Lesley smiled at the latest updates to his status, his joy was bubbling like a volcano.

His Spiritual cultivation had gone to the next level!

This opened so many things he'd wanted, but couldn't. Which was mainly to talk to Lych and Liv, which he really wanted to do. His Main law and minor law kept staring him in the face and he didn't have a good clue about them. Actually , to be utterly truthful, he had no clue.

Phix had called Lych 'Reanimation' and Liv 'Reincarnation', and they'd said that was their Main laws, and as sons of Death, that had to mean something. Asking the Bloodline interface would not do, because he it kept on giving a description of the laws but no deep information.

So, he had to talk to Lych and Liv if he wanted answers.

Lesley sat on the old carpet, a red raggedy thing unfit for a home, the softness was a forgotten memory. Yet, he didn't care about comfort, as he closed his eyes to reach the two brothers.A circular green ring appeared around Lesley's body, runic symbols were etched into it, but it quickly faded away, like a forgotten echo.

...

Lesley reopened his eyes in his Soul space, with its grey sea of Aether. He wasn't standing on a grey black sea like before, instead he stood on a circular grey stoned courtyard. The stones looked smooth, and old, their age possibly incomprehensible to a human. Two white statues stood within the courtyard, one was of Lych and the other was of Liv. They stood on pedestals, two feet above the floor. They posed with their hands raised, a skull in Lych's hands and a metal disk in Liv's hand.

The courtyard had three walls, Liv stood at the West wall and Lych stood before the East wall, both of them facing outside, at the Aether Sea. The courtyard seemed to hover over the grey sea, and in the centre of the courtyard was a green sphere, cracked and floating three feet above the ground.

Lesley's Aether Core.

"Wow, it's all so different." Lesley walked a few steps, they somehow echoed in the courtyard,"Lych! Liv!"

"Who dares call me?" A thunderous voice blasted from Lych's statue, as his eyes glowed green." Have you no respect mortal boy?"

"..." Lesley looked at the the statue for a moment," What the fuck!? When do you get off to yelling at me!"

Lesley stomped his foot, his wrath releasing a blast of fiery green energy that shook both statues and shocked himself.

"Woah!"

"Your Soul self is strong enough to even make us shake." Lych's statue glowed a bright green flash and turned into his physical form as he floated down to the ground,"Becoming the Primordial Heir has benefitted you greatly."

"Lych," Lesley looked at Liv's statue,"Why is Liv quiet?"

"My brother is Sealed, along with his power and law abilities." Lych looked at the statue and yawned," There is hardly reason you would use or need his power."

"What do you mean?" Lesley asked him.

"The laws in the plane are too weak, maybe when the plane ascends you will be able to access it." Lych looked around at the grey sea and waved his hand.

The world flipped on its side as the courtyard flipped upside down and appeared in a thick black forest. A veil of fog covered the forest, thin enough to see through but thick enough to be noticeable. The fog stopped short of entering the courtyard, as if the courtyard and the forest were not in the same place even though they appeared to be. Lesley looked around, and saw twelve colossal towers in the distance, each one different distances from each other. Some towers were closer and others were further away, but Lesley could see each of them in detail if he focused hard enough. From the doors at their base, to the stones that made them, it was crystal clear.

"Here we go, this should do." Lych talked," I prefer my side in your Soul space, the Aether here is in mist form, but still verile."

"Wait up, this is going too fast." Lesley felt like he needed an explanation," Where did this courtyard come from? And why are you two statues? Also wha-"

"One question, at a time." Lych cut him off,"This courtyard, is a manifestation of The Primordial Bloodline you inherited."

"How? Why is it a courtyard? I thought it would be a bird, i mean, it's the Primordial Phoenix Bloodline."

Lych raised his finger and pointed at the walls of the courtyard, and Lesley noticed a giant phoenix carving on the North wall, faint enough to not be seen unless you paid attention. It was a beautiful image, engraved in stone with a vibrant green pigment, faded but lovely and majestic.

