BTVS - Part 1
Sweet Home. Extradimensional Space.
Despite the tune that was stuck in my head I'd not actually sold my soul to anyone. I felt fairly certain that I'd know if I had as it tends to be a big deal, but I had promised to become a slaver for them in exchange for getting out of my old life and into a new one. To be honest with at least myself I'd become a villain in exchange for power and the promise of adventure.
Before coming here I'd had plenty of time to plan where I'd start my journey. It hadn't taken me long to decide what world I'd come to. While the world of Buffy The Vampire Slayer (BTVS) was dangerous, coming here had given me a fair amount of points to work with and I'd needed those points for my build.
Plus I knew this world fairly well. I knew who the important players were, where they could be found, what they were up to, their powers, their weaknesses and all that. Another thing I knew was the location and uses and many powerful magical objects that could be found here.
Already I was making plans to capture some of the waifu on the list I found on The Company app. However, my plans depended upon what season of the show I'd found myself in. I wasn't foolish enough to step out of my Sweet Home to find out myself in case the world was currently ending. So I had to wait for the return of my waifu. Thankfully this didn't take long.
"I checked out the high school" reported my sole waifu.
Smartly I'd gotten the sexy cyborg called Cameron as a bodyguard and companion. She was better than any Slayer because she was more durable and didn't get tired, nor could pain or emotional distress distract her. Very much unlike the two Slayers who at times barely seemed sane.
Not counting the magic users of this world the only characters that could overpower Cameron with brute force without help, would be the likes of Glory and Illyria who didn't come along very often.
Aside from her physical might and an ability to work under pressure I'd chosen Cameron due to my attraction to Summer Glau and also because Cameron could not be turned into a vampire and become an enemy. Magical mind control should have no effect on someone whose mind did work like a human's mind.
"It was destroyed in a gas explosion a few weeks ago according to a newspaper I found" Cameron let me know "I examined the ruin and found some organic matter that isn't from any human or animal I have in my database, and the damage was not caused by a gas explosion".
Some models of Terminators could perform DNA tests just by tasting a sample of blood as such it made sense that Cameron had been able to sample the bits of the blown-up Mayor and get inconclusive results. I decided to avoid kissing for a while.
I checked out the paper it didn't look old and the picture made it clear that I must be in a time after season 3. That made sense as all the main characters would be legal adults by now aside from Dawn who would not exist. Also, Angel would be in LA by now making it possible for me to interfere with events in that show.
With this information, I could now really get to work on my plans, and I began writing stuff down on a large whiteboard that I'd found in the study of my Sweet Home as I'd selected the opinion for such a room when setting all this up.
"If this is early season four or shortly before it starts then I know who is worth capturing here in Sunnydale, and how we can find them," I said to my cyborg.
Buffy
She'd be the hardest to capture and perhaps it would be best not to try since she's important for the future of this world. My main concern with Buffy was staying out of her way so that she didn't slay me. Aside from that, I was stuck here until I did enough waifu capturing and errand running for the company, and Buffy was needed to keep this world from literally going to hell.
Faith
Was in a coma at this time so it should be a simple matter to stamp her, then wait 72 hours, as she wasn't going to get and move about any time soon, and then when she was mine. She would either wake up when Body Talent came into effect or be mine when she woke up on her own. If she didn't wake up by the time I was ready to leave this town I'd consider selling her as I felt sure that The Company could fix her up.
Willow
It might be possible to abduct her, but it might not be worthwhile even with her being a powerful witch as she's best friends with Buffy and she had a habit of taking her enemies even when they were prepared and much greater resources.
Tara
Her sexuality could be an issue, but I don't actually need to be intimate with every capture. She was a talented witch and I could even hook her up with someone during my travels. Given what happens to her in the show I'd be doing her a favour by taking her with me.
Amy
Thinking on it I wondered what would happen if I stamped her when she was in her rat body. Could I then revert her back to human using magic? Because I didn't think the Body Talent would undo a magical transformation.
