Observer's Log: Entry V-121 – "Disparity"
I watch them drift.
Not apart… not quite. But not aligned, either.
Echo and Rei.
Two names carved from the same fracture in time, now threading divergent paths.
Echo remains gentle, intuitive— echoing things even he does not fully grasp.
Rei… sharp, wary, bracing against a truth he knows is near but cannot face.
I used to believe Echo was the anomaly. The soft break in the rigid algorithm.
Now I am less sure.
There is something buried in Rei.
Something that resists correction.
It hums beneath his skin like a delayed detonation. A memory or perhaps a burden— waiting to surface.
When he looks at Echo, he sees a mirror missing its frame.
And when Echo looks at him… he sees a brother losing his place.
Perhaps they were never meant to reach the same conclusion.
Perhaps the system was wise to keep their stories running parallel, but never quite intertwined.
But then again…
Everything bends.
Everything slips.