"And we are not statues, rather we have assimilated into the Primordial Bloodline. " Lych's eyes glowed green and behind him, a carving of a five headed raven, like the Phoenix, glowed on his wall,"Our laws will become more potent and pure, reaching heights beyond the Origins. It will benefit you greatly."

"About that, why did you engrave your law into my soul? I didn't agree to becoming a necromancer." Lesley replied curtly.

"Who said anything about becoming a necromancer? " Lych tilted his head," Do you even know what a necromancer is?"

"A sorcerer who raises undead." Lesley gave a hesitated reply and saw Lych scowl.

"Necromancy is a discipline of magic done by undead practitioners who seek to grow stronger by amassing undead minions throw Soul cultivation of Death laws. " Lych narrowed his eyes," Do you think my power is just a way of flimsy necromancy?"

"I don't know, I'm new to this stuff." Lesley sighed in exasperation," I don't know that much stuff, right now I'm just... winging it "

"Stop winging it, or you'll die before you amount to anything useful." Lych's voice was cold," Reanimation is the law of the living dead, it's pillars of Undeath, Null Life, Reverse Life, Pure Death and...The Returned, are superior to the pillars of Death and Life. Necromancy is but a small drop in the depths of Reanimation, from Undeath."

"So...I'm not becoming a necromancer?" Lesley asked and Lych sighed softly.

"You are not a mage, you have no Grimoire, so no, you will not. Unless you choose to follow that path, but it will be hard to in your weak plane. Your Soul cultivation makes becoming a mage viable, but I don't approve that thought processing" Lych opened his hand and clenched it," You are a cultivator, so your body will surpass any mage. I engraved my law because you have a deep affinity with my law of Reanimation, more than my brother's law. And because I wanted to be your Master."

"Master?" Lesley narrowed his eyes," I am not sure how I feel about that."

"Fine, then how about Teacher?" Lych inclined his head," I am just going to guide you through the trials and challenges you will face, integrating with the law."

"Okay, but why? Why me? Honestly, I have a question, why are you and Liv here to begin with? Have you always been here? "

"I'll answer your question if you prove you're good enough to be answered." Lych replied.

"Hey, I wan-"

"Boy!" Lych's eyes grew dark," I see what you do, your eyes are mine as well. You are excited of the power, the abilities and your new strength, but do not overestimate yourself. You are less than the bottom of trash in this realm, barely considerable as a Power. This, is no game, not to any of us."

"I didn't say I thought it was, i-"

"You marked that zombie as your Familiar? You go around, playing with the rags of Undeath, barely above skeletons." Lych sighed," When we aligned with you, and the Primordial, we severed any chance of a grace with our Mothers or the Origins. You can not hope to understand the sacrifice we made, but please...you must try to uphold yourself to your goal above all else."

Lesley remained quiet, and looked at the floor with a thoughtful expression. Had he known what Liv and Lych gave up? No, he did not. The decision they made was significant, and he had to take it seriously. He'd been reckless in his fights with the zombies, feeling invincible and powerful. The truth was, he was letting the power get to his head. He had to reign in his excitement, and focus objectively on getting stronger.

"Okay, I got you." Lesley replied solemnly and Lych nodded his head, eyes turning to the forest around them.

"The Wilderness of The Undeparted," Lych looked at Lesley," It is here you can learn about the law of Reanimation's first pillar, Undeath. But, don't attempt the tower yet, it is beyond you as of yet."

"So, you're still helping me?" Lesley raised a brow and Lych gave him a cold look.

"I have never been your enemy," Lych crossed his arms," Only one being has been the source of my animosity and that is Grimaire. It is for this reason I allied with you, Primordial Heir, because I felt your animosity for her aswell."

"So you're here because you have mother issues?"

"My mothers disdain my law, both of them. Unlike my brother, I never gained their affection and I long grew cold to them." Lych walked up to Lesley and stared him hard in the eyes," I will offer you every step, every tool and skill I can. Every aspect of power to possess, you will own it, you will be the Epitome of Reanimation."