If not I could still sell her I doubted the company, an organisation that could enslave goddesses and allow people to traverse the multiverse, would have any trouble reversing the spell that made Amy a rat.
Anya
According to the rules: If you capture a character "early," before they've achieved their full potential you will still receive their full capture value.
As compensation for the subject's relative weakness, we at the company will download the missing abilities and a framework for the missing skills into your capture target at no charge.
I'd checked the entry on Anya and the human version of her was not listed and the rules suggested that if I captured and sold human Anya, someone I had no use or desire for, then I should get 60% of the value of Anya as a wish-granting demon a tier 8 waifu and then I'd get an extra 20% for selling her.
Fred
She should be in the demonic dimension of Pylea since Angel won't save her until the end of the second season of his show and that's about the same time Buffy is trying to stop Glory from bleeding Dawn.
As such Fred should be somewhat saner if I can get to her sooner than Angel does. I didn't think I'd have much trouble convincing her to become a part of my harem in exchange for living in a world with showers, TV and Mexican food.
I might not even need the stamp, although I would use it since a point is a point, and she wasn't worth selling since she was a Tier One character yet she was cute and did have a brilliant mind. I would have uses for her.
Subjects not named on any list may also be captured for credits, provided they have at least two of the following in their original canon: name, personality or backstory, abilities or skills or powers, and appearance or design.
Aside from them, there were plenty of background characters I could get my hands on if I was clever. All they needed to have was a name heard on the show and some sort of useful skill. They might only be worth a single point, but that can add up.
I used the other whiteboard to list some of the useful items that I should try to acquire. Only I got distracted from that when Cameron begin to undress in front of me. I figured that I could get back to my planning after a break. I wasn't in any kind of rush.Last edited: Apr 9, 2022 Like Quote ReplyReport Reactions:Felrook, Easal, Daimon Agafo and 331 othersGothicjedi666Feb 24, 2022Reader modeNewAdd bookmarkThreadmarks ZedlarGetting out there.Feb 24, 2022Add bookmark#4okay love the title first thought that came to mind was a specific south park episode. i always enjoy your work so this should be good Like Quote ReplyReport Reactions:SageOfTheWest, !Renzie0, jack.ray and 3 othersThreadmarks BTVS - Part 2 New Threadmarks Gothicjedi666Lover and writer of SI fics.Feb 24, 2022Add bookmark#5I Owe My Soul To The Company Store (Waifu Catalog)
BTVS - Part 2
Wolfram and Hart. L.A.
A late-night meeting wasn't an odd event here at WR&H. After all evil never sleeps and despite the necro-tempered glass and the ample underground parking, there were some clients who simply couldn't make a daytime meeting. Add to the sheer inability to get a decent ETA on interdimensional travel, and it was important that the employees of The Firm were flexible with their working hours.
Sure it killed their social lives and made it impossible to sustain a marriage or to properly raise children, but it did have its pluses. Lilah Morgan had made some very useful contacts over the years and she'd learned quite a lot during these meetings. Which would serve her well on her climb up the corporate ladder.
Tonight's meeting was made up of just a few members of the special projects division. They dealt with cases the other departments just weren't suited for, such as plans of particular importance for the firm's long term goals. This sometimes included the recruiting and protection of assassins with supernatural abilities.
Lilah Morgan could see no client here nor anything else to hint at what Holland Manners, the current head of the Special Projects Division had called them into his office for, that could be good or bad. Holland liked to his staff on their toes even when he took the time to mentor them.
The only other people in the room were Linsey McDonald, who Lilah actually considered a threat to her position and Lee Mercer who she didn't worry about at all.
While the room might not tell her much, Lilah figured that this meeting would affect the entire department and that Holland was giving these members of the team the news now because his three most important underlings needed to know.
"Just hours ago we got word from the Senior Partners that a Contractor from The Company entered our dimension" Holland Manners started by saying "The Company is a vast and powerful organisation that is a real threat to The Firm because like us it also has branches in many different dimensions. The difference is scale and power. The Company could in open conflict crush Wolfram and Hart yet it has never tried".
