Yelu Yan stood outside the inner chamber, waiting anxiously. Piercing cries of Li Xianyun's agony echoed from within, while basin after basin of bloody water was carried out of the room.
He wanted to rush in, but Yaduo hurriedly stopped him, "Ayan, your mother is a physician, so you should listen to her. Going in would only add to the chaos."
Yelu Yan's eyes were bloodshot with concern. "So I'm just supposed to stand here and do nothing?"
"What could you do if you went in?" Yaduo gripped Yelu Yan's arm, "Ayan, let's wait outside. Xianxian will be alright."
At that moment, Li Xianyun's crying could be heard from inside. Yelu Yan placed his hand on the door, calling out in a hoarse voice, "Xianxian…"
Tia's voice came from within, "Ayan, don't come in."
Yelu Yan reluctantly ceased his attempt to push the door open, feeling as though he was being roasted over an open flame, robbed of any semblance of peace.