"I...will. Thanks, I guess." Lesley gave a friendly smile that Lych gave a calm apathetic look," What should I do?"

"First you must learn how to summon an undead Creature or Spirit." Lych pointed to the forest," But in order to summon one, you must first conquer one. In the forest there are undead variants, you must fight them, dominate them . Stay in the first ring, that is where creatures near your level reside, and them you should hunt."

"But, I don't have a weapon, to hunt anything." Lesley looked at himself, noticing his appearance for once. Lesley wore a black high collar shirt, leather trousers and a green cloak. He looked like a druid or mythical noble. Well, maybe like a nomadic wanderer with a flare for green and leather.

"Ah, yes, your fondness for knives and hammers." Lych raised his hand and a green fire ball appeared," This should be a skill you had from the beginning if it wasn't for your weak cultivation. Take it in your hands, and weild it in whatever form you like."

Lesley hesitated and slowly raised his hand, reaching into the green fire. His eyes shimmered as the fire flowed to the core of his being and a thin flaming ring appeared around the green sphere behind them.

"Choose it's form, but be careful , for once you pick a form, it will forever stay that form." Lych waited for Lesley to choose a weapon for the flame to become.

Lesley nodded his head as he closed his eyes and imagined what he wanted the flame to become. Slowly the flaming ring on his Aether core quivered and slithered to his open hand, taking the form of a-

"A whip?"

In Lesley's hands was an intricate greenish whip, with a black handle. The whip was made of tiny, metal links like a chain, with a sharp dagger like tip.

"You are aware that this decision is final and you can't remake it? Ever?"

"Yeah, I heard you the first time." Lesley gave a small grim as he held his whip," i may like daggers but, I am more of a long range attacker. Getting too close puts me at too much of a risk, I don't want to be a zombie."

"Very well, your choice is your own." Lych placed a hand on Lesley's shoulder," You won't become an undead here, because you're only here as a soul, but...necrotic energy can turn you into a wraith. Your soul will rip your body apart if you get consumed here... remember that."

Lych placed his hand away and turned back into a statue besides his brother.

"Seriously? He says that and...fuck, whatever. Okay, here I go," Lesley sighed as he turned around and walked into the forest, fading into the fog.

...

Mel walked back into the apartment and closed the door, placing the bag with On hand weapons onto the floor. His face appeared melancholic and sombre, but he wasn't sad, despite the ceaseless whispers in his head, drumming on his skull like ant feet. He was too used to it, too uncaring and too dead to be bothered by it that much.

They had always been there, so, nothing had changed.

The blonde undead walked into the living room and saw Lesley sitting in a cross-legged position on the carpet. The teenager had his eyes closed and looked like he was meditating, and a small green aura was around him. A pleasant feeling tingled on Mel's dead skin as he got near Lesley, but he felt a repulsive pressure preventing him from getting too close.

The zombie just sat down in the same crossed position as Lesley and raised his undead eyes to stare at Lesley, without a sense of shame or awkwardness. The apartment was quiet, and neither of them made a sound to fill it, Lesley because he was unable to and Mel because he saw no reason to.

After ten minutes, Mel decided to check on something he received from Lesley.

Mel looked at his status with dispassionate eyes, understanding the information before him without needing an explanation. The words intentions just made themselves clear to him, even though he wasn't sure of his reading skills.

"Evolve?" Mel asked softly.

Looking at the requirements, Mel felt a subtle nab of negative emotions that died before they could gain breath. He turned his eyes back to Lesley, focusing on him, a silent observer.

Slowly Mel's eyes trailed across Lesley's hovering body, from his hair, to his face, skin and hands. The zombie looked down at his own hands and then back and forth for a few minutes, as if trying to remember something.

"W...er."

Mel stoped as he got up and left the apartment, closing the door behind him.