The idea of there being something out there that could outclass The Firm greatly interested Miss Morgan. She wanted to find out more as did her two peers.
"The Contractor is an agent for The Company and they are very dangerous on their own. How dangerous they are is something that depends on how long and how well they've been serving their bosses" Mr Manners explained, "A lot of their power comes from capturing people they consider desirable. They can enslave anyone they wish and have powers we simply don't understand. Most of them enslave women with powers and skills the Contractor might find useful".
Lilah didn't like the idea of someone being able to enslave her. Lilah didn't have powers in the sense that she could cast spells or move things with her mind, but she had a lot of legal knowledge, understanding of The Firm's workings and a lot of other useful information.
"What can we do about this Contractor?" she asked.
Could The Firm defend her? Would it even try?
"This Contractor is somewhat protected by The Company, enough that we don't want to try capturing him or interfering with his operations" warned Manners "However, if one of our clients kills him at least we won't get the blame, and Wolfram and Hart's employees are protected by an agreement between The Firm and The Company. We just can't move against him directly".
That made Lilah feel somewhat better.
"Hopefully we can arrange a meeting between one of you and the Contractor just to make sure that they know that we don't intend to get in their way and they might even be able to help us with some business if we make it worth their time. With their abilities and waifus, as their slaves are called for some reason, they can be very useful. The Contractor can become a client of The Firm just remember that they have something very strong backing them up. Keep everything informal, none of our special contracts. I don't want a Contractor coming after us even if his or her bosses might not take any action".
Lilah hoped that she'd be the one to met this Contractor as he or she sounded very interesting. If she had some protection then this Contractor could be a valuable ally rather than an enemy.
"Do we have any files on these people?" asked Linsey McDonald.
As it turned out they didn't. They had next to no idea of what had entered this world. No wonder the higher-ups were so nervous they didn't like not knowing everything that was going on.
"No two Contractors are alike" answered Manners "Their abilities can vary greatly and their slaves have been known to possess power that can be considered god-like. We just don't have any concrete information on this one other than he or she is somewhere in Sunnydale. Since this is the nearest branch of The Firm they are our concern and Wolfram and Hart can't get involved with the Hellmouth. We'll have to invite the Contractor here".
Mayor Wilkins the founder of Sunnydale had been a client of The Firm for a century before he died and he'd cleverly worked out a deal to keep the Hellmouth as his own personal kingdom. One that Wolfram and Hart simply couldn't interfere with due to that deal and still couldn't despite the Mayor having died while trying to become a powerful demon.
"I'll handle the invite" stated Manners "And let the Contractor decide who he wants to be his or her point of contact with The Firm. If this is a male Contractor most likely he'll want a female contact, but that's not always certain as Contractors are not a uniform group of people".
Since there was no more information to share and no more discussion was needed the meeting soon came to an end. Lilah was sure that there must be more information out there. It was time to start making use of her contacts.Last edited: Mar 2, 2022 Like Quote ReplyReport Reactions:Felrook, Easal, dronmk2 and 305 othersGothicjedi666Feb 24, 2022Reader modeNewAdd bookmark Threadmarks Threadmarks BTVS - Part 3 New Threadmarks Gothicjedi666Lover and writer of SI fics.Feb 24, 2022Add bookmark#6I Owe My Soul To The Company Store (Waifu Catalog)
BTVS - Part 3
Hosptial. Sunnydale.
Despite the fact that this town was supposed to be vampire central, my trip to the hospital was so far a rather quiet one. A single Vampire did try to turn me into its latest meal, but Cameron had been on her guard and she'd staked the undead creature before it could lay a hand on me.
The two movies (and I would never admit that there were more than two Terminator movies) and the short-lived TV series do a good job of showing Terminators to be tough, but until today I'd had no idea of how fast they could move they needed to fight.
"It thought I was a Slayer," remarked Cameron.
To be fair she did look like one since she appeared to be a young human female with superpowers. The vampire hadn't even noticed her until Cameron grabbed him and so must not have been able to smell that she wasn't human. Perhaps the creature had been too focused on me.
