Chu Zihang struggled to stand up again, holding 'Lust' in his left hand and 'Wrath' in his right, breathing heavily.
Xia Mi, seeing him look as if he might collapse any second, bit her lip tightly, a look of deep sorrow in her eyes.
After seeing the bishop's true face, the gold in his pupils grew even deeper, flowing like lava.
The rage hidden within them seemed as though it wanted to devour the bishop's flesh and blood.
"It's you... Pompeii Gattuso, King of the Sky and Wind, Odin. You were the one behind all of this!"
"Hehehe, very good."
Pompeii touched the spot on his forehead where 'Wrath' had pierced, his face as dark as a thousand-year-old iceberg. His eyes, cold and sinister, said, "I underestimated you, Chu Zihang. I didn't expect that in just a little over a year, you'd grow to this level. I'm quite satisfied."
"Where is Chu Tianjiao?!"
At this moment, Chu Zihang could no longer suppress the Wrath burning inside him. He shouted in a loud, furious voice.
"Chu Tianjiao? Oh, I remember now, that foolish man."
Pompeii sneered mockingly, his lips curling into a cruel smile. "A man who foolishly tried to strike down a god. Naturally, he's already dead."
Then, he greedily eyed Chu Zihang, licking his lips and suppressing his excitement. His expression became slightly manic, almost insane. "But it's alright, soon... you and your father will reunite!"
"Odin—!!"
A roar erupted, and the air trembled.
Scenes from the past replayed in Chu Zihang's mind—the man who raised his sword against a god on a stormy night.
The accumulated Wrath turned into power, and Chu Zihang's eyes glowed a blood-red, filled with murderous intent. He took a step forward, a powerful wind howling behind him, dragging a fierce wind dragon, as he charged straight toward Pompeii.
Pompeii sneered coldly, raising his hand, and lightning struck down from the sky.
In the dazzling lightning, a black spear, engraved with complex and deep patterns, resembling a natural branch that had not been refined, suddenly appeared.
"Gungnir!"
Upon seeing the dark spear, Xia Mi was instantly shocked, turning to Pompeii and saying, "So it's you… You never died!"
The Norse god Odin forged this divine weapon from the World Tree, blessed so that once thrown, it would never miss its target.
Pompeii turned and sneered at the girl, saying, "Hah, don't compare me to you. We are not the same."
Whoosh!!
The wind howled, and a terrifying figure rushed forward.
Like that stormy night, Chu Zihang rushed toward the high god, just as his father had done.
Boom!
Golden flames surrounded Pompeii as he swung the famous 'Gungnir,' as if a mountain had been pushed in front of him.
The immense shockwave pressed against every nerve of Chu Zihang, even his blood, flesh, and bones seemed to scream under the overwhelming pressure.
Yet, his heart, burning with heat, pumped even more fiercely, sending blood to his limbs.
He was going to slay a god!
'Wrath' suddenly expanded into the shape of a dragon, roaring as it danced through the air.
Like a steel whip, it created afterimages, accompanied by a sharp sound as it cut toward the god surrounded in golden flames.
"Not enough!"
Gungnir struck lightly, meeting the blade of Wrath.
Clang!
Both were divine weapons of alchemy at their peak, and the collision sparked countless bright flashes.
'Wrath' coiled around Gungnir like a dragon, its serrated teeth locking the spear in place, preventing it from being pulled back immediately.
Seizing that moment, Chu Zihang lunged forward, drawing his left-hand dagger 'Lust' from his waist, slashing toward Pompeii's neck.
"Not enough!"
Pompeii's voice boomed like thunder. He spun the spear and suddenly swung it back.
It knocked 'Lust' away and, with a fierce sweep, struck Chu Zihang in the waist and abdomen, sending him flying through the air.
The dark blue-black scales on Chu Zihang's waist and abdomen were easily torn by Gungnir, leaving a deep wound. Blood sprayed out as his body was sent flying, rolling across the ground for dozens of meters.
Before Chu Zihang could catch his breath, he saw Pompeii raise his divine spear high.
Boom!!!
