Chapter 34 - To The Federation

The interior of the Federation aerial transport hummed quietly as Ethan and Dianna sat in reflective silence. Their minds were full of trepidation about the future, their hearts weighed down by recent events. The sleek craft—its design a blend of advanced mana engineering and traditional aesthetics—had carried them high above the sprawling lights of a futuristic metropolis, the heart of Federation power. As the vehicle descended onto the vast plaza of the Federation Agency in Kigali Spectrum, every second in the silent journey had felt interminable. For Ethan, the ride was laden with anxious anticipation—a balancing act between the burden of forbidden knowledge and the desperate hope that they might begin to piece their lives together again.

Sitting beside him, Dianna pressed her face against the wide glass window. She watched silently as the city revealed itself slowly in a cascade of neon ochres and deep blues. The dazzling skyline was punctuated by aerial vehicles and towering, holographically adorned structures. The view stirred feelings of both wonder and uncertainty. Each pulse of the city's vibrant energy was a reminder that everywhere change had its price. In her eyes, however, glimmered a resolute determination and longing for hope in an opaque future.

When the transport finally touched down, uniformed Federation Agents immediately secured the area. At the forefront strode Musa, a man whose commanding presence was undeniable among both his peers and lower-ranked personnel. His every stride was a quiet declaration of authority, acknowledged by respectful bows and nods from fellow agents. Dianna couldn't help but whisper in awe, "You truly command respect, Musa."

He merely smiled and downplayed the remark. "Hardly worth the fuss," he said, before turning his attention back to Ethan. Musa then led them into the bustling agency corridor. The atmosphere was one of disciplined efficiency—agents moved briskly, and the corridors buzzed with both arcane energy and high-tech advancements.

They soon arrived at a large circular platform marked with intricate luminescent runes. As Ethan, Dianna, and Musa stepped onto the platform, a holographic circle sprang to life around them. It began with a gentle green glow during the initial scanning phase, then transitioned to a deep, steady blue as the system verified their identities. Musa announced calmly, "Level 8, Section D." In response, strands of light enveloped them, sweeping them away in a flash through the portal mechanism.

In an instant, they reappeared in a vast, high-ceilinged hall filled with the soft hum of advanced energy arrays and bustling activity. The space was lined with high-resolution holographic displays that projected Federation insignia and arcane symbols onto the polished floor. At the far end stood an elegant elf—Thalion, as some knew him—whose regal bearing radiated both ancient wisdom and cutting-edge sophistication.

"Welcome," the elf greeted warmly, his voice carrying effortlessly across the hall. "I see our new cadets have arrived."

Musa stepped forward and interjected in a calm tone, "These cadets come highly recommended by a high-ranking official—ranked as Supreme Agents. Their potential speaks volumes, and we're here to ensure they begin the right path."

Thalion's eyes twinkled with amusement as he absorbed the news. "Ten cadets, you say? Remarkable."

Musa nodded, then led the conversation onward. "My part here is done," he stated and moved back to the teleportation platform. "Now, please stand by for your next transport," he called out as he activated the system once more with a clear command: "Level 4, Section A6!"

In a stream of brilliant light, the trio were teleported and reappeared in a new corridor—a transition zone designed for the rigorous training of future Federation talent. Here Thalion reintroduced himself. "I am Thalion, and I will be your guide. Follow me, if you please."

As they made their way further along a section of elevated flooring that slowly rose and hovered, Ethan couldn't help but ask, half in jest, "Why do we follow when we're just riding this thing?"

Thalion grinned, his tone lightening the tension. "Honestly, sometimes even I'm not entirely sure—but trust that the ride is worth the journey," he replied.

Once they gathered in a grand, well-lit training hall, Thalion began his introduction. "Welcome to Atlas Academy, where African Federation cadets are trained to become elite. Let me explain our ranking system:

For cadets, we have eight distinct levels. Level 1 represents the highest echelon of raw potential and leadership, while Level 8 is reserved for the newest recruits just beginning their rigorous journey. For Federation agents, the ranking extends to ten levels, defined by advanced achievements and command responsibilities. Today, as you both join this esteemed institution, your inclusion has been endorsed by a high-ranking official—one whose authority surpasses even that of a General, ensuring you receive privileges and specialized training far beyond that of ordinary cadets. This means you have shown exceptional promise, and we expect great things from you."

Thalion paused, letting his words sink in as he surveyed Ethan and Dianna's faces—each a mix of apprehension and quiet resolve. "You are stepping into a world that will challenge you mentally, physically, and magically. But remember, today is your first day—a new beginning. Embrace the challenge, and prove to yourself that you are truly exceptional."

With that, the grand hall—filled with rows of cadets in various states of preparedness—seemed to come alive with hushed excitement and the promise of transformation.

Ethan, Dianna, and the other new recruits listened intently as Thalion began a tour of the facility, guiding them through corridors lined with state-of-the-art training modules and ancient, rune-inscribed walls that bore witness to Federation history. The solemnity and grandeur of Atlas Academy stood as a beacon for the future—one where their trials today would be the stepping stones to mastery tomorrow.