As I approached the front of the hospital I wondered how many people died from Vampire attacks in this town every night and how people could keep repressing all the weird shit that went on around here.
One of the reasons why I had chosen this world, and the town of Sunnydale, was because of the whole attitude of 'see no evil hear no evil' that applied to anything supernatural, and that would include me since I wasn't exactly normal.
Sunnydale was a very strange town once you started looking into it. The town had its own airport, a highway, and an express train coming here from LA, making it very easy to come to the town yet it didn't have the population to justify any of that.
I knew that this town was a trap. It lured people in with cheap house prices and things like its own zoo, but that was just bait on the hook. It even affected how people thought and I knew that it would be wise for me to spend as little time on these streets as possible.
I figured that groups like the Powers That Be as well as Wolfram and Hart would have noticed my arrival, but The Company was powerful enough to stop such higher powers from simply snuffing out their Contractors even if my new bosses wouldn't do anything to protect me from other dangers.
Since people who learned to ignore the things going on around them here in Sunnydale tended to live longer than those who stuck their noses into other people's business no one bothered me as I made my way to Faith Lehane's room despite it being way past visiting hours.
I would have gotten here sooner, but Cameron's services that didn't involve being my bodyguard had been on offer, and unlike human women, she didn't get tired, have a gag reflex, get headaches, or care about protection.
The lateness of the hour made it easier for Cameron and me to sneak into the Dark Slayer's hospital room, and since we were alone I once more considered the possible outcomes of the action I was about to take.
If I altered Faith's destiny then she'd not be here to help Buffy and the other Slayers defeat the Ubervamp army of The First. However, if I dealt with Glory myself then that wouldn't be an issue since Glory is the reason Buffy dies and if that Slayer doesn't die then The First will never come after the Slayers.
Sure I might be a somewhat evil dimensional slaver, but I'm not going to doom to an entire world just because I want six points and another waifu. If I stamped Faith I'd be committed to killing or capturing Glory, or at least killing Ben.
I stopped pacing for a moment when I realised that I knew that Ben was Glory. The spell that prevented people from realising that Ben and Glory are in some sort of physical existence timeshare either hadn't been cast yet or didn't affect me.
This made me smile as I had a Terminator, a cyborg created to hunt and kill people. Sure I only Ben's first name and that he was a nurse, or currently training to be one, but I'd know him on sight and there could only be so many people called Ben working in a hospital.
If I got my hands on the right records it should be possible to find Ben and have Cameron take him out from a safe distance. Glory might make an appearance if she sensed danger, but that wouldn't help if I got Cameron to sniper him.
I considered trying to Stamp Ben, but I didn't know if that would get me Glory as well, or she'd separate from Ben, something I didn't want to happen as that would only make her more dangerous.
Before making a move to remove Glory from this world, I'd need a few backup plans before I went near Ben, so for now, I needed to focus on Faith and not let myself be distracted. To this end, I Stamped the back of the Dark Slayer's hand and nothing at all happened since.
Faith was pale looking, not shocking considering that she'd been indoors for a while, other than her Slayer healing powers seemed to be keeping her in good shape. They must be considering that even after months lying still she was able to get up and move around without any trouble.
I had to wonder why no vampire had found her and drank her blood since Slayer's blood was meant to be tasty to them. I knew that the Watchers had an agent here, but that wouldn't matter since I would stash Faith in Sweet Home once I'd captured her.
"I guess we come back in 72 hours and see if it works," I said to Cameron.
There were other matters for me to take care of over the next few days. People who I can make contact with, important objects to collect, and a sexy cyborg who wouldn't refuse me anything sexual. As such, I had plenty of ways to keep busy.
BTVS - Part 4
Apartment Building. Sunnydale.
After some work with a lockpicking kit that she'd put together, Cameron opened the door to the Watcher's apartment and then she entered the man's home with her a Glock 17 pistol ready to fire. I had no idea where she'd gotten the pistol from, but it seemed likely that some waifu got given out with certain bits of equipment. That was something I could look into if I ever purchased any more waifu.
