Chapter 27 - A new day.

Paimon was gourging herself on food, and the Traveler was sipping on tea. I was just quietly looking at the both of them.

"So, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"Mmm." The Traveler finished her tea and placed the cup on the table, "I was here for a commision, came back from Liyue."

"Oh. How have things been there?" I asked, I didn't know what time it would be right now, she said she was gonna go to Liyue quite some time ago, but it seems that the 'project' in Liyue had still not ended.

"Well..... You see..." The Traveler searched for words then said, "We were just falsely accused of murder by the Tianquan of Ligue, just yesterday. I got caught up in some other ordeal and just got to Liyue in time for the Rite of Descension. It's a long story." She said, quickly moving on from the topic, clearly not wanting to go deeper.

So it seems that we are just around the time of the Liyue archon quest.

"So, tell me more about your sister." The Traveler said.

"Hm? Well.... She is an High Commander Of the Fatui, when we were little, she enlisted herself into the Fatui, I rarely see her these days, and my memory seems to be hazey about the past. I think it might be the injuries from Dragonspine." I said, trying to end the topic as fast as I could.

"That so.." Lumine said and then looked at me, "Well. I have another commission to wrap up, I'll see you later." Then she looked at Paimon, "Let's go, Paimon."

Paimon hurriedly swallows whatever she was eating and grabbed the two remaining toasts on her plate and waved goodbye at me as both she and the Traveler began to walk away.

There wasn't much for me to do as of now, so I too headed out, towards Grand Goth Hotel.

Few Minutes Later

When I arrived at Grand Goth Hotel, it wasn't even half as full of Fatui as it was before, with the Anemo Gnosis obtained, they were probably shifted to a place like Liyue or Inazuma.

I walked towards the counter, and there was now a Fatui agent sitting there.

When he noticed me, he stood up, "Mr. Volkov, I was expecting you. It's pleasing to see you fully recovered."

"Thank you. Any assignments for me?" I asked him.

"Yes, it was left by Lady Signora for you specially, alongside this note." With that he handed over a note to Boris.

I took the note and opened it. It read -

Stupid boy, were you not instructed to steer clear of danger? I was in charge of your safety, with your increased status among the ranks, i would've been held accountable for us losing you. You will be punished by me later, but since you want to work so bad, I've left some tasks for you. Complete them, and head to Liyue when told to in the coming months.

- Rosalyne, La Signora.

The agent handed me a clipboard.

And the tasks were..... Rather mundane.

Fatui and The Adventurer's Guild were both sort of rivals, both provided services, but The Guild had some restrictions and the Fatui would do anything for a suitable price.

Both were run by the same person anyway. But that also meant sometimes the Fatui would take on commissions from the Guild.

Right now, I had to clear around 7 Hilichurl camps, escort cargo, help and elderly couple clear their farm of slimes, with More coming soon.

"We are Fatui, why am I having to do this?" I asked.

"Both your sister and Lady Harbinger decided you do these tasks and take a rest from the more tasks at hand. The higher-ups greatly value you and do not wish to see you be put in peril again, thus you were given chores to carry out." With that, he sat back down and went back to writing down something on a paper.

I sighed and turned towards the exit and walked out.

Soon enough, i was making my way across the bridge.

The morning wind was great, the songs, the chirping of birds, the beautiful sight ahead, everything was great.

"You are back up, huh." A familiar voice said.

I turned around, and there he was, Master Diluc, standing there with his hands crossed.

"Good morn-"

"What are the Fatui's plans in Mondstadt?" Diluc asked.

"Uh.... Nothing really. The main objective here has been achieved." I said.

"What objective?" Diluc asked.

"That I don't know." I said.

"Hmph. Well, if the Fatui have any plans in Mondstadt anytime soon, you tell me, otherwise you will be the first one I kill." Diluc said.

"Wow, not even a how are you huh?" I said.

"Hmph." Diluc frowned, "What makes you think we are friends? I didn't kill you that night because you are a kid, and I am only being friendly with you because you provide information. The moment you stopped, i couldn't care less."

"Ah well-"

"Ahead off now, I have work to do and you probaby do too." And Diluc turned out and walked off towards probably the gate.

And the day begins...
