"No, no way. Damn it, what am I thinking?!"
Suddenly, Obito shook his head violently, driving away that terrifying thought.
He had just entertained the idea of devouring the 'Mother'—it was too horrifying!
The dead giant Groselle's island of consciousness seemed to contain a terrible 'corruption.' Even the demigod White Zetsu, who is a Beyonder of the 'Spectator' path, could not resist that level of corruption and was dragged toward the abyss of madness.
Of course, this mainly stemmed from White Zetsu himself. His Beyonder potion was not fully digested and already leaned toward losing control, which made it easy for the 'madness' to infect him.
"Baka!"
Obito was so angry he wanted to twist White Zetsu's head off.
But he knew he couldn't do that.
This world was too strange. If he lost the one who knew it best—White Zetsu—he would never escape.
So now, he had to protect White Zetsu, and also find a way to solve the problem of this 'madness.'
Obito carried the white Zetsu, who had lost all reason and slipped into a state of madness, trekking through mountains and rivers.
At last, he found a place with people.
It was a city, densely populated.
After a simple disguise, Obito swaggered through the city's main gate, carrying white Zetsu.
The city was called Pessot, a name Obito had learned from the people on the road.
The most famous place in the city was a roughly built stone church located in the southeast corner.
Inside, there was a priest named Alvin, who, according to rumors, had been there even before Pessot city was founded.
Perhaps he could cure madness.
Obito carried white Zetsu to the southeast corner and indeed saw the rugged church.
A middle-aged man, not very old but with some wrinkles, wore a long robe faded from many washes.
His hair was short and light golden.
He was watering flowers in front of the church.
"Hello, Father Alvin. We are adventurers from outside."
Needing help, Obito had to lower his head and show a humble attitude.
"My friend here had some trouble in the mountains and somehow became like this. Could you help us? Cure him? I promise a great reward."
"I see... a sad and pitiful child."
Father Alvin put down the watering can and slowly approached them, his face showing compassion.
"What happened to you?"
"Uh..."
Obito's mind raced as he spoke.
"We met a mad giant in the mountains. He hurt us, and then my companion turned like this."
"Your companion is a demigod from the Spectator pathway."
Father Alvin raised his hand and gently touched white Zetsu's forehead, his face showing sorrow.
"I understand now. It is the corruption of 'That One.'
No wonder he changed like this."
"That One?"
Obito looked puzzled.
"Some call Him the 'Lord.' Others call Him the 'Fallen Creator.' Some even bury the history of His existence."
Father Alvin showed a reverent expression, his voice rising with passion.
"But no matter how the world defames Him, the Lord is still the Lord. Your friend was infected by the madness of 'That One' through the mad giant and has seen the scene of 'That Day.'"
"That day's scene? The Lord's madness?"
Obito suddenly froze, as if he had caught the key point. "You mean, the Three King of Angels devoured the Creator?"
"You actually know?"
Father Alvin was a bit surprised but quickly composed himself. "It seems you know part of the truth. Yes, it was that day's scene—the Lord was betrayed and devoured by His Three King of Angels. Madness then spread uncontrollably. This kind of sickness, no one can cure it, unless... no, forget it."
"Unless what?"
Obito immediately grew anxious and pressed, "Father, please tell me, how can I save him?"
"Are you close to him?" Father Alvin asked back.
"Uh, very close. Extremely close." Obito hesitated for half a second, then spoke firmly, "We share life and death!"
He was joking. If White Zetsu really went mad, who else would take him out?
Obito was now burdened with worries he couldn't express. No matter how dangerous, he had to find a way to restore White Zetsu's sanity.
"I see. Looks like you really are close."
Father Alvin nodded slightly and whispered, "Unless you can find the City of Miracles, Liveseyd, there's no way to save him."
"City of Miracles, Liveseyd?" Hearing a new name again, Obito looked even more confused.
"Yes, the rumored divine kingdom of Ankewelt, the Dragon of Imagination."
Father Alvin showed a look of yearning. "It is said that the 'Angel of Imagination' sleeps there. Only He can help your friend and destroy the madness brought by the 'Creator.'"
"Angel of Imagination?"
Suddenly, a thought flashed through Obito's mind: "Adam?!"
"Oh, you actually know the name of the Angel of Imagination?" Father Alvin looked at him with some surprise, then smiled and nodded.
"Yes, the Angel of Imagination Adam is said to be sleeping in the City of Miracles, Liveseyd. But unfortunately, that city vanished long ago. The last time it appeared was at the end of the First Era."
"Thank you, Father. I understand now."
However, Obito barely listened. A fierce light flickered in his eyes.
He had finally, finally found a clue about 'Adam'!
It turned out that Adam was hidden in the City of Miracles, Liveseyd. It felt like fate was on their side to find it so easily!
"If fate wills it, the City of Miracles, Liveseyd will appear before you."
Father Alvin raised his hand and drew four clockwise circles over his chest. "May the Goddess of the Night bless you both, and may you find the Angel of Imagination safely."
Obito didn't want to waste time. He slung White Zetsu on his back and headed straight out, completely unaware of Father Alvin's faint, knowing smile.
Suddenly, White Zetsu on his back seemed to briefly wake up. It raised a hand, pointing in a certain direction, mumbling repeatedly, "There, there... there."
"Are you back to normal?" Obito asked, surprised, turning to look.
Unfortunately, White Zetsu soon fell back into its crazed state, which annoyed Obito.
Looking at the direction White Zetsu pointed, Obito decided to try following it. He quickened his pace, heading towards the towering mountain peak.
Not long after the two left, the once bustling and lively Pessot City suddenly became cold and empty.
The pedestrians faded away like illusions, leaving only Father Alvin standing before the rough stone-built church.
A haze surrounded him as he seemed to shed his many disguises, revealing the face of Uchiha Sogetsu.
His pale golden vertical pupils gazed in the direction the two had gone, a faint smile curling on his lips: "Safe travels."
Earlier, it was he who used a virtual persona to create the illusion of Pessot City's prosperity.
Even from the moment White Zetsu and Obito stepped into the city, their subconscious had been influenced by him, guiding them step by step to this church.
In the end, as he wished, they were now heading towards the City of Miracles, Liveseyd!