"We need to move quickly," I said "I don't want to be here when he gets
back".
Cameron and I had spent the morning scouting Giles's apartment, waiting for him to leave. I could have just sent Cameron in and let her knock the guy out, but that would get Buffy involved, and just because the Watcher gets knocked out a lot during the course of the show I wasn't willing to assume that he didn't have some way of defending himself with magic.
"It's clear" declared Cameron.
When I entered the flat I was reminded about how in the TV show, after the destruction of Sunnydale High School and its library, Giles' apartment was pressed into service as the Scooby Gang's primary headquarters. The newly neutered vampire Spike also briefly lived there as a captive before finding his own crypt. This town hardly had a shortage of such places.
Shortly after the Scoobies battled the infamous vampire known as Dracula, Giles purchased the Magic Box, which took the apartment's place as the Scoobies' headquarters for the next couple of years, until it was finally destroyed during Willow's dark magic trip.
Sometime after Buffy's death, Giles moved back to England, When he returned, he became a resident in the Summers household and remained there until the destruction of Sunnydale. Which meant someone else must have moved in. Hopefully, they didn't get attacked by demons as often as Giles did.
I'd considered looting the apartment of the Watcher Giles while also wreaking it so as to cover my tracks, he would never notice one missing item among all the wreckage, however, that seemed foolish.
Cameron had pointed out that she didn't have fingerprints or any DNA to leave lying around so it was best for me not to touch anything even if the police were unlikely to take any real action when it came to solving the crime we were about to admit.
It was much better to let my sexy cyborg (who looked really good in a pair of tight jeans that would be murder on her circulation if she had any) only take exactly what we needed and nothing else.
Looking around I saw that the interior of the apartment was a two-story building that consisted of a large living room space which was divided by a wall that had a door-sized gap that led to his kitchen. To the right to the entrance was a staircase that led over the door and onto a simple platform with Giles's bed on it.
The apartment would at night be illuminated by several light fixtures built into the walls and one hanging from the ceiling over his stairs. I noticed these little details much more clearly than I would have before becoming a Contractor. I didn't know what perk or feature was responsible for this and I didn't wish to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Looking around some more I saw that the living room contained a large carpet and a wooden desk, along with a couch that was facing from the entrance and towards the television and a fireplace. There was also a small bathroom here, but I had no interest in that part of the flat as all the good stuff was here.
Most of Giles's stuff was just junk to me, I had could acquire old vinyl albums anywhere, but he owned an impressive book collection, at least one of which was of interest to me.
"We're looking for a text on The Gentlemen," I said to Cameron "I can't remember exactly where it is, but it's in a book of fairy tales".
The Gentlemen were a group of demons known from fairytales. They roamed from town to town stealing voices in order to gather seven human hearts. They were served by a group of demonic footmen dressed in straight jackets who did all the fighting and muscle-work for them.
They might turn up while I was in Sunnydale, but since I slept in an extra-dimensional space whatever magic they did shouldn't affect me and so I should be able to scream them to death as Buffy did in the show.
Cameron didn't have a human voice and it needed to be a natural voice as such I might end up dealing with the demons myself before they could start harvesting human hearts. I might as well save a few people while I was here if only to make myself feel like less of a villain.
It might need to be a woman's scream thinking on it, but I could always have Cameron find the box they used to store the voices and then let Buffy deal with them in her own time.
"I found it" reported my cyborg waifu.
The Terminator had scanned through a lot of books very carefully before placing them back on the shelf. There was no need to take the actual book now that Cameron had taken the time to memorise the entry and I knew the important details already.
What I did need to take from here was The Word of Valios which was a 15th Century talisman that was essential for completing the Sacrifice of Three, which was a way of ending the world. I could recall Rupert Giles saying that he bought it from a sorcerer at an estate sale at some point.
