Chapter 418: Glacia vs. Landorus (Part 1)
"Uh, well—Glacia of the Elite Four would like to battle you, Landorus. Do you accept?"Rex glanced at Glacia, then got straight to the point.
"So that's what this is about. Sure, I accept."
Landorus noticed the fire in Glacia's eyes and was immediately intrigued. Though usually mild-mannered, that didn't mean it lacked a love for battle—especially when facing an opponent of Glacia's rank. A member of the Elite Four was no ordinary trainer.
"Big bro, make sure to teach that arrogant human a lesson!""Yeah, show them the true strength of the Forces of Nature! Don't let them look down on us!"
Tornadus and Thundurus jeered from the sidelines. Though they pretended to be hyping up Landorus, their eyes remained locked on Rex and Diancie with a simmering grudge.
Clearly, they still hadn't gotten over their earlier defeat. In their minds, it had only happened because they'd wasted too much energy fighting each other—giving those "lucky little pests" the perfect opportunity.
To avoid collateral damage to Rex Farm, the battle was relocated to the shores of Jade Moon Lake. The area was uninhabited and seldom visited—perfect for an unrestricted battle between powerhouses.
Still, there were plenty of spectators. Rex had gathered all of his Pokémon to watch. It wasn't every day one could witness a battle at this level up close.
He hoped the fight would shatter any complacency in his team and remind them that true strength was still far away. They had to keep pushing themselves.
For safety, Rex had Shaymin and Diancie remain alert throughout the match. As for Tornadus and Thundurus… well, expecting them to behave was already a miracle in itself.
Under everyone's watchful gaze, Glacia sent out her chosen partner: Glalie.
This round, black Pokémon had a floating, spherical body encased in armor-like ice with jagged horns protruding from either side. Its face was marked by sharp blue eyes and a chilling, toothy grin.
When Glalie Mega Evolves, its entire head splits open into a massive gaping maw, with excess energy leaking from its jaws, forming snowstorms wherever it goes. Two icicle-like horns gleam on either side of its head, and its original horns emit an eerie blue glow.
Legend says Glalie was born from icy mountains, its body formed from frozen rock. It can freeze the moisture in the air, forming armor harder than steel, impervious even to fire.
It exhales freezing breath that instantly immobilizes its prey—then crunches them down like ice cubes. Glalie is especially fond of frozen Pokémon like Vanillite.
In its Mega Evolved form, its overflowing energy shatters its own jaw. It constantly spews out blizzards, and though it can still freeze prey, it becomes unable to chew—making it agitated and volatile.
As soon as Glacia's Glalie appeared, the temperature dropped sharply. Even Rex could feel the heat vanish in an instant.
With each breath Glalie took, waves of cold air billowed outward, plunging the battlefield into deep chill.
This wasn't something just any Glalie could do. The ability to influence the weather so swiftly meant this Glalie was exceptionally powerful.
Rex also noticed a glowing Mega Stone embedded in one of Glalie's horns—clear evidence of its Mega Evolution potential.
"Glalie, use Hail!"
At Glacia's command, snow began falling from the sky. In moments, the grassy shoreline had been blanketed in white.
Landorus, still in Therian Forme, didn't strike immediately. Instead, he curiously observed the snowflakes swirling in the sky—clearly not taking his opponent seriously.
"Glalie, Blizzard!"
Unbothered by Landorus's lack of urgency, Glacia calmly issued her next command.
With the snowstorm boosting its power, Glalie let out a terrifying howl. A vortex of ice and snow erupted from its jaws, instantly freezing the air and forming razor-sharp crystalline snowflakes far colder than ordinary ice.
Wherever the blizzard swept, it left behind glistening frost—sealing everything in its path under thick layers of ice.
Landorus could no longer ignore the oncoming storm. In a flash, sand and earth rose around him, forming a dense barrier of stone and dust in midair.
CRACK!
The blizzard struck the wall and immediately froze its outer layer into a thick sheet of ice. But the attack was halted. Landorus remained untouched.
Of course, Glacia hadn't expected to land a blow just yet. Her goal was to turn the battlefield into an icy domain—where her Glalie would hold the advantage.
This was her signature tactic: no matter the original terrain, she always transformed it into a frozen hellscape.
"Yuli, put this on."
Rex noticed Yuli shivering beside him and quickly pulled a coat from his bag, draping it over her shoulders.
"Thanks..."She blushed as she tugged the coat tighter.
Rex, thanks to his rigorous physical training, didn't feel the cold nearly as much. He was completely fine without it.
With the chill addressed, they both turned their attention back to the match.
Glalie unleashed a barrage of icy moves—Freeze-Dry, Powder Snow, Icy Wind, Ice Shard—some aimed at attacking, others intercepting Landorus's strikes.
Each blast lowered the temperature further. Even when Landorus dispersed them, the residual energy merged with the hail, gradually forming a localized, bone-chilling blizzard domain.
The real fight was just getting started.
