest of the spells, I realized they were all strange things.

After hesitantly muttering the words of a spell called flower field, the snow under the tree in the direction of my outstretched hand split open, revealing small white flowers.

I read the names of the spells in the book and checked whether there were any interesting ones. After a while, I managed to find the kind of magic I'd been looking for, a magic for protection from the cold. - heat shield -

"Kami ni kansha shimasu, hi no megami sorona wa, kono samui hibi ni watashitachi o hitori ni shimasendeshita. Mori, atatame, katachi o totonoe, yawarakaku shi, samu-sa to tatakai, watashi o kakomi, watashi o mamotte kureru hi

Heat shield!!!"

This time, the mana in my body didn't leave through my hand, but left my body from everywhere at the same time, creating an orange shield around me. As the snow inside the shield slowly melted, I felt like I was under the summer sun.

Even after I took off the thick jacket I was wearing, it still felt extremely hot inside the shield. I closed my eyes and focused on the mana flowing from my body into the shield, and I wanted to reduce the amount a little, but before I could reduce it, I witnessed the mana in my body being completely depleted.

When the heat shield broke, the cold air began to attack my sweaty body mercilessly. I prayed to the goddesses of this world that the abilities the system had given me wouldn't work with mana, and I activated my storage space ability.

The snowy world around me suddenly vanished, and I was greeted by a landscape of endless flat land stretching out into infinity.

After tossing my magic book into a random corner, I picked up the towel lying on the ground a little distance away from me and started wiping the sweat off my body.

coughing soundsniffling sound

"Ahhhh, fuck. I'm already sick. I have to go to my master before I go home. After all, I left the house telling my mom I was going to my master's. She might get suspicious if I come back sick."

[Congratulations on successfully completing the repeating mission ( personal hygiene )

Mission series completion reward : six-star swordsmanship technique]

Before I could read the text on the system screen, a book appeared in the air, and I reflexively caught it.

After reading the system screen, I tilted my head and read the inscription on the swordsmanship book in my hands.

THE INVISIBLE SWORDSMANSHIP OF THE SWORD EMPEROR -

After flipping through the book with the cool name a few times, I threw it behind me and left my storage area. Who would want to dedicate their life to swordsmanship when they could be a magician who can cast cool spells? Besides, I still have a main mission to do.