In the show, it was stolen by three Vahrall demons, who sought to bring forth the end of the world and they threw it into the Hellmouth for their sacrifice. The Buffy of that timeline jumps into the Hellmouth and prevents the sacrifice from being completed, but since I was now altering the timeline I couldn't be sure the Buffy on this world could do the same. Best to keep the talisman in my pocket dimension.
"Let's get going," I said.
We left and Cameron managed to relock the door thanks to her skills. Soon we were off to complete our next objective.Last edited: Mar 2, 2022 Like Quote ReplyReport Reactions:Easal, dronmk2, Daimon Agafo and 298 othersGothicjedi666Feb 24, 2022Reader modeNewAdd bookmark Threadmarks Threadmarks BTVS - Part 5 New Threadmarks Gothicjedi666Lover and writer of SI fics.Feb 24, 2022Add bookmark#17I Owe My Soul To The Company Store
BTVS - Part 5
Sweet Home. Extradimensional Space.
Once again I was in the study and I had two whiteboards in front of me that I was covering in notes about things that could be useful to me.
1) The Orbs of Nezzla'khan - enchantment to give you superhuman strength, and physical invulnerability.
I had no idea if the invulnerability worked against magic, but that could be tested, and I knew for sure that they did defend the owner against physical attacks, even those backed up my mystical power, while providing supernatural toughness, because Warren Meers, who was a weak little nerd, had been able to go toe-to-toe with the Slayer and might have won if Jonathan hadn't told her how to defeat Warren.
Should my memory serve they were hidden behind a magical force field that only the demons who lived there could get through, however, this wasn't an issue as it was proven that someone wearing the hide of a dead Nezzla Demon, if that was what they were called, could get through the barrier.
I'd send Cameron in as she was smaller than me and would be better suited to handle things if the plan went wrong. Plus she was less like to suffer from any after-effects of being in contact with demonic flesh. Sure I had defensive perks, but why risk it when I could end up like Buffy in that episode when she becomes telepathic and nearly goes mad.
I really desired those orbs and if nothing else it would be best to keep them out of the hands of villains. Any heroes who found them would likely store them away or destroy them for reasons that made sense to them.
2) The Ferula Gemini - Splits people into their two halves. If one dies, then both die.
Something like that would be cool to have if not for the fact that I'd rather just kill my enemies than risk things getting out of control. Might come in handy if I ever found two people stuck in the same body like someone who was possessed or someone like Glory who was time sharing with her 'brother' Ben, separating them. Not that I planned to do anything other than have Cameron kill her.
3) The Gem of Amara - Removes vampire vulnerabilities.
As I'd already gone over, the vampire called Spike should be arriving soon to start digging for this. I would have the advantage of being able to look during the day when I went looking for it.
Once I had the ring it was going in my pocket dimension for safekeeping, and I figured that if it worked for all kinds of vampires then I might save for a vampire waifu or just give it to a vampire capture so as to benefit another Contractor.
Harmony was a vampire capture that Cameron should be able to restrain for a few days while the Stamp took effect. I couldn't imagine why anyone would want her as a waifu, but points were points and she'd come to town with Spike sooner or later.
As an added bonus the gem was just sitting around along with a load of other treasure. If I found that then my money troubles would be over. I'd have to find someone who was willing to convert treasure into cash for a person who didn't legally exist.
Demons must have that kind of trouble all the time. Some do live in apartments above ground and need cash. Heck, there are demons running businesses over in LA.
So perhaps I should go to Lorne's demon bar in LA and try to find someone who can offer certain services to those who can't make use of human providers.
I'd also love to find out if Cameron has enough of a soul, or whatever it is Lorne looks at then people sing, to even have a destiny. I might even sing myself just to get an idea of what is in store for me.
4) Ted the Robot's stuff
I would need to scour his house for research stuff that the inventor had left behind. Ted's creator had made a robot more advanced than anything seen in my world and did so years ago if my memory of the show was right.
Likely the place had been cleared out a while ago, but I should go check it out just in case something got left behind and it wouldn't take long to track his home down since Cameron could access computer records with ease.