A thunderclap shattered the dome of the Pantheon.
Then, countless bolts of lightning struck the spear's tip, emitting a blinding light. The entire spear seemed to radiate an overwhelming sense of pressure.
The intricate patterns carved on it seemed to respond to the lightning in the clouds.
Pompeii gripped Gungnir's dark spear and thrust it forward with all his strength. From the sharp tip, torrents of dazzling lightning poured out, instantly engulfing Chu Zihang's figure.
"Chu Zihang—!"
Xia Mi's voice echoed through the Pantheon.
After a moment, the blinding light faded, revealing Chu Zihang, now charred all over.
The lightning had left horrifying scars on his body. The dark scales were shattered, and his exposed skin had turned black and hardened, steam rising from the intense heat.
Pompeii leaned on Gungnir, his eyes cold, and said indifferently, "This is the consequence of challenging a god."
As soon as he finished speaking, Chu Zihang collapsed to the ground with a thud.
"Chu Zihang! Chu Zihang!" Xia Mi struggled to rise, but the alchemical shackles bound her firmly in place!
Even the slightest movement caused the shackles to dig deeper into her collarbone, the pain so intense that she gritted her teeth, blood flowing from her shoulder and staining the ground.
"Odin!!!" The girl's eyes were bloodshot, her hatred almost tangible.
"Heh, don't look at me like that, Jörmungandr." Pompeii's lips curled into a mocking smile as he looked down at Xia Mi, coldly saying, "You were naive back then, and I never imagined that after all these years, you'd still be so naive."
"Odin!!!"
Xia Mi endured the searing pain in her collarbone as she growled through clenched teeth, her eyes burning with anger, "I will kill you!"
"What? The mighty Dragon King has fallen in love with a human?"
The mockery in Pompeii's eyes grew stronger as he raised the tip of the Gungnir spear and pierced Xia Mi's shoulder blade. He scoffed, "Jormungandr, you really make me laugh. Always so childish."
"Wait, wait, you're the Dragon King?" Chen Mo Tong's eyes widened in shock.
She felt like the news she had heard today was far more shocking than all the gossip she'd heard over the years!
Her roommate... was the Dragon King?
And on top of that...
She had fallen for Chu Zihang?!
"What's wrong? Didn't you tell them?" Pompeii couldn't help but laugh, then taunted, "She, Xia Mi, is Jormungandr, the King of Earth and Mountains!"
Chen Mo Tong, stunned, turned to look at the girl beside her. The girl was in pain, eyes closed, lips bitten and bleeding.
"It's fine, soon you'll all reunite in hell," Pompeii said, a hint of boredom in his voice. He glanced at the yellow-robed saint below and said lightly, "Go, bring him here."
"But, Archbishop..." One of the yellow-robed saints hesitated. "Aren't we still short two sacrifices?"
"It's fine," Pompeii's lips curled into a slight smile as he glanced at Nono. "Even if we're missing two, she can still make do."
"Understood."
The yellow-robed saints moved toward the unconscious Chu Zihang.
Just then, several bullets shot out from the darkness, hitting the saints with precision.
Bang!
The heads of the saints exploded like watermelons.
"Oh?"
Pompeii's eyes narrowed slightly, sensing a hint of coldness.
It felt like the oppressive atmosphere of a savage beast, carrying a chilling killing intent that surged from the darkness.
Footsteps, growing louder as they approached.
Gradually, a figure stepped into the main hall. In the light of the surrounding torches, a delicate face was revealed.
"Lu Mingfei, you've finally come."
Pompeii's lips curled into a slight smile, his grip tightening around Gungnir, as his entire body once again glowed with light.
Lu Mingfei slowly walked to the unconscious Chu Zihang's side, coldly gazing at the "Wrath" that was embedded in the rock, casually pulling it out with ease.
Golden veins ran along the dark blade, as though awakening a slumbering beast.
Next, he drew out "Lust," and only then did he suddenly raise his head. His eyes, red-gold and filled with Wrath, made everyone feel as if they were staring directly at the sun.
"When I return to this world, all the traitors shall die!"
