Chapter 124 - Chapter 124

(Song of the day: Tiny Dancer by Elton John)

So, I was thinking about it, about the many ways that I can possibly do to Velgrynd what Albion did to himself. I thought I could use some magic to manipulate her senses or place her under an illusion, but then I remembered something. Isn't she already being manipulated?

Yeah, she's supposed to be being manipulated by that stupid angel. Michael, was it? Yeah, I think it was. The one with daddy and abandonment issues. Took over Rudra's body because he wanted to be with Veldanava instead of Rudra, or something like that.

That sounds close enough for me. The important part is that she is being manipulated by that skill, or Manas, to be more accurate. So, how do I remove that? I could just destroy Michael. It shouldn't be too hard, just release some seals on Rhongomyniad and whatnot.

Overkill? No such thing.

But that's the violent way, and I don't say that in a way where I'm against being violent. Just look at what's happening on the battleground right now. Anyway, I could also sever that connection. Maybe I could yank away Velgrynd to another dimension. That's another option that I can also do. Or just cut off the influence of Michael on her.

Shuna can do that, but there might be trouble since it's a Manas, and not just a regular Ultimate Skill. But maybe I could brute-force it by supplying her with practically infinite mana, but do I want to put her in danger like that?

Well, it's not like she can't fight, but still.

Okay, I know what to do. I'll be like Morgan and bring down Rhongomyniad from the sky as my first attack, and then I'll figure it out from there, because that's a brutal first attack.

Could it go past the barrier? Yeah, it should. "Impenetrable," "unbreakable," whatever other way you want to describe it. Point is, I do not care. Try defending against Rhongomyniad with six seals unleashed, maybe even an Excalibur. It's not happening. There are levels to this.

I'm a bit excited now. It's been a while since I've unleashed an Excalibur or a Rhongomyniad. I feel pumped now. The question is, which do I use? Actually, why not both? It's total war, so who cares? Not like I'm committing any war crimes or anything.

Anyway, time to start preparing to shoot down some airships. This should be fun.

I thought they would've already been here, but it seems they were slowed down much more than I thought. Makes sense when they face weapons they probably haven't faced before. I really wonder what the exact number of casualties is for them. I know we haven't lost one, but they've probably lost hundreds of thousands in an absolute best-case conservative estimate. If I had to be liberal and with bias, I'd probably put it at a few tens of millions. A moderate estimate, maybe, would be a few million.

We're putting up Chinese war casualty numbers with this, even if the numbers might be a little inflated or counted badly.

Oh, look, I can see them coming into view. From my gunship, I could see tanks and other soldiers going through the forest, and the airships above moving.

Oh yeah, this was close enough to shoot them down, but as I said, I want the debris to rain on the troops below.

"Hey, do you see that up there? What is it that? It doesn't look like on of ours."

"I don't know. It doesn't look like any of our airships."

"This can't be good."

"Nothing is good. We're already running low on supplies somehow. Every time I ask why, I just get told off. They're not even trying to hide that they're hiding something."

"I hope it doesn't get worse. Whatever that white smoke was earlier, and that fire, it makes me not want to fight anymore."

"Don't let them hear you say that. You can already see how little they care about us by forcing us through that fire. I saw some people bring out charred corpses of tank crews, just to replace them because the tank still worked."

Two soldiers were talking to each other as they continued marching through the forest. The forest was getting less and less dense as they moved along to the point that they could see the sky more clearly. They could see their airships more clearly, but they could see more clearly in front of them.

And from a distance, they could see another ship on the other side. The fact that they could see it from here must have meant that it was a big ship. They could make out what were cannons.

"Are we encountering enemy forces?"

"I think we might be."

"Like, monsters?"

"Yeah."

They didn't know how to feel. They haven't seen a single enemy, but they've already suffered immense and uncountable casualties. And that's only from their small section. They only knew what they knew in their section of the invasion. Sometimes they wondered what it looked like from above the airships.

"Just a bit more and we'll be out of here. There'll finally be open fields."

"I don't know if that's good. We went through all this in the forest; what could be waiting for us in an open field?"

They, along with their entire section, continued forward. Fortunately, or unfortunately, for them, they were among the first to exit the forest. At first, everything was going well. More and more of them finally got out of the forest.

They could see the mysterious airship on the other side become clearer and bigger, but they also started seeing something else. It was like a long white line above the horizon that seemed to stretch across its entirety.

"What is that?"

"I don't know; it's too far away for any detail."

Since the airship was more detailed, they focused on that.

"Something doesn't feel right."

As they saw the airship become clearer, they saw several white flashes from it, as if it were sunlight reflecting off water.

"What is that?"

That question was asked a few seconds later when they heard a loud boom and a streak of light across the sky. There was a large explosion above them.

All the soldiers looked up to see one of their airships blown up in a plume of fire and smoke. Small debris fell first, on fire and with smoke trails behind them.

But what followed was worse. The large pieces of the ship fell down, crushing anything and anyone in its way. Burnt, charred, and dismembered corpses fell from the sky, falling on top of soldiers and in front of others.

This scene happened all across the frontline. Airships were blown up one after another, causing chaos in the air and on the ground. What they considered one of their symbols of their military and technological might was being destroyed with ease, becoming nothing more than scrap before they could even be used for anything meaningful.

Now that's a good firework show.

'Gabiru, are you ready?'

'Yes, Lady Pendragon! At your orders, we will begin!'

'Good. You can start when the biggest airship is left alone.'

I could feel the rumble as the guns kept firing. Rhongymyniad is so awesome. Those airships were getting blown up in a single shot. Well, it's powered by Rhongomyniad, so it should get blown up in one shot.

They're going to be left without any kind of air cover; they'll be sitting ducks.

And that's when they'll finally come face-to-face with an enemy they can see.

Just need to see what Michael and friends do.