5) Troll God's Hammer - Magic Hammer
That hammer could harm Glory, who I planned to deal with myself while in this universe, and there could be threats out there that Cameron wasn't equipped to deal with since they might need killing by something mystical.
If nothing else that hammer would make for a nice trophy to display.
6) Glove of Myneghon - Taser glove.
It should have already been destroyed, but I'd be a fool to assume that the worlds I visited as a Contractor would match up exactly with what I was expecting. I did not wish to use the glove as if Buffy could figure out how to defeat someone with the glove others could. As such if I found it I would store it in my pocket dimension so that no one else could use it and cause a mess, or maybe I would sell it.
7) Slayer Scythe - Empower Faith
While it is a Slayer specific weapon and therefore of no direct use to me as such I'd let Faith have it since someone might as well be using it, and while the Stamp ensured loyalty there was no harm in buttering up my waifus with gifts.
Since it could be used to both empower and depower Slayers then letting it fall into the hands of monsters would be a very bad thing. Besides messing with the Slayer line is what got the First Evil all riled up in the last season so there was no sense in letting anyone use to mess with the Slayer line.
8) Mohra blood
It could make an ensouled vampire into a human again and possibly it could heal people, but there were other ways to do that, and since there was only one vampire with a soul, at least in this world, it didn't seem worth acquiring unless I had an easy way of doing it.
Morhra demons were warriors and striking their weak spot caused them to explode if I recalled correctly as such getting my hands on their blood would be dangerous.
9) The Temple of Proserpexa
Not something that I wished to acquire due to its size if nothing else. Instead, I was thinking of ways to destroy it just in case this world did end up with a Dark Willow or someone else willing to use it in an attempt to destroy the world.
There would be other ways to destroy the world if Dark Willow really wanted to yet it still made sense to remove that easy option. Some explosive charges should at least damage the building enough to render it useless.
10) Letterman's Jacket
Tempting to acquire since it helped with the ladies. Only it seemed like it would cause a lot of trouble I didn't want Dawn or someone like her doesn't end up killing themselves just to get my attention. I could just stamp women so perhaps I should try to acquire it if only lock it away.
11) The Dagon Sphere
That was a mystical object created to repel That Which Cannot Be Named. I would need to either find it or make one, assuming that was possible, in case my attempts to have Cameron take out Ben somehow went wrong.
If it had been made by Dagon who was the God of prosperity and Syrian father of gods, then I doubted that I'd be able to make one even with the aid of witches, but it was worth looking into.
12) Enochian protection runes
They were symbols derived from the Enochian alphabet, utilized in a concealment spell. They had the power to render the user invisible to both Higher Beings, Seers, Mystics and technological surveillance devices, though not the naked eye.
Right now I wasn't doing enough to make the PTBs (Powers That Be) care about my presence, but that could change so I should look for the right symbols and find someone who could mark them on my skin.
I would need my waifu to have them as well which could cause issues. I had no idea if a Terminator could even get tattoos and how did Slayer healing handle them. How would my Body Talent react? Perhaps it would be better to see if they worked if just sewn onto clothing. You could put them on walls to hide people inside a house so it should work on clothes as well.
These runes also seemed to grant Lindsey his enhanced physical attributes, transmutation and telekinetic abilities as he no longer seemed to possess them after being stripped of said symbols. However, I just needed the concealment part of the magic for now. I could use points to gain abilities that I would better understand. Lindsey might have taken years to master such powers and I might not have much time in this world.
I was just about to call for Cameron when my Company phone rang. I had a mission that promised some points. I needed to complete missions, as well as do other things, so as to fill up my progress bar, and this mission was a milk run and something I'd been planning to do anyway.
BTVS - Part 6
Cemeteries. Sunnydale.
"Here we are," I said to Cameron as I checked The Company smartphone for the details "This is the right cemetery so the gem should be somewhere below us".
As a Contractor, it wasn't just waifu that I went after on behalf of my employers. Sometimes they wanted certain objects acquired for them or important events to turn out in a way that benefitted them. To handle these matters they sent people like me on missions. They would get what they wanted and I would be suitably rewarded.
My current mission was to acquire the Gem of Amara which was part of a ring that could be found among some other treasure here in this graveyard. Why the Company wanted this trinket I didn't know. I guessed that someone had realised as I had that it could empower a vampire waifu and The Company might be able to alter the magic so that it worked for any kind of vampire.
What mattered was that they were offering me five points for something I was going to do anyway and it was a task that would take little effort from me. I was well aware that I'd agreed to work for an evil organisation and while this mission didn't involve harming anyone that might be true in the future. This could just be a way of easing me in.
I could always refuse later missions and this little job only had a few requirements. I needed to acquire the ring before Spike did, and that was easy enough as Season Four hadn't even started yet. I also couldn't use any local captures to help me, not that I had any of those yet. Why the mission had these limits I didn't know either. I could only assume that someone at The Company just wanted to annoy me a little.
"There's only one structure here that is both large and deep enough to hide the treasure," said Cameron as she inspected the blueprints we'd acquired from a local library "We shouldn't have much trouble getting down there".
After entering the tomb, with Cameron going first, I scanned the area visually and I saw nothing of interest. There were two big stone coffins, some spider webs and a lot of dust. Nothing more I could see.
My cyborg who had far superior ways of gathering information found that there was a level lower than this one. She managed to find a hidden trapdoor that led down into the lower level.
Our battery-powered torches lit up the room well enough, showing us that it was indeed full of riches. I had no idea if this was the treasure we were supposed to be looking for was this stuff, only there was a lot of gold and silver stuff down here, and I while I knew that the Gem of Amara, the artefact we'd come here for, was set into a ring that didn't narrow it down much as there was so much to go through.
"I've played enough D&D to know when something looks too good to be true it's going to be booby-trapped," I said "Check for traps and be prepared for undead guardians?".
We shouldn't rule out monsters guarding this tomb as while Spike didn't trigger anything in the show that I could recall, he'd come from underneath and once he had the ring he'd just left so it was possible that trying to remove other items could cause problems.
So far at least nothing had jumped out at us and nothing we'd stepped on had triggered anything. Seemed odd to be me as while there were many crypts in this town this treasure should have been found by now if it wasn't protected by anything. Unless the protections had faded away over time.
"Any of this stuff could be cursed" I warned.
I opened up a portal to Sweet Home and then without touching anything Cameron aided me in packaging up as much of the treasure as possible into any containers that we could find. There was too much here to store safely as such it was good that we could come back.
"Don't touch the ring either" I instructed Cameron "We don't know what it might do to someone who isn't a vampire".
She was living tissue on the outside and that could die. If that happened she wouldn't be able to go in public as she could now and the sex would be terrible.
"We'll need to find someone who can examine all of this and convert at
least some of it into American dollars," I said.
The Company did pay me a normal wage, in fact, it was a generous one, but wouldn't until the end of my first month so it was lucky that Sweet Home came fully stocked and Cameron didn't need to eat.
Once the ring we'd come here to find was sold by me using the smartphones app and I got my five points, I checked the progress bar and wasn't disappointed. Considering that I'd been in this world for about a day I'd made fair progress.
Sure I was in no rush to leave, but I understood that sooner or later the higher powers would get annoyed enough with me to set the Slayer against me or maybe put a bounty on my head.
I looked around the room at the other bits and pieces. There was no chance of me not coming back to grab the rest of this stuff once I'd found a way to turn some of it into paper money and I'd found a means of getting some valid ID so that I could open up a bank account. I didn't wish to store my wealth in one place.
"If nothing else I guess it could be used to butter up my waifu" I mused, knowing that the Stamps would have their limits "I'll give them all the odd trinket to keep them happy".
Cameron turned to look at me.
"Girls like pretty things," she said as if was sage wisdom.
Well, she wasn't wrong. I might even be able to use something shiny to get the Slayer off my back as a sort of peace offering should things go wrong.
"Do you like pretty things?" I asked.
She gave me a look I couldn't read.
"I am a pretty thing" she answered.
